“I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! This is one of the few places you can find fried chicken livers in Birmingham. Let me tell you, they are heaven. Service is quick, the people are nice and the food is always fresh and delicious.”
“Very good service, the mussels and fries were delicious, the lemon tart wasn't the best, and the soup was a bit too salty too, but other than that it was a good experience.”
“Wow. Wow. Wow. Blown away. I’m a huge fan of “fine, French cuisine” and this was certainly worth the 90 min drive to get to. Beautiful and simple, yet service and food are well planned and very intentional. Will absolutely be back, this place DID NOT MISS! Would give 6* if I could.”
“Jordan was our server and she was so friendly, very knowledgeable and accommodating. The food was amazing! You can't go wrong with anything you order. Get the dessert! Don't pass it up. It's divine! The Sangria was so tasty and not overly sweet!”
“The chicken paillards dish was outstanding. Possibly the best chicken dish I’ve had. The risotto served with the chicken was also excellent. The blackened red fish got a big thumbs up from my eating partner. Nice space. Friendly service. Overall an exceptional experience.”
“I recently went to Helen's and it left me thoroughly impressed and actually was looking forward to writing this review. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted by an amazing staff whose warmth and hospitality set the tone for the evening. One of the standout features of Helen's is its consistency in delivering great food. The steaks, in particular, are among the best I've had in Birmingham, perfectly cooked to my liking and bursting with flavor. I have been here for date night aswell as gathering with a large group, Helen's ambiance and service ensure a memorable dining experience every time. One dish that stole the show for me was the beef ribs, a succulent and tender delight that showcased the kitchen's mastery of meat. The crawfish garganelli, with its flavorful profile complemented by ricotta salata that really tied the dish together for me.The wine selection at Helen's is commendable, with a range of options to suit every palate. They have a very nice whisky and bourbon selection, which if are into that scene, you know how hard it is for a restaurant to keep a consistent whisky and bourbon list due to the ABC, but that is a different story for a different time. I was impressed with staff's knowledge of wine pairings, enhancing the overall dining experience and elevating each dish to new heights. In essence, Helen's is a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in top-notch cuisine accompanied by exceptional service. Whether you're a steak aficionado or seeking culinary delights beyond the ordinary, Helen Restaurant delivers on all fronts, making it a true culinary gem in Birmingham. The only issue I experienced was I was, too caught up to take pictures of the dishes. Don't sleep on Helens!”
“Came in from out of town and this was such a sweet little shop to visit. We got the snickerdoodle, carrot, red velvet and strawberries and cream bundtlette! SO GOOD!”
“This was our first time and it was absolutely excellent from start to finish! The manager, Brandon, was SO genuinely welcoming and accommodating. Our server, Parker, was flawless and so much fun (request him!). Every dish was perfectly cooked, refined and full of flavor (smoked salmon, fried green tomatoes, fried oysters, rainbow trout, swordfish with andouille, ribeye with truffle fondue). The cocktails and wine all perfect. Will definitely return and want to thank Blueprint for a truly wonderful experience!”
“The staff is friendly. I had the oatmeal cream pie! When they post it on the "Gram" the night before, you better line up as early as 6:30 a.m. However, in all fairness, they only let you get just one (that is new). I would like for them to declare an Oatmeal Cream Pie Day. I would even come in to assist. I guarantee they would be busy all day. This place is a cute little gem and I'm glad I found it.”
“Great chicken, cooked the way great chicken is supposed to be - fried! The 3-piece 'hot wings' were primo - ?.Drove from Guntersville to experience Hattie B's & it did not disappoint. Will be back . . . . . . . . . . .”
“I was alone in Birmingham and decided to pop in here rather than dine at a hotel restaurant. I'm glad I did. While the bar seating was full, they were kind enough to accommodate me on the heated patio. The food was excellent, so much so that I had to splurge on the Genepy sundae. I will have to come back whenever I am in Birmingham again.”
“We had a great experience with our impromptu work dinner with our party of 15. Our server Thomas P. was very accommodating and worked to help our large group have a wonderful time. The flavors of the food were bold and paired well with the amazing drink menu. We loved the daiquiris and the Will You Be My Hurricane drinks were our favorites. But please don’t miss the Guri Guri - so yummy! Located right in the heart of downtown in a walkable area from neighboring hotels. Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”
“Hey there, cocktail connoisseurs! Let's raise a glass to my recent escapade at Adios, where the libations flowed and the vibes were on point. Starting off with the drinks, the Oaxacan Old Fashioned didn't quite hit the mark for me. Lacking that bold Mezcal punch I was craving, it fell a bit on the lighter side. However, the Mexican Firing Squad was a delightful twist on a classic margarita, hitting all the right notes. And let's not forget the Ranch Water - light, refreshing, and a hit with the wife. As for the experience, it was top-notch. The staff were absolute champs, handling our rowdy group with ease and adding to the overall fun factor of the evening. Ambience-wise, think normal lighting with a light-colored interior, but the real star was the impressive ofrenda that added a touch of authenticity to the space. Now, onto the ending thoughts. Here's the deal - Adios keeps things interesting by rotating out their house cocktails regularly. While it's cool to try new concoctions, it's a bit of a bummer if you find your new favorite and it disappears. Nevertheless, with their stellar cocktails and upbeat atmosphere, I'll definitely be making a return trip. Cheers to that!”
“Take your tastebuds on a magical journey that will delight and thrill. This is as authentic as it gets for Greek cuisine in Alabama. There is most definitely truth in advertising as everything was indeed tasty. Since I couldn’t decide on what to order I instinctively went for a whole assortment of different flavor profiles. The baked chicken is the tell , if you go to a Greek restaurant and they don’t have a good baked chicken… walk out. This should be a staple on every single Greek menu. Seemingly innocuous but it is the cannery in the coal mine so to speak for what you can expect for the rest of the meal. It outperformed even my high expectations. Served with a grilled lemon to squeeze over the top it was perfectly salted and not over or under cooked. Our sides were the Greek fries (which were crispy in all the right ways, and a punch of saltiness from the cheese) I asked for some taziki sauce for the chicken but dipped my fries on it as well. Honestly I didn’t even dip the chicken in it because it tasted so good on its own I didn’t have to. I also feasted upon the spinach rice and tabouleh and both were opposites on the flavor spectrum one with warm savory spices that melted with the tomatoes and rice and the other bursting with fresh herbs and spring vegetables with Frekkah which is a roasted green wheat that adds such a wonderful texture and pleasant yet slightly nutty flavor. The orzo “Mac and cheese” is no ordinary Mac and cheese side, this Greek version of a classic dish had such an amazing mouth feel with some garlic and herb notes that just elevated it to the next level. And I’m going to end where we started which was with the appetizers. I can never get past the spanakopita (which is heavy on the dill just like I like it) But today I added in the garden humus which had fresh limas and asparagus with an array of herbs with a drizzle of olive oil… and that is just the topping, underneath laid a silky smooth hummus that was not grainy or bitter . The fresh pita sent me over the moon… I was in greek heaven. The chicken pita was like having all the freshness of the salads and the spot on roasted chicken all in one…. So you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. I have yet to try something I absolutely didn’t love . We were so stuffed that we had to get the desserts to go but my god … if you haven’t been here you are missing out on one of the best restaurants Birmingham has to offer. It’s a hidden gem in plain sight.”
“First of all let say that this is the best corn ever and I have traveled many places.. The welcoming atmosphere and the service was amazing, but the first bite into that corn was crazy I left no kernel behind ?? absolutely delicious and my family and I will be coming back. I 100% ”
“In town visiting and decided to try this place. Glad I did, because from the service, to the food, and atmosphere, it exceeded expectations. Krystal took our orders and although I have no dietary restrictions, my friend was ordering for his wife and was very happy that they were able to accommodate with items being gluten free. Especially on Tuesdays. Will definitely return and visit.Ordered the hot chicken and waffles. You’re able to substitute the wings for tenders. Waffle had flavor by itself and the fresh warm peaches with house made butter complimented each other very well.”
“Emma is one of the best servers I've had in a long time was very fast getting everything out and made our dining experience much more enjoyable would def recommend sitting with her!”
“Truly the greatest cake that’s ever existed. When your best friend is a wedding planner, you get to taste a lot of cake. NOTHING compares to Daughter’s Wedding Cake. Truly, no cake comes close. The Gluten Free Chocolate cups are worth the drive to get in person. I could never love another cake more. Staff is also so sweet, always.”
“I go here almost once a week because its close to work, and food is always delicious and consistent. This is a quick pasta place, it is not fine dining, so manage your expectations. The owners are very nice and always helpful. If they mess something up they will fix it and go above and beyond for you. Simple pasta dishes with easy to identify ingredients. Open Kitchen, you know what you are getting. Portions are decent size and fresh ingredients. Also try the amazing tea assortment! I'm a big fan!Vegetarian options: everything I get is vegetarianParking: plenty of parkingKid-friendliness: unfortunately, pretty kid friendly lol ; )Wheelchair accessibility: very accessible”
“This was our first time visiting here but it will not be our last. Wonderful service and food! Staff was very knowledgeable about the food choices ? and quick to respond to every need!Parking: Parking is hard so definitely go for the valet.”
“Great atmosphere and location. They have a great variety of local beers and a full menu which many breweries in town don’t have. Service is always top notch. Definitely a loca spot and one I love going to. Being close to Railroad Park and Barons field is an added bonus.”
“I love being able to walk to get coffee, and living in Avondale, Punch Love is always my go-to. High-quality and expertly brewed, I have always had a great experience and an even greater latte. With my work schedule, my only critique is I wish hours either opened a few minutes earlier or stayed open later into the afternoon, but c'est la vie.”
“Great coffee shop to visit when in the area. Asked the cashier/barista what she recommended and she suggested the caramel latte and it was delicious. Definitely give them a visit if your in the mood for some coffee. Bought a really cute shirt here too!”
“Best ceviche I have ever had - and I’m from a costal state where it’s very popular. The atmosphere was great and our waiter was awesome! I had the Masa Custed Trout - 10 out of 10!! My son had Barbaccoa quesadilla, it was great too! Little one had a bacon quesadilla he ate ALL of it shocking for put 9 yo! Seriously though, go! You won’t regret it!!”
“I had the fish and chips and loved the pork belly appetizer. Great service and atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back to try another dish. The sauces were delicious!”
“Came for casual early light dinner and that is exactly what I got. We ordered the Holy Moley and the Fish and Chips Bowl, both were fresh, crisp, and delicious. Service was phenomenal and I enjoyed music.”
“My partner and I were in town from California and this place is the ticket for true coffee consumers. Clean space with a great vibe . The coffee is fantastic and the staff is spot on and friendly. Can t wait to return. Thanks guys”
“First time visiting definitely not the last time though. Lots of dishes that looked so good. It was hard to decide. Check them out. You won't be disappointed.”
“I absolutely love this restaurant! I highly recommend trying their Grilled Salmon. it's the best. I come here almost twice a week for lunch, and every bite reminds me of home cooked meals.”
“Stopped in for a bagel but they didn’t have this morning. Instead had a prepared snack and a chocolate milk. I will be back! What gem located in historic Ensley.”
