Nestled in the heart of Nelson, BC, Port 701 is a culinary gem that offers not only delectable dishes but also the best restaurant view in town. I always eat here when I’m in town for business. The menu does change once in a while but I always find something new to try. They now have sushi on the menu which is so good.

My wife and I stayed for five days at the Prestige Resort and ate often at Port 701. We were very happy with the breakfasts we ate there and several lunches. First our servers were great! Cedrick and Manny took very good care of us during our morning meals. They were both very friendly and served us well; very willing to converse when not busy. The food was also very good and ample as opposed to some of the higher rated restaurants in downtown Nelson. With a great view of the lake and a nice fireplace to sit by we enjoyed eating at Port 701.

Dinner with friends. Server was excellent, attentive yet not overbearing. Some of the best service I have received in Nelson. The food was overall very good. Unfortunately the vegetables served with the entrees were over salted which took a bit away from the overall experience. Appys and desserts were excellent and the steaks were cooked perfectly. The space is very nice, coupled with lake and Mountain views it is the best venue in town by far. I’ll will definitely be back.

Ordered the Steelhead trout. They were out. Waitress recommended the Tiger Roll. When it finally arrived, it had way too much mayo for my liking. The 'tempura' batter on the Ling Cod tasted more like the coating on a corn dog. Not worth the trip.

Kitchen is SLOW. Eggs benedict sauce was cold. Avocado was overripe and tasted bad....Servers are pleasant? The waterfront location is pleasant when the weather cooperates.

Great place to take breakfast. They offer an excellent variety of Benny eggs. I tried the mango avocado and my friend the salmon benny. Excellent service and atmosphere.

Best patio in town because it's the only waterfront one. Had sushi for lunch, the tiger roll and a couple tuna nigiri. It was good and fresh, very expensive and no where near worth paying that much for and the service was terrible as it always is and is always expected. Going there is only for the views and never about the food or service. They just never seem to ever get that a restaurant is about great food and service. If it wasn't for their waterfront patio I'd never go there again. Such a waste of a beautiful space.

There were 8 of us, with a reservation. Arrived at 10:30. Ordered and then waited 55 minutes for meals to arrive. None of them were hot. Crab Benny.. the crab cakes were cold, as were the eggs. Good location, poor service

So far we're really bummed with the new menu (apparently it changed a few months ago.) The old menu had a great poke bowl and the best beef dip sandwich I'd had. The new menu cut the beef dip. There is still a poke bowl but we didn't try it to see if it had changed. My husband ordered the bento box and it was really disappointing- deep fried prawns, the tiniest bit of spinach salad and 4 pieces of a mediocre California roll. It came with big blocks of tofu, not the chicken stated on the menu. The side miso was so tiny and was flavourless. It was more like a $15 meal, not worth the $28 we paid. I had the mussels and they were good but the sauce was so salty I could barely eat it.I love the patio, that's why my husband and I tend to go there when we get a night out but we're not happy with the new menu, at least after the last visit.
