Hokkaido is one of the most popular Japanese restaurants in Tuscaloosa, so if you are looking to go here at a normal time ,expect a crowd. The food here is good, but a little on the saltier side. Most of the time, the food is fresh and seasoned well. The last visit I had, my salad was not so fresh, but the rest of the food was great. I am a sucker for crab Rangoon, but I feel like I get more of the fried batter than the filling. They still taste great, and the chili dip it comes with is fantastic. I usually stick with the chicken Hibachi. I have tried the steak and the filet, but if you get either, you will probably want to dip them in yum yum sauce unless the recipe has changed. Personally, if I have to use a sauce on a steak, i don't like it. I'm not saying the steaks aren't good. I'm just saying the chicken is better. My wife usually gets sushi rolls when we go, and they are delicious. The dragon roll is my personal favorite. All in all, if you go at an odd time or don't mind the wait, this is a great Japanese restaurant.

The food was not bad. The soup was a little salty today. The rice had some hard pieces in it. But requested extra veggies my server said there was an upcharge which I expected however she said she was going to let me know how much but I guess she forgot. I didn't expect a $7 upcharge for extra veggies. If I would have known that I wouldn't have gotten the rice.

Best customer service in town. The manager (gentleman approximately 60 years old), server (young woman approximately 20 years old), and host (young man approximately 20 years old) were all three superb. I had an unexpected issue arise and had to leave early. They went above and beyond to help me. I've never seen hospitality like that. All the manager said was, "No problem, just come back and see us again". I will be back many many times Sir. You have a loyal customer for life. The food is great and the people are incredible. Went to purchase gift card was made wait outside for 10 minutes before they open for dinner just to purchase a gift card with everybody in their not a good experience.
