“As tourists, we ate twice in two consecutive days, and the second time we came back and thought it was really good.I went to Nanaimo during the holidays and came across this Chinese restaurant. Unexpectedly, it surpassed all Victoria Chinese restaurants in my heart. We ate Guobao Pork, Boiled Fish, Couple's Lung Slices, Fish-flavored Shredded Pork, Maoxuewang, Salt and Pepper Squid, and Yangzhou Fried Rice.Overall, it’s delicious and great for replenishing energy during the trip! It's spicy but not irritating, and it's also very fragrant. After eating, your body feels warm. Although the restaurant serves a full range of cuisine, it is by no means an ordinary local old Cantonese recipe. Living here for more than ten years, I have really had enough of the daily stir-fry dishes made in Guangdong and Hong Kong.Talking about these dishes individually, let’s talk about the shortcomings first: Husband and wife’s beef slices are a bit ordinary. We also make them at home. They are delicious, but not as eye-catching as others. The ingredients for Maoxuewang are the same as boiled fish, not much distinctive. In terms of advantages: The pot-baked pork is perfect, surpassing VIC and the four van restaurants we have eaten at so far. Salt and pepper squid, very fresh, not too salty, delicious! The shredded pork with green pepper doesn't have a particularly strong bean paste flavor, so it's delicious. Yangzhou fried rice, the portion is generous, the dishes are well-balanced and delicious!“
“Drove from Duncan area just to try the buffet. We were not disappointed. Food was fresh, nothing tasted the same as the other. Service was great, the kid cleaning the tables is one of the hardest workers I've seen in years and made a point of telling the head of staff. Little pricey but considering the options, how good it was, a generous amount of seafood options (not just battered prawns) we will definitely be back!“
“We've been here a couple times and LOVE the atmosphere and attention to detail in the decor! Service has been great both times and the server was attentive, though it hasn't been very busy in the restaurant so can't say if that might result in a different experience. The food is mostly tasty and not heavily salty or sweet which is refreshing. Meat and veggies are well cooked and fresh, and not overdone, though there's something possibly acidic missing that could be added to give the flavour a bit of punch. Other than that we were happy with our orders of Singapore noodles and cashew chicken, plus egg rolls. We would recommend to anyone looking for simple and tasty Chinese food in Nanaimo, with great ambiance!“
“Comfortable place, the staff are always prompt and friendly. The buffet consistently has food we enjoy with great flavour. With prices going up everywhere, this is our go to for dinner out.Parking: Lots of parking, maybe busy in the day with other businesses open, but at night there is alot.Kid-friendliness: Family friendly and high chairs available.“
“My wife and I went to the food court in Woodgrove Mall, Nanaimo a few days ago. We chose the three choices meal from the Manchu Wok. We chose Sweet & Sour pork, Salt & pepper fish and Honey & Garlic chicken accompanied by vegetable fried rice. There was plenty for the two of us. The meal was very tasty and enjoyable and represented excellent value for less than C$ 15. Staff were very helpful. I'll be going there again!“
“Simple but hearty !!Definition of comfort food for me !We were a bit late for lunch and ate up on their lunch time a bit but they were very nice and helped us out even during their lunch hours !Ambience is clean and well maintained! Had their combo 3 ( swapped pork with chicken) and their chopsueyRecommended!“
