Watkins is an incredibly charming Bourban bar and Brasserie within walking distance of The Grand Bohemian hotel. The high quality food and cocktails paired with chic decor make it the perfect place for a date or Happy- Hour with your friends. The food is delicious and complex. Highly recommend!

Gorgeous and unique space with exceptional bourbon selection and food. I love the vibe. Decor is beautiful. It’s down to earth and doesn’t try to be stuffy like other places in Mountain Brook. The quality of food and cocktails is phenomenal. I love the accordion windows that open up to the street. This is a hidden gem in Birmingham and a must visit.

Unique. Special. Nostalgic. This is, without a single doubt in my mind, the best spot to get Sunday dinner in the entirety of the birmingham metro.A quaint, cozy little bar and restaurant in mountain Brook pulled off the unthinkable: a SINGLE menu item offer during dinner. And it doesn’t disappoint. Well, it does disappoint… bc eventually you’ve eaten all of it and you’ll wish there was more. The chef has devised a “one special dish” on Sunday nights exclusive, where he makes only one dish…. And the best way I can describe it is “nostalgia for dinner”. We paired it perfectly with a cab blend that didn’t just work with the pot roast and veggies, but also with the home made blueberry open faced cobbler that was the perfect amount to share for 2.Dinner was delicious and perfectly cooked, reminding me of the truest form of Alabama home cooking. Comforting, inviting, and extremely flavorful. My only regret was that I simply didn’t have enough stomach room for a second order. It was that good.According to the restaurant, each Sunday will be a new, uniquely crafted dish by chef. Exclusively one dish for dinner from 5 to close, only. If you want something truly unique, special, and delicious, I can’t suggest this more vehemently. However, I would STRONGLY suggest a reservation, regardless of party size as their space is limited and waiting for this meal, watching everyone eat before you, is not recommended, as the room will fill with the incredible smell of your childhood kitchen, making you wish you had prepared for the evening more efficiently. There IS a backside patio, but alas it is winter, and who knows what the temperature will be right now. So, plan accordingly. My girlfriend and I have finally found an amazing Sunday evening place to have dinner…. But who would even call it dinner? No, this isn’t dinner. This is a childhood meal as an adult, and we couldn’t have loved it more.

It took forever and the steak came out raw. The side of grits for $5 was a joke as well. Not coming back.

I was in town today, and was looking for a neat place to have a bourbon and some brunch, and I landed on this place. Now added to my favorite places in Birmingham.I walked in and was immediately greeted by the staff. It’s a very small place, but comes across as cozy, not cramped. I felt immediately welcome and comfortable.I sat down at the bar and met Krystal (sorry if I spelled it wrong), who was just an absolute delight. I asked her to recommend a bourbon, and after a few questions about my preferences, she found the PERFECT recommendation from their broad selection of whiskeys. I sipped on my whiskey and ended up ordering their brunch breakfast sandwich (forget the name), which not only was a great meal on its own, but paired wonderfully well with my bourbon.I stayed for an hour or two, and had an incredible time talking with Krystal and some regulars at the bar. Tried a few whiskeys, and all were incredible. I hope to go back for dinner sometime soon.I can’t recommend this place enough.

I was recently here for a private event on a Monday night. The vibe here is cozy and chill. The food and service were both amazing!! The bar manager, Krystal did a great job taking care of everyone. I really enjoyed the entire night! I will definitely be back to checkout their brunch!!! They are working on culver rd , so be aware of this on going construction.

Small intimate place with Marci Gras- like music playing, good service, great BRUNCH.My mom and I enjoyed the egg’s Benedict over fried green tomatoes topped with avocado and bacon. The chef made sure we were happy. The server was polite. We stumbled across this bc Another Cracked E** had an hour wait.I highly recommend!

Food service and drinks were amazing! Krystle was our bartender and she is so sweet and knowledgeable on her drinks! She was able to custom make me something that was tasty and delicious. Our friends and I decided to end up eating there instead of the brunch place nearby that we were previously on the waiting list for. Thank you Krystle!

I hate being critical on a first visit but this place desperately needs some help. It was very obvious most of the patrons there were getting impatient waiting for food orders. Orders were coming out divided so half a table had food and half was still waiting. My wife’s food came out a good 10 minutes before mine and definitely appeared to have been sitting back in the kitchen as butter was completely melted. Seemed to be a great deal of confusion putting orders in and determining why people didn’t have food yet. A/C return was very dirty and items that should have been stored out of site were readily visible from the bar. Both the dishes we tried were subpar at best. This is a great location but someone who knows how to run a restaurant needs to step in and correct the issues.

I stopped by Watkins Branch for a much needed happy hour one evening. I loved soaking up the sun by the windows near the bar. The decor is also pretty chic and there was plenty of room for groups. The staff was very friendly and gave great menu and drink recommendations. I tried the Vivane and a Manhattan cocktails, they were great. The spinach dip was the creamiest I've ever had and those chips made the perfect pairing. The crab cake is full of crab and so big I couldn't finish it all.Looking forward to coming back to try one of their bourbon pairing dinners!

Walked in @6:30 and not a person was there. Not a good sign Ordered drinks ($14-$16) each. Then had the salad , wings, truffle fries. All very good and the farm burger($25). Which was way over cooked. Asked for medium rare. Not sure I'm Going back. $175 for a few apps drinks and $25 overcooked burger.not sure how this place is still. open. Service was fast though
