“Excellent sushi. The fish has great taste and texture, both raw and grilled. The chef's definitely know what they are doing and the service staff are quick and proactive. Price is not exactly cheap, but fair for sushi these days and basically equal with most other restaurants. The place is well lit and has a nice atmosphere. Highly recommended!“
“The staff is so kind and personable here. We didn’t have sushi this time, just udon, green tea and the matcha brownie. i’d recommend all those to anyone, especially in the minus 35 weather. the udon was so flavourful and also vegetarian friendly! The green tea is yummy genmaicha, they give you a full tea press, super great complimenting our whole meal. And finally the matcha brownie with big white chocolate chunks that comes with ice cream, so good!Vegetarian options: they had a vegetarian option for udon which we were so happy about!“
“I love Japanese food and Tokyo Express in the Scona Market 78Ave is the best place to visit. The sushi plate was amazing and fresh. The staff is really what makes me happy and coming back again❤️? They are wonderful and so sweet. They are really nice and hardworking. They offer a great service to me. The ambiance is made for a memorable experience. I swear the staff is the best?“
“Some of the best quality sushi and sashimi I have found in Edmonton. The lunch bento box is incredibly high quality and everything was top notch. This is a tiny spot just with bar seating so keep that in mind when planning. Can’t wait to come try the sashimi platters next time.Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly due to limited seating“
“This was the best food we’ve eaten in years! Authentic, flavourful and fresh. The menu had and a large selection. The waitress was so friendly and gave us great recommendations on what to try. Amazing atmosphere and we will definitely be back!“
“Surprisingly the food was so good for the price. I loved everything that I ordered today, especially the tuna tataki. Usually restaurants here in Edmonton, only serve beef tataki. I will bring my children to go there to enjoy more different kinds of dishes.Don't forget to try the blazing salmon rolls. This is my top choice.“
“I had an amazing experience at Tokyo Express! The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the service was top-notch. The sushi itself was incredibly fresh and expertly prepared. The staff was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend Tokyo Express to anyone looking for delicious sushi and a wonderful dining experience!“
“One of our all time favourite neighbourhood spots! The TNT pressed sushi, shaka shaka fries, agedashi tofu, and sashimi are our all time faves — you gotta get the fries!!! We’ve become regulars at Dorinku over the years & it has a special place in our hearts. Always the best vibes & best servers - Hi Sarah!!“
“This place was recommended by a friend recently. We arrived on an hour before it closed, so wasn’t very busy. The staff was very welcoming. Food, service and atmosphere were five out of five! Absolutely amazing little place. It’s our new favourite sushi place, and right in the neighborhood!“
“This is a cute bungalow house turned into a cafe. Sit upstairs if you have a choice. Basement is chilly in winter. Coffee is ok; not bad and not credo level either. We were sad we ate before coming because the food looked good. Asian style cuisine. Will try to come back and try food.Parking: Street parking, could be an issue if busy.“
“Dined here with family one fine evening and sampled a bunch of different options. Sashimi, Korean short ribs, tempura and various rolls. Price is a premium. Food was all excellent. Was intrigued by the omakase. Slightly disappointed that my server mentioned a bill could only be split in half. Option to pay with more than 2 credit cards was told no. I needed this for business purpose. Minor inconvenience.“
“The food was outstanding, and I was impressed by the knowledge and care around my gluten-free requirements (Celiac). Our server was the nicest and made our first visit so enjoyable. I will definitely be back for more of that pressed salmon!“
“i'm new to edmonton but this tokyo express been my first choice to eat at since i started coming around the area! the food is great, my favourite takoyaki is from here and the staff are always so nice and friendly. definitely my favourite place to eat in the area.“
“We just went to Stingray for the first time because we heard great things. And we were not disappointed. The food was phenomenal w/ very generous portions and even more phenomenal was the service. Jill is an exceptional server. There are countless restaurants in the city that rival the quality of the food and ambience here, but what they lack is what Jill offers, which puts Stingray in its own category. We highly recommend Stingray, and other restaurants should take note of the level of service ;-)“
“Great place to get all you can eat sushi. You have the opportunity to try many different things you might not try if you have to buy one or two things. It's a bit pricey so if you're not hungry it wouldn't be worth it. Overall the sushi is good, not the best but good. It's usually very busy and tightly packed so reservations are very helpful. To management, please secure the toilet seat in the women's washroom.Vegetarian options: Yes, cucumber, avacado, yam rolls, soups and seaweed salad are all good options.Dietary restrictions: They have gluten free and vegetarianKid-friendliness: As long as your kids are okay with lots of people.“
“It’s easy to come across new Japanese restaurants opening up in the city these days, but I can say with all my confidence that this place will always remain as my favourite. This place offers an authentic, homey and cozy Japanese dining experience but this experience comes with a compact space, so make sure you book a reservation in advance. Anything with their aburi salmon is a must-try and so is their nebeyaki udon. They don’t have the fastest service so I wouldn’t recommend this place if you are looking to grab a quick bite to eat.“
“Oh man, I love I Love Sushi!!! Was here last night for a late bday celebration. I got the dinner with tofu instead of meat, which came with rice, sauteed vegetables and teriyaki sauce, miso soup, and a side salad. Oh man it was delicious! The tofu cubes were soooo good! My only feedback was I wish there was more sauce on the vegetables as they were a bit dry. I also got an order of yam rolls and veggie rolls, also super yummy! All of the food was fresh and just what I was craving :)The service was excellent, the two women working were attentive, kind, and accommodating. I also appreciate them not rushing us when we came in at 8 and only had an hour left till closing. The atmosphere too is really lovely and cozy, felt so nice amidst the weather outside. This would be my 3rd time eating food from here and won't be the last!“
“Went for dinner with my wife and kids for a birthday dinner. The food was excellent. Service was super good. The food we ordered was extremely delicious and well made. Favourites include the assorted sashimi and the special rolls. Agedashi tofu was also delicious. My only critique was that all of the food came out with the exception of the poke bowl. This is always a challenge for restaurants but it messed up our meal a bit as 5 people got to eat while one had to wait until we were finished.“
“This is the best spot on Whyte to go to for Vietnamese food. Incredibly large portions at a great price and amazing depth to the flavours. The pho broth is savoury and not too sweet, just the way I like it. They also have their own versions of fried chicken wings that present an authentic taste. They are always consistently delicious and I would definitely recommend this place.“
“The experience at this Tokyo Express was fantastic! The staff were very friendly and courteous. The food was fantastic as well. I have been to other stores of this franchise and this is by far my best experience. I would rate the quality on the same level as other higher range sushi restaurants.“
“I only tried a couple rolls, but they were amazing! They had a great restaurant in Cold Lake, AB (Red Bean) and they've only gotten better! Can't wait to back and try more. Great menu selections and highly recommend the Volcano Roll“
“Interior is more or less the standard western-japanese restaurant, menu is standard and not much creativity, but the good that comes out is quite high quality.I don't really have a reason to come back unfortunately since there are more interesting places to go for sushi.“
“I've been a Mikado customer and enthusiast since the owner (David) was a sushi chef at the original location back in the early 1980s. The fact that I (now 'we') continue to be clients of this fine establishment for over four decades pretty much illustrates how highly we regard this group of restaurants. 5.5 stars out of 5!!!“
“A little place for take out... foods that I ordered to take out were very good. There is absolutely no reason to pay more money from any restaurants... this place is a lot better than any other Japanese restaurants. I have been to many Japanese restaurants it because I love sushi and rolls... I am very confident that I recommend this place for you.“
“The first time I went here was because I didn't feel like waiting in line at Chicken for Lunch. Since that time, it's been a destination of choice. The service is always extremely kind and friendly. More importantly, the food is always delicious. Everything I've tried has been tasty and fresh and stratifying.“
“I absolutely love this place! Great selection of Vietnamese and Japanese dishes and generous portion sizes. Staff are very friendly and the quality of food is always superb! My go to place for Vietnamese. Thank you to the entire Volcano team!“
“My mom and I went for lunch and decided on take-out. When we walked walked in, wow! The interior is perfect, and the staff were extra friendly. I got the salmon sushi lover, and my mom got make your own bento box, with assorted tempura, miso soup, bulgogi beef, and the dynamite roll. The portion sizes were perfect and all the flavors were outstanding!“

The fact that I (now 'we') continue to be clients of this fine establishment for over four decades pretty much illustrates how highly we regard this group of restaurants. 5.5 stars out of 5!!!“
“This was our first time eating here and it was absolutely INCREDIBLE!! Not only were the sashimi and rolls amazing, the staff were wonderful and the restaurant was super cozy. I would definitely come here again and recommend this place to anyone I know!!!“
“I ordered an avocodo maki roll and spicy salmon maki roll: both were very good and for a reasonable price! They gave a very decent amount of ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce along with it. Service was pleasant as well :) This is a solid spot that I would come to again!“
“I go here probably once a week as a treat and I always love the food and service! The noodles are some of the best in the city, and there lots of options for sushi and other side dishes! The prices are very affordable, especially with their extra noodles you can on the side. The staff super friendly and do an amazing job making sure you are happy in the place. I highly recommend going here if you haven't!It's not on the list but the ebi nigiri skewers are some of my favorite. :)“
“Kyoto - Garneau has been one of my favourite Japanese restaurants since 2014. They have a wide selection of good quality items that come in great portions at amazing prices. Overall 9/10. Strongly recommend:- Bento- Grilled Hamachi Collar: Often out of stock- Sashimi, i.e. Sashimi Boat- Chirashi“
“I tried the takeout bento with Chicken Karaage, and it was a real treat. The chicken was surprisingly tender and juicy, with a nice crispy coating. The accompanying side dishes, including the silky eggs and refreshing spinach, were well-prepared and added a good balance of flavours. The presentation was simple but inviting, making this bento a wholly satisfying experience!“
“I can say it is probably the best buffet in edmonton. Sushi was fresh and delicious, the assortment of dim sum was amazing, the Chinese dishes were more than I could try. Very nice salad bar lots of ice cream and dessert I was to full to try. We went on a Monday can't wait to try it on the weekends.“
“Kobe is our favourite Japanese restaurant in the West End of Edmonton. It is a family run business and we have been going there for many, many years. Love the way they prepare their sashimi, sushi, rolls (avocado rolls!), and udons. Love the Japanese hospitality too!!!“
“The place could use a little cosmetic touch up and also a little more space in between tables. Was a little hesitant when seeing the decor, but once the food was served, all of that goes away. Great quality food with good portions. Friendly services. Will always come back!“
“This is an amazing place for Sushi and also had their boba tea, all of was amazing and the customer service was amazing. The sushi was amazing as well, one thing that makes me love this place even more that they played Blue Bird by Ikimono Gakari such a beautiful song. I went here for my passing little brothers birthday because he loved sushi, this place will forever be my favorite sushi place. Thank you for the food and the kind people and service!“
“Nothing fancy, but a good choice for some popular Japanese foods (rice bowls, sushi, bento boxes, udon, etc). I had a bento box and the photo on the menu didn't really convey how much food you get for a very reasonable price. You order at the counter and they will bring you your food.“
“Quality and quantity of food is spectacular. Everything we ordered was delicious and full of flavor.Takoyaki, love platter, karaage chicken, deep fried oysters and Salman tataki.I will always go back here for the food. The service, however, is slow. Usually one person man's the front and they are always slow to bring menus, take the order and then return with boxes at the end.Either than the service 5 stars! Everything, including washrooms are clean and tidy.“
“what makes Shogun special? They serve Vietnamese Japanese fusion AYCEPerfect for people who don't like sashimi, yet many cooked food selections. My favorite is the Bum Bo WeiA private room for booking... fitting at least 20 peopleI wanna share something about tempuraTempura is often mistaken for fried food, but it's actually a steamed dish. It's a technique of steaming the ingredients by coating them in a light batter.A good tempura should be crispy outside and moist inside.I think this place did a really good job of that.if you didn't know that, share this out.Free customer parking“
“I've been a Mikado customer and enthusiast since the owner (David) was a sushi chef at the original location back in the early 1980s. The fact that I (now 'we') continue to be clients of this fine establishment for over four decades pretty much illustrates how highly we regard this group of restaurants. 5.5 stars out of 5!!!“
“It's one of my favorite stops whenever I head into the city! I loved coming here for my weekend outing when I lived on the north side. Fantastic sushi, Ramen, and Chinese food. The servers are always so kind :) Especially one, in particular we usually got. I wish I got her name. She's excellent! If you love Japanese food, you need to check this place out. Great Vibes! and even better food! I'll have to go again soon.“
“Got the Kaiseki Box here for my Moms birthday dinner and they were great! Worth the price, especially for the Wagyu beef. Initially it doesn’t seem like a lot of food but I was stuffed afterwards. The only miss was the fried taiyaki in the taiyaki parfait which was super oily.“
“Me and my boyfriend come here all time and the service combined with food keeps us coming back I never once left hungry or upset. I'll prolly be coming back for years to come. I used to go to sushi garden before it closed but this was a great if not better replacement.Dietary restrictions: Lots of options no matter what you can't eat“
“Triple L has been on my list of places to try since it opened. If you're like me and you keep thinking about it, just do yourself a favor and go in. I spent around $25 (with tip and tax) for a nice combo of Dynamite Rolls and 2x Salmon Nigiri and 2x Tuna Nigiri. The service was extremely polite and fast and the restaurant dining area and bathrooms are very clean.Pictured is the aforementioned dynamite combo, and one of the cute Noren hanging on the wall (they have great decor, I should have snapped a few more pictures)Overall this place definitely deserves the 4.9 star rating they command. Go in and treat yourself! The only downside is that parking around this area is a bit tight. I just parked between Timmies/Michaels and walked across the street, less hassle and easier to get on the road home after.“
