“Dots is the premier soul food restaurant in the Huntsville/Decatur area. The food is good. Authentic. Reasonably priced. I love that it's served cafeteria style. It makes for a faster service. I'm always amazed that other similar restaurants don't adopt the cafeteria style serving method. In today's busy world, time is very important.”
“This place never ceases to amaze me. If you look close you will see Fried Cabbage. I ain’t never. Everything they fix is top shelf. I have renamed the owner Paul Dean. She is amazing. Then she brought out this Fried Apple Pie. Let us pray.”
“What a lovely little spot! I mapped myself over to grab a drink for the road a couple of weeks ago. This coffee shop seems pretty out-of-the-way (to me at least -- but I'm not a local so maybe I'm missing something), to the point where I thought maybe my GPS was wrong. But it wasn't, so if you check this place out, have faith in Google maps! Lol. The signage is a little small but I promise it's there! It's near Austin High School and behind a small gas station/mini-mart.There's a spacious parking lot out front and a small patio for nicer days than the day I visited. It was super quiet and cozy inside, and it smelled great! I saw one person working on his laptop, and I'd definitely agree that this is a great place to hunker down and focus. It's mostly a table and chair setup but there's a couch too, iirc.Service was a highlight -- the barista was super kind and bubbly and eager to help with all my questions. She listened to what I liked and provided several excellent recommendations. I can't remember the exact name of the drink I got because I delayed too long between visiting and writing this review, but it was a specialty mocha of some sort, either the Smithy Special or the Beam Bonfire. I'd guess the Smithy Station as I'm not usually super into marshmallow stuff. Whatever I had, it was sweet, smooth, creamy, beautiful, and an appropriate size for the fairly low price. I'd get it again! They have small, typical coffeeshop snacks (think pastries, etc) and change up specials depending on the time of year. I'm in Decatur somewhat often for work, especially during the winter months, and this may be one of my new preferred coffee shops. Thanks for a nice first visit!”
“This is our new favorite place to get a great Burger ? people are wonderful ? place is cozy like home. I would recommend too everyone who's looking for real home cooked dinning and compfort all in one awesome experience ? thank you ”
“First time here today (from Huntsville) and it was as an amazing experience! Food was hot and delicious! I’ve had stomach surgery so the “small plate” was the perfect size for me! Will be back here for sure!”
“Great location with lots of potential. The margarita was average, tasted like a bottled mix and I received a small instead of the large that I ordered. I'd just order a tequila and soda with lime next time. The table I was sitting at was falling apart. The food is served in a to-go box even though I didn't order it to go. I guess they get the food delivered from a local Mexican restaurant. It had a weird cheese sauce all over the burrito that I wasn't expecting. I think they would do better just serving cold cut sandwiches, salads, cold sides and shrimp cocktails rather than mediocre Mexican food from down the road. Weird management style. The server did her best for what she was working with. The owner could really step it up here by putting forth just a little more effort and pride into their establishment. I'd go back for a drink but definitely not food.”
“As usual, Smokey C’s is the best lunch place around Decatur. The food is outstanding and everyone is super nice. You can always tell a good restaurant by the length of the line. Even though the line is almost out the door every day. It moves quickly because of their great serving and cooking team. The flavor & tenderness of their smoked chicken can’t be matched by anyone else. With a large selection of sides, you can get just about any combination you like. Don’t forget an order of deviled eggs.”
“Really good quality Mexican food! Dine in experience was not bad at all! Order was quick and tasted great.** Pickup orders are usually ready very quickly. Mine took 5 minutes & it was great.”
“We had lunch here today for the first time. We tried the pork plate, pork sandwich, potato salad, baked beans and slaw. Everything was so good. Pork was not dry at all and very flavorful. The slaw and potato salad are both mayonnaise based and delicious. We will definitely be back.”
“While there, 2 separate drive through orders wanted entire pies; So I tried the fudge pie and it was amazing! We were just driving by. Super happy with food (nachos, BBQ, beans and potato salad). Very quick service.”
“Best bar-b-q pork in the area. Friendly staff and a typical bar-b-q joint atmosphere.Wheelchair accessibility: Didn't see any handicap parking spaces. Building is not particularly handicap friendly, but not impossible with assistance.”
“Drove by a couple days ago and stopped in. The place is very casual and very friendly. The catfish platter was very good: fried catfish, onion rings, hush puppies, and slaw. The slaw was different from what I've ever had and not to my taste, but everything else was very good.OTOH, my cardiologist may not have approved of all the fried food.Looking at the pics I wish I'd had the pecan pie.”
“Today's (3-23-24) online order was great! Delayed bc of only having one driver! But when I called the store to find that the manager was so nice and understanding! Thank you so much!!”
“I've always enjoyed eating at the sale barns. I'm from Texas and those are the best steaks usually. Mel's service is great and the steaks have a great flavor. Could be a lil thicker, but great either way!”
“The customer service at this restaurant is amazing. My mother-in-law is spending some time with us, she's from the Smith lake area, she always wants to eat at our EL JACK'S food is always fresh. We went thru the drive thru her card wouldn't work the chip was damaged, it was closing time, they waited for us to go down the street to the convenience store to get cash from the ATM, that didn't work, she wanted to go back and see if they could type the number in. She called and let them hear that she had money in her account, they just gave her the food and told her to have a nice evening. So thank you JACK'S for making her night. That was the 1st time she had been able to get out of the house in a few months. #kindness #nice gesture's #eating at JACK'S in ur 70's #”
“Jack's is the most dependable place to get food on the drive to work. Their service is amazing!!!It's my favorite pit stop for breakfast ?.Starbucks might make you late, but Jack's makes you early or on time to work. In & out in under 5 minutes if no line, 10 mins MAX if there is a line. The ladies are so sweet, and Jack's saves lives and keeps people sane with all the quick service during morning rush.Thank you so much.”
“My order was wrong, I called them they said to come back. I wasn’t driving all the way back. I asked them to just put my name down and I would stop back by and pick up at a latter date. They said no you will have to come back now. I called headquarters they said to take it up with local store. Wow waste of time and unhappy kids, they wanted their food.”
“Brought a fish plate it was great don't know the people there but they were all nice I would go there again even though I don't eat out very much place clean and everyone friendly .”
