We visited Chuck’s Fish night before leaving our daughter for her Junior year. This was our first time at this restaurant. While we arrived one hour + to put our name in list, we were told we would not be able to be served prior to closing. Feeling a bit frustrated we did speak with the manager, Will Turner. We were offered to eat at the bar. We decided to at least get a couple appetizers at bar and see what happens. Will came back within 15 minutes and being we were only 3 people, he found us a table upstairs in the sushi loft!!Chris was our server, he was awesome and knew the menu so we’ll; to help us order.Food was excellent (non sushi) we will definitely return and try the sushi next!!Great manager, service & food!! Go early though frustrating they don’t take reservations :)
It was my mom's 93rd birthday and I wanted to take her to a special place that she would enjoy. She just loved Chuck's. She had the sea scallops and loved them. Mom also liked the chardonnay so I asked our waiter what wine the bartender had poured for mom. He was so sweet and brought the bottle over to our table so I could see the label and copy down the name and vintner. Milou Chardonnay. Mom liked the chardonnay so much she had a second glass. Heck if you make it to 93 you'd have a second glass of wine too! BTW I had the seared tuna and it was fantastic. We will be going back very soon to Chuck's and I will be ordering some sushi next time. Their sushi menu is quite extensive with many varieties to try. Good seafood, good service, good wine equals a good time. P.S. They have pizza too cooked in their pizza oven. That looked good too. Go to Chuck's.....you won't be disappointed!
Wow, my absolute favorite place to eat seafood in Birmingham! The grouper is divine, the scallops are heavenly and the red snapper is to die for! I know other Birmingham and Tuscaloosa restaurants claim to have great seafood but Chuck's is the best as far as I'm concerned. Oh, the staff is friendly and wonderful and everything else is great too but the FOOD! Go for the food, you won't regret it!
My husband and I visited here often. Very good service and dinner was always wonderful!Toby and Cindy Dodson
Fresh food! Great service (thanks Chris), only down side is they do not wear their masks so that felt a little uncomfortable. Other than that, we loved it!
Scallops are delicious.
I wish I could give chucks 4.5 stars. 1st off the food and service is excellent. My wife and I had the gumbo crab cakes and snapper topped with a crawfish cream sauce. The crab cakes were tasty but were missing a nice crust. The gumbo tasted great and I think is the best in the area. Now on to the main dish. We split the red snapper and it was wonderful. But the small portionmade me wanting more. To end it off we tried the bread pudding and it was insanely good! I won't hesitate ordering this again next time. Our bill was a little over $100. Thats a little pricey for the portions you get. Had we ordered 2 entrees I would not eat there because it would have been probably close to $140. If Chucks could keep the cost a little lower it would definitely earn a 5 star rating. If you want a good diner with great atmosphere and its a special occasion I think Chucks is a wonderful option. We will return at some point when the budget allows.
I had swordfish, broccoli, and stem green beans. It was good. The tall caucasian male with black glasses waited on us and he was so pleasant. I loved the meal.
Noisy. Busy. Crowded. Food was good but s l o w in the process. Probably not the best place for conversation over dinner. Nice meal but don't be in a hurry...
Very good atmosphere and food. Service was quick and friendly! We will return again soon.
Was seated right away. I asked for the upstairs bar. It was a Monday evening, campus was out for the summer. I ordered the tuna sushi and asked the chef to make another roll and he got to choose. Both were amazing. Would highly recommend. Staff was very friendly. I was recommended this restaurant by a friend and the local brewery down the street.
Sesame-seared tuna (split for 2), kimchi Brussels, and the "TNT" for our sushi. All of it was amazing. We have been wanting to try Chucks for a while now and it definitely did not disappoint. Phillip was our server and he was great!!
I’ve never given a review but this place was that bad. 1st, the two hour wait time for three people waiting on terrible sushi on a non-busy night is mind boggling. The waitress messed up one of the orders and gave a raw steak roll to a vegetarian. This wouldn’t have been an issue if they didn’t put the new roll of sushi on the same plate with the raw beef juice on it!! The rolls tasted absolutely terrible and not what we expected for $11 a roll! The other rolls almost had no meat/fish in them and now all of our stomachs are hurting. The manager was extremely unprofessional and had a nasty attitude when asking us what was wrong. I’ve never complained about a restaurant but this was the WORST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER!! Such a waste of time and money. Oh, and club soda from the tap is $3.00. Not what we expected at all!
Good food and good service! From the sashimi to crab cakes to stuffed shrimp, everything was delicious! We will be back.
Great food! Great service!
