Amazing food. Huge menu selection and everything is superb. Staff is courteous, pleasant, and quick. I love this place.
Of course the coconut soup is the lure and it is magnificent. The Larb (all varieties) and spicy beef salad are standouts but everything I've had was always delicious. Service is excellent. Every time.
We come to Surin pretty regularly for lunch and have always enjoyed their food. Their chicken noodle bowl, barbecue chicken, and duck are some of our regular go-to. I always enjoy the coconut soup that comes with the lunch as well. Lunch price is reasonable for what you get. I cannot speak to their dinner menu as far as the food quality or the price since we never go for dinner. I have been coming to Surin for years now and never left a review just because it's not new to us. However, I jumped on here to leave a review today to give a shout-out to the host, Josh. He is super friendly and helpful!! I asked for a more secluded table if possible (pandemic and all....) as the restaurant was pretty busy when I went in for lunch at 1 pm. He made the effort of moving a table for me to the corner, got hollered at by a waitress for moving the table not realizing he was being helpful, and just let the waitress' attitude slide right off of him. I really appreciated his positive attitude and he was the highlight of my meal! He's an asset to the restaurant and I hope they appreciate him.
I got the "Pad See U" and asked for it very spicy. It was not spicey at all. When I asked for a Thai chilli (so I could add my own) they didn't have any....Very shocking that a Thai restaurant wouldn't have fresh Thai chilli, or any other kind of fresh chilli peppers. Not authentic at all. Very disappointed.Service was not great either. The server greeted us at the table with a nervous energy that caught us off guard. They then proceeded to rush us into giving them our order (the restaurant didn't close for another hour...). It left us feeling confused and anxious, especially every time the server came back to the table. We even had to ask for cutlery after our food got served.I asked for a to go box that never came, and had to put it in my water glass to take home... see the attached photo.Weird restaurant, with an awkward vibe.Don't go. Not worth the hassle.
The Spicy Coconut Soup comes in a too small portion, but it is very good. They give you only a little bit of rice with the Chicken curry. The Chicken curry is very good though. Not all the vegetables were tender, which was a little annoying. I would go here again, but I know there are cheap better versions out there.
Everything is great here. The food, omg the sushi servers, the restaurant,. The bar looks good but I don't drink lol. Overall a wonderful place.
Wrong order one again. The restaurant staff was rude and didn’t try to make it right. This would be the third order that has been wrong in two months at this location. The second order the food quality was poor as well.
Wonderful food, fast service, and always pleasant staff. Parking can be troublesome as the street parking in front tends to fill up fast, but there are designated spots in the back that are usually available. Try the Pad Thai-it’s a Birmingham staple.
So the meal was amazing… very good food, good service for the most part, amazing atmosphere, packed house, etc. HOWEVER, the waitress brought out the check and I paid, and right after I paid the largest cockroach I have ever seen in my life (and I’m a Chicagoan) emerged from under a table. There was no offer of a refund, staff acted like it was a normal occurrence. I understand the climate of the south entices critters like none other, but on a Friday night in a packed house at a nicer restaurant where you are paying for quality food and environment, I felt it was not only embarrassing, but unacceptable that I wasn’t immediately offered a refund. Will not return, but I wish them the best.
This was a Grub Hub order. Grub hub did a great job getting there fast. The food, less than acceptable. Although still hot, the dishes had precooked "boiled" chicken that was tough and tasteless. The coconut chicken soup had so much salt that it was inedible. This used to be a good choice but I do not recommend.

Yummy Thai food , all the appetizers were so good . Red Curry was awesome, we ordered Chicken and Shrimp fried rice they tasted well but there was nothing but Onion and a hint of egg and tomato , there were no veggies apart from these. The Crem Brulee was hard on the top which was not excepted. The Service was good, good ambiance and well maintained.
Food and drinks were good. Server started hovering the closer it got to closing time.
Surin West was my go to restaurant 20 years ago when I lived in Birmingham. I was recently back in Birmingham and went to Surin West again. Consistent with my previous experiences, the service is great, the food in excellent with a wide variety of offerings on the menu. Being very picky about where I get Sushi, Surin West is one of the restaurants I will order Sushi from. In addition, the seating and design of the dining area is very good. I am still trying to taste everything on the menu and so far everything i've ordered exceeds my expectation. This is definitely a two thumbs up and I wish I had more hands to give it 4-6 thumbs up. Great restaurant and a must go to when in Birmingham or nearby.
Love the Thai dishes here, there is no skimping on spice or flavor. You can't go wrong with any of the appetizers or main dishes. I have regular cravings for the shrimp curry. The sushi is fine, but it's not a specialty. THE COCKTAILS ARE AMAZING. Seriously, one cocktail here is about the size and strength of 3 anywhere else. Such good value for the price, but hail a ride home! Wait staff are friendly but you get the best service sitting at the bar. Great atmosphere for lunch or dinner, individuals or groups.
