“We are from MontrealAnd we accidentally bumped into Wonton King… what a pleasant surprise and a nice experience… this no frill dining room is prefect for a quick business lunch. We had the Wor Wonton and the Ginger pork… that was excellent I could have made 2 meals on that soup …lolllAll is made in house, always fresh staff is nice and attentive to your needs and questions…Definitely a place to try , go or come back“
“What an incredible experience. Right from the moment you walk into this little gem to when the food comes out. This is a quiet unassuming place right off of crowchild. When you enter you are greeted with a dimly lit restaurant with calm relaxing music and projected murals on either side. Not only that but the food did not disappoint from the beautiful presentation to the tantalizing fusion of flavours from multiple cultures. I would recommend this place for a date night or even a family who is willing to try something a bit different than a standard chinese food restaurant.“
“the food at Sizzling Grill is absolutely delicious! Their butter chicken is cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful. And the service by Ram is top-notch! He's attentive, friendly, and always makes sure you have a great dining experience. I highly recommend giving Sizzling Grill a try if you're looking for a tasty meal and excellent service! ???“
“Oh, my goodness, Happy Veggie House is a total gem! It's like they've found the secret to making vegan food that is just as scrumptious, if not more, as any non-vegan dishes.I mean, their noodles? Absolute heaven! Even though they're vegan, they've got this flavor that is just out of this world. I especially loved the thick fried noodles. They were crispy, flavorful, and just downright satisfying! And let's not even get me started on the fried rice and stir-fry vegetables. They were so tasty that I found myself going back for seconds... and thirds. What's more, you get such a good amount of food for what you pay. The prices are totally reasonable, and you definitely won't be leaving hungry. The cherry on top? The service. The lady who served me was super nice and made me feel right at home. So, if you're in the mood for some hearty, flavorful, and budget-friendly vegan food, do yourself a favor and pay a visit to Happy Veggie House. You won't regret it!“
“I just dined here. WOW!First off the restaurant is so clean and nicely decorated in a modern Asian motif. The service was utterly fantastic. I was greeted and served by one of the owners, Jim. He was so friendly and helpful with what's fantastic on their huge menu offerings (judging by the other patrons meals, everything was fantastic) I sat close enough to the till and overheard everyone being so complementary of their dinners when paying. Everyone had a smile.I opted for the Wor Wonton soup and a side dish of Chicken dumplings . They were flavorful and cooked perfectly, and opposed to other Asian restaurants that dry them out and serve them semi warm, the helping of these dumplings is double otherplaces, and at equal or less money than other restaurants!I even recieved a complimentary appetizer to start, which just was fantastic on its own to aid in cleansing your pallette for the upcoming meal. The soup arrived and was so, so, fresh, the ingredients were so vibrant in color and piping hot. These ingredients (unlike so many other places as mentioned) were incredibly fresh. The serving bowl was absolutley filled and I mean filled with Shrimp, Chicken, BBQ sliced pork, wontons, broccoli, green onions, mushrooms, babycorn, bok choy, and more!It is without a doubt, the freshest, wonderfully prepared, and cleanest Asian cuisine dining establishment I have visited in the last decade!Pride of ownership absolutley shines through.5 ?????Do yourself a favor and visit, no disappointments!“
“This small dumpling place in a professional building offers authentic fried and steamed dumplings. We tried the fried pork and chicken dumplings -- both were very well seasoned. The wrap is on the slightly thicker side but reasonable to avoid breaking. We tried the in-house made hot sauce, it's so flavored with quite a bit of depth.“
“I recently visited Sun Island, and it's hands down the best Chinese food in town. The service was top-notch, and every dish was bursting with flavor. From the warm welcome to the last bite, it was an unforgettable experience. Whether you're a foodie or just craving authentic Chinese cuisine, Sun Island is a must-visit spot.“
“A nice little Chinese restaurant that's tucked away along 32nd Ave. This spot serves a bunch of unique Chinese dishes that you don't typically find in a dim sum-type restaurant. It's usually filled with native Chinese people which is a good sign of authenticity. Food is tasty and hot, with good portions and decent prices too. The interior of the restaurant is rather small, but not uncomfortable to sit in. Staff members are friendly and accommodating, and there is a small parking lot outside as well. Check this place out for something different!“
“I wanted to take a photo of the food, but ended up being so yummy I just ate it. This is the experience you'll have, the food is Soo good you can't stop yourself from just chowing it down. Can't recommend the lunch specials enough!“
“This is a great little restaurant owned by the nicest family for many years. We usually order delivery, but dined in tonight. The food was excellent and the gentleman that owns it gave us excellent service, he was such a nice man and so thankful for our business. We will be back soon.“
“Observing the skilled artistry of hand-pulling noodles is truly a delightful experience in itself. Additionally, this location offers ample seating compared to the one on Center Street. The staff here is friendly, and the service is consistently excellent.“
“I had my wedding here and could not be happier with the experience! The guests said the food was great, and Lily and Caroline were very accommodating, the staff were amazing. They even were willing to accommodate dietary restrictions with a set menu. I highly recommend this place!“
“The food was some of the best Chinese I have had. The GF Lemon Chicken was flavourful. Ginger beef was nice and had a good kick. The braised vegetables were also tasty.Dietary restrictions: There was a very wide selection for the Gluten Free restricted people out there. My wife was delighted.“
“Our favourite for Chinese food! We've been going here for as long as I remember, even though we no longer live in the neighbourhood we travel from the NE to still go here! Sam is wonderful, always so friendly & great to catch up with! Their buffet is the best in the city & will always recommend them!“
“We were eager to try this new Chinese fare in the NW and it was pretty good. Full disclosure, I'm a white guy and the menu is very Chinese. Sill, there were plenty of gweilo items for us to choose from.We started with the deep fried green beans with pork, which was very good and had good flavours and spiciness. We, of course, had to compare the ginger beef to our current favs and it came in about average. It had good texture and was saucy enough but it did lack sufficient ginger and garlic to give it any zing, so fell a little flat. The Salt & Pepper Basa was our last dish and was disappointingly bland. No salt, and I don't think I saw any pepper flakes anywhere. So overall, everything was pretty good but it lacked zing, with little spice, ginger or garlic.Pricing was typical and fair considering the sizeable portions provided. Service was spot on, except that you have one ipad for everyone to order from. Nice folks, I hope they do well. We will definitely try again and inquire further about making it spicier.“
“Hands down one of the best Chinese food in South East Calgary! Best for pickup or ordering on skip the dishes, since their space is a bit too small for dinning. Their ginger beef and stirred fried vegetables are to die for. Can't recommend them enough!!“
“Great selection of soup flavours so I asked the counter attendant what her favourite was. I really enjoyed the curry wonton soup she suggested. Perfect balance of heat, salt etc. Had fresh bean sprouts and those square puffs that soak up the tasty coconut broth and peanut sprinkled on top. Couldn't possibly eat it all. Next time I would ask for a few less noodles. I will be back to try some more of the flavours.“
“Calan beef is Calgary Local owned! Let's support them! They have a small place, however it's really nice and cozy. The hand pulled noodles is so fresh! I like how they serve it is a glass bowl. Don't get fooled with the size because they give you lots of noodles. Because of which, there is not much soup. You can ask for extra broth. Which they will give you. And it's actually just right. The other place with similar concept do have a big bowl, in my humble opinion it's the same amount. Though I have to say their beef is sliced a little thicker. The staff are really nice.So when you go there, you order what you want, then you go and get it. Then you get your chopsticks and napkins as well as water.I would prefer this locally owned restaurant! I just love it here!“
“All of the food was made fresh with fresh ingredients! Small mom and pop type of place focusing on food quality, and you can tell the food is made with love ❤️One of the best Chinese food places have eaten at. I am super picky about my heritage foods, and these guys nailed every dish, and they were fast and didn't push drinks. I absolutely loved that! We came in late at night, ordered water and 8 dishes, and couldn't have been happier about all we ate.We now have a fav place when we travel thru Calgary. We often fly in and overnight and fly out. This place is close to the hotels that are close to the airport.“
“Great little restaurant. Quaint, seems to be owned and run by a single couple who greet me with a friendly smile every time I come in. They've even stayed open a little longer so I could enjoy one of my favorite meals after work, and always show their appreciation for me as a customer. In fact, they're as welcoming as my own family is when I come over for family dinners. The food is excellent. I always get the house special (stir fry on crispy egg noodles) because it's so delicious.“
“Ordered for the first time and the food and service were exceptional. We asked for no mushrooms and they accommodated this. Every dish as fresh, delicious and cooked very well. So happy to have found our new Chinese food place in the south.“
“I don’t think I’ve ever been more compelled to write a review but I stumbled on this place by accident when looking for something to eat. The lady running the shop was welcoming and recommended the Rougamo Chinese burger and all I can say is chefs kiss! The bao buns were also some of the best I’ve had. Prices were also reasonable.“
“We have been looking for Jian Bing since we moved to Alberta after being Expats in China for almost a decade. Aunties Chinese Burger was such a treat! The Jian Bing was delicious and the owner was really sweet. It was fun practising our mandarin and Shanghainese too!“
“Whenever you think you found your favourite chinese restaurants and both gets temporarily closed you go for a hunt to find somewhere thats as good or even better. I am glad it led us here. We finally decided to try it (we always pass by as its on a main road) and we couldn’t have been happier. Food was so good and authentic to Chinese cuisine - its not the sweetened version alot of places have. None of the food was oily either which is another win. We can’t wait to try other dishes - this is a hidden gem! ☺️“
“One of the best place to have Peking Duck in the NW. Serves up some delicious and unique peking duck combo in the city. Addictive duck feet that taste like jelly, to their homemade Peking duck wraps, tasty!! Their jellyfish dish is among the best in the city!Service is quick and staff are super friendly.“
“Had the salt and pepper calamari, mapo tofu, veggies with mushroom, and a side of steamed rice.Veggies were done superbly and the mushrooms tasted so good! Mapo tofu was delicious and the texture was great. The squid was fried in good oil, so it tasted fresh. Great meal.It was busy, so service took a bit of time to accomodate everyone during Family day weekend. Would recommend.Vegetarian options: Tofu and vegetable options available.Wheelchair accessibility: Not accessible due to a long flight of stairs to access the restaurant.“
“Came in for date night with my fiancée. I don’t often leave reviews but our server was Anthony and he was amazing for only having 4 months of serving experience. I have been coming to bubbles for over 8 years and he is hands down, the best bubbles server I have had. He’s friendly, knowledgeable, attentive with his tables and has great recommendations. He sold me on the logan lime fruit tea and my partner and I were quite impressed. Would be delighted to have him serve us again! SHOUTOUT TO YOU ANTHONY! :))“
“They can accommodate gluten-free!! Delicious singapore style vermicelli. I haven’t eaten this dish in decades because of severe celiac. Three dinners here and all have been safe. Staff were extremely helpful (eg selecting menu items, avoiding cross contamination) and kind (bringing us water while we waited for take out). The atmosphere was also pleasant - Clean and nicely put together.“
“Was back in Calgary for a quick visit and my normal place was closed. Decided to try Uncle Ben's out based on reviews and was not disappointed. The lady at the counter was fast and friendly. My takeout order was ready in about 10 min. Food was fresh, loaded with vegetables and cooked very well. Would recommend. Thanks!“
“This is the best authentic Chinese restaurant in Calgary! Flavorful dishes with generous portions. The service is always warm and welcoming. There are plenty of free parking as well (you just need to register your license plate). We eat here every couple weeks :)“
“We ran into this place by accident and it ended been pretty good. The atmosphere is great and feels homey but relaxed. They get really busy so make sure you can make a reservation beforehand. The service was great and they made sure we had everything we needed. The food is good but I would recommend trying some other dishes without the spice they add to some of them.I understand that's the style of grill but after two or three meats they kind of taste the same with it, so make sure to ask the server not to add it to some items. The best item we tried was their beef short ribs, and surprisingly the green pepper was really good too.Other than that, the place is awesome and totally recommend it.“
“It was my first time experience their hot pot and I was amazed by the ambience, their customer service and how clean the resto is. I was in love with the soup base of their hot pot it is tasty and you’ve got a lot of choices of soup base to choose from. I posted this photos in my fb and reels and some are curious to try it too. I would highly recommend you guys to try it. Thank you happy lamb for the great experience my family wants to try it too and see you soon.“
“Solid food. Perfect ginger beef, nice and crispy, good balance of sweet and spicy. Black been chicken was delicious. Overall great quality, definitely coming back.Kid-friendliness: We're very kind and welcoming of kidsWheelchair accessibility: Lots of space at the door, no stairs, lots of room to get around“
“BEST in class food experience.A veritable cornucopia of epicurean delights.Top quality, presentation, service, atmosphere and tenured staff create a legendary dining experience of treasured memories.Book your family or corporate party for a one of a kind experience. Private dining or party rooms and an amazing Karaoke video and sound system. A highly social community and cultural experience. Flexible management.Parking: Small lot with street and pay parking across the street.Wheelchair accessibility: Elevator on 1st floor in the shopping mall.“
“A fantastic little watering hole people are friendly and the service is great would highly recommend to anybody's looking for a good watering hole not to mention it's 30 years old and has been run by the same family the whole time“
“We ordered delivery and it was so good that we intend to try out the food in person next time. The crispy tofu has no business being so addictively good. The grilled enoki mushrooms and eggplant are loaded with flavour and garlic (we are huge garlic fans). Spicy cucumber is a household fave and this one was tasty. We also ordered 100% vegetarian (we do love meat, just wanted a lighter course tonight) and were really happy with the variety of veggie selections on the menu. We will certainly try some meat skewers next time based on how yummy our veggie selection was.“
“We have ordered from Wok with Dave 3 times now and have been very impressed. The food is very good- fresh and with good flavour. I have liked every dish we have ordered but especially the ginger chicken and sweet and sour pork. The portions are very generous. We will continue to support this small business.“
“What a great local gem. We were looking for a good Chinese buffet and came across this spot. Somehow living in the south I've never came across this place sooner. We rarely do buffets but wanted to splurge/gorge. We'll definitely be back the next time we feel the need and will definitely do take out from here. The food: great selection had a great variety of your typical North American type Chinese dishes with a couple added bonuses such as 2 dim sum dishes (sticky rice with bbq pork and siu mai), and a nice simple dessert selection (ice cream, cookies, mango jello and pudding). Everything was fresh and hot. The main guy working was awesome, very attentive always checking to make sure we were aware that more food was coming. Then when it got late he told us if we wanted a certain dish that was running low to just let him know and he'd make sure they'd make more (at the end there was only us which was a table of 4 and I think 1 other table left so I totally appreciated the fact that they weren't overmaking a bunch of food for no reason). We'll totally be back what a great experience!!“
“In town skiing and found a great place for delivery! The man in the phone was very good at his job getting all the details for delivery, taking my order clearly and repeated it back to me for accuracy ? food arrived in 30 mins, driver got the front desk to call up to us and they sent him up the locked elevator right to our door. A+. (Dominos made us meet them in the lobby) Food was tasty, plentiful and still worm. Exactly as we expect for some good old American Chinese food in a hotel! Crushed it all, 4 dishes for 4 adults worked perfect for us and they even included plates and cutlery ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“
“This is the real deal very impressed with the food we picked it up it was fast, very high-quality and seasoned very well. Their signature dish was a dried beef with chillies really really good and different. We also have the lamb with cumin and I’m not sure of the chicken dish but it was very good. The atmosphere was a bit old. That’s why it didn’t get five stars but I would definitely go back,Parking: a small parking lot used by a lot of businesses was hard to find a parking stall. Next time I would go down below in the basement,“
“The food tonight was fantastic ! We had dinner for 4, added chow mein. Each dish tasted distinctly unique, which is important for us. Ginger beef was crispy but sauced, rice was fantastic. Lemon chicken included in meal ! New Fav NW place for Chinese!“
“Ordered take out from here in celebration of Lunar New Year with my littles yesterday eve - and let me tell you, this is hands down the absolute best Chinese food I've ever had. Everything else dulls in comparison. The food was so fresh, and piping hot on delivery. Highly recommend. And I see y'all! I see how you packed us extra Fortune Cookies, and Lemon Chicken! That was absolutely lovely. Thank you.“
“I ordered through uber eats, the food was good. But I requested them to put hot and cold separately, but they didn’t do it, happened twice. I hope you guys look into it. I live in NW and food gets cold while coming, and if i warm up the food, the cold things specifically raita gets bad.“
“Try the beef and pork CurryPacked with nice rich flavor..This dish was so good I came back the next day for more..They have a huge menu with lots of variety so I'm sure you will be able to find something you enjoy. You can always spot a good Chinese restaurant when it's popular with the Chinese community. The prices are very reasonable the service is very fast.I was even impressed with the coffee. I'm not sure how they got it so flavorful but it's rich and flavorful and not bitter.I found the coffee to be even better than top two well-known chains !!“
“Sesame offers a delicious array of Asian dishes with generous portions that you can order to take out or dine in. They also have a wide variety of flavours of bubble tea. The food comes hot out of the wok full of flavour and freshness. The meat is seasoned to perfection and the noodles are drenched in tasty sauces. The Singapore noodles really stood out and so did the Spicy Cumin Lamb Noodles.“
“It is a typical Chinese restaurant where food taste is paramount and service and atmosphere are secondary, hence my review scores.Having said that, if you are craving for a traditional late night snack Hong Kong style, this is my go-to place. You cannot go wrong with traditionally style congee, paired with deep fried tofu and some black bean sauce clams. The food are as Hong Kong style late night snack as you can find here and in Hong Kong. I will definitely return again after a late night movie.Parking is a huge concern here as the parking lot is really tiny for such a popular restaurant. Yes, it is very likely you cannot find a parking spot at 11:00PM! Besides there is no parking along the 16th Ave, consider carpooling.“
“Using fresh, high end ingredients transform into authentic Chinese dishes. Golden Sands never disappoints with any of their dishes (none that I’ve tried) and friendly faces. Definitely a must try and will quickly become your new favorite go to restaurant.“
“The vegetarian / vegan buffet is delicious! The food is always fresh and hot, and they rotate the dishes very frequently. We were able to try the vegetarian spring rolls, taro, bean curd rolls, sweet and sour soy balls, lotus root, and various other dishes. Every single dish was well seasoned and so good! They have a good selection of teas, fruit juices, and other drinks. A cold salad bar and take home options are also offered. The service was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend trying Ambrosia Veggie House! It's located in the monastery across from the river. Beautiful scenery and a great atmosphere.“
“A solid takeaway spot for Western-style Chinese food. The portions are generous and prices are on par for Chinese takeout. There could be more meat or bigger meat portions in the dishes. For instance, the salt & pepper squid and ginger beef: the batter to meat ratio was off. Both had too much batter and were borderline soggy. Also got the salt and pepper tofu and the while the flavour was good, I just wish it was crisper. The dumplings were plump and juicy.“
“This food is delicious. Thick hand pulled noodles, noodle soup, dumplings in soup. Heaven.Make sure you park in the back through the alley. There place is small and doesn't have a washroom so take out might be best but we ate in and loved it. The service was very friendly b and helpful. But most important the food is incredible AND huge portions for low price.“
