“Delicious catfish, and yummy shrimp. You can taste the love in every bite. Seating is family style with old school picnic tables, but there is plenty of space. The staff were friendly, and food came quick after ordering. I'd definitely go back for their black eyed peas alone“
“I must say I have never been impressed by any kind of beef cooked here on Mt Vernon, but I love the Salad bar! It has more than enough variety between desserts, fruit, salads, tacos, beans, etc for me to be satisfied And, the salad bar is cheaper than a meal and it's all you can eat. Love Sizzler!“
“An unplanned stop turned out to be the best decision for lunch. Upon entering the premises, we were greeted with smiles and taken to a table. Chips and salsa verde were immediately delivered with menus. We shared the Suiza — chicken enchiladas and it was delicious. We rarely clean our plates but this time we did. Small distraction was the loud music but we forgive them “
“Surprisingly, this is a great place for vegans! They have plant-based options with vegan sauces. ‘Fish’ n chips and ‘shrimp’ bowl mains and fries, rosemary zucchini, cilantro slaw, beans, and rice sides. The staff is knowledgeable and careful when it comes to ensuring items are vegan.Vegetarian options: Great vegetarian and vegan optionsDietary restrictions: Many vegan options“
“Fantastic, original food. Cooked fresh. Cook comes out offers you tastes of other dishes. It is a little hoke in the walk, but plenty of food. Hot Pot Bulgogi soup is best I have had. Service is quiet but efficient. Offers 5 little dishes to try prior to entree.“
“We had a great lunch here table of 8 people. The fish and chips were great. Others had sandwiches and chicken picotta , and the chef Jose was making it happen in the busy kitchen. Everyone enjoyed their lunch choices. Dont eat the garlic fries there addictive lol. .We had fun with the lottery while we waited for our food they had the California lottery scratcher machine and keno. Our server Brittany could not have been any better taking care of us all. She seated us , got drinks, and served our food quickly. Just the right amount of time didn't feel rushed and didn't feel like we were waiting. We were out of there in an hour. Brittany tells us they offer weekday lunch each day. We had a great time! We sat in the front bar area. However, they have added a large covered seating area out back very nice addition. The place felt clean, and the bathrooms were clean. You must try this place at least once, and if you haven't been in a while like myself, there are a lot of changes for the good . I do recommend better ventilation in the kitchen for a couple of reasons, but im not complainingill go back. Overall, it was a great experience .Parking: Don't stress, parking is like any great hole in the wall , they don't have a huge parking lot but there's street parking and a short walk. Or get there outside of busy hours like noon . I'm not complaining about parking. I'd rather walk a ways to a good /fun place than pull right up to a bad one, lol don't let parking stop you. You could always drop off someone who doesn't walk well at the front door.“
“This is my go to place when in Bakersfield. The folks there always do a great job of taking care of me. The shrimp bucket is fantastic. I always add sausage to it and that makes it all the better. The Cajun fries are the best with a little shrimp bucket juice on them.Kid-friendliness: They have great options like fish and chips and chicken strips.“
“The food is amazing and the service was exceptional. I would definitely recommend this great restaurant to anyone that is looking for a great dining experience. We both had the piccata chicken, I had the Alfredo and my wife had the raviolis. They were absolutely “
“This place is hidden in the back of a very large bazaar of Latino shops. When you get to the back,it's really a food court with two stages for live music, and similar. Mariscos is separated out from the others. The physical separation probably has to exist because of Utah's liquor laws. It's also the only place with table service. The menu is in Spanish, and when we had some questions, our server needed to get someone with better English skills. This entire facility is not one that is catering to Anglo's. That said, we never felt out of place, and I assume most likely some of the most straight up Mexican food comes out of here. It's supposed to be the food of Sinaloa, having not been there, I'll take their word for it. Mariscos is all about seafood. They do everything from a whole fried tilapia to ceviche and oysters on the half shell. Most of the people were eating large stemmed glasses of shrimp cocktail ceviche. We went with a dozen oysters of the half shell covered with ceviche and a shrimp on stop. They were pretty over the top. We found that by removing much of the ceviche we could taste the oyster more, and get it all in our mouth in one bite. We also had a tostada plate of shrimp, limes, red onions, avacado, and something else I could not identify. Along with a Mexican beer, it was a nice lunch. The music was fairly loud. There was a lady singing the words to the music. At various periods she would come around for tip. It was worth the $5 I gave her. This is not likely to be on the regular rotation, but I really enjoyed it, and would recommend it to others. Some of the other booths had some good looking options as well.“
“I go every time I get a chance to call Daddy's I love itParking: There's always a crowd but I've always been able to park it revolves with customers in a good manner with everybody gets a chance to sitKid-friendliness: Very friendly kid friendly is the fish aquarium with live fish in several other little items that really have a kid's attention very kid friendly I'll give it a 10“
“Another amazing place we just happened to find. Stopped for lunch in Bakersfield on our way back to Arizona. We pulled into the shopping plaza that had several restaurants to choose from, and we decided to try El Capitan. Great service and great food. I ordered the combo plater with a cheese and onion enchilada and taco. It also came with rice and beans. I am very picky when it comes to enchilada sauce, and their's was perfect. Hubby ordered the stuffed quesadilla that included asada, cheese, fries, and guacamole. It was so stuffed that he could only eat half, and it was very delicious.“
“Realllly good food, I would definitely come back here again. The octopus was delicious. The shrimp was amazing. I think everything on the menu looked amazing and the place was packed so that's a sign that they're doing things right. If you want mariscos in Bakersfield, this is a very solid spot“
“My wife and I stopped here to get some lunch on the way home from Fresno. The outside was an ugly, old building, but once you go inside, the service, the decor and most importantly, the food was PHENOMENAL! My wife is from Culiacan Mexico, so she's a tough judge and even she was impressed. We will be coming back again!“
“Primera ves en Mariscos Los Juanes y definitivamente regresariamos mi esposo y yo. Encargamos un coctel de camaron cocido, una taco gorbernador y una seca 7 especial todo estaba riquísimo los camarones estaban cocidos ala perfección los mariscos frescos y ricos y el taco delicioso super recomendado“
“One guy was very dull, and made me get my own condiments! Which I'm not upset but they could have told us when we ordered the food! Sorry, for that I just figured let people know about the condiments before they get situated so they are more comfortable in the establishment! Other than that I'm very happy! Thank you!“
“Hey I was blown away, I've been wanting to stop here for the longest time, and to my surprise it turned out to be one of the best Mexican restaurants in Bakersfield that I've been to so far. Stop by anything you order will be enjoyed hand made tortillas with menudo or goat birria and of course their specialty carnitas with some cold beer. I truly recommend this place, come try it you'll love it.Tell them I sent you, -Ramon OrnelasAnd give Marisol the waitress a good tip, she really works for it, she goes out of her way to please you, you won't be disappointed.“
“Beach barbecue is the style here. Fabulous fish and chips. My favorite is the petite plate. You get a choice of 2 meats: chicken, tri tip, pulled pork or beef. 2 sides: slaw, beans, rice or corn. The tri tip is very tender, but doesn't come medium rare, only cooked all the way. It's still delicious. The pulled pork is good, but a little too fatty for my taste. The chicken is great and you can get all white meat if you want to pay extra. Food is served quickly so if the place looks busy, don't worry you'll be eating in no time.“
“I love this place! I've been coming here for over 10 years! These mariscos are legit. 10/10 would recommend specially on a hot summer day. The charolas are my go to when I'm with my primas and individual plates when I'm solo. Must try!“
“My husband and I were out for date night. My husband mentioned Hungry hunters which we had never been here someone told him about it. But I decided we should give it a try. I am still happy we decided to try something new. The atmosphere was amazing perfect for Date night. Everyone one was so nice and professional. Our waiter kaleb was AMAZING. He gave both my husband and I ideas of what we should go with based off of what we like. And everything was sooo GOOD. My first time having swordfish and it’s my new favorite it was delicious. And I could of stayed there all night the atmosphere, food and people were that great.Vegetarian options: Well I do not eat meat I eat fish from time to time but it has to be wild caught. Which I usually eat salmon but here only the swordfish was wild caught so I have it a try with rice and vegetables everything was amazing.“
“Food was good, service was good, very nice staff. Was my husbands birthday, they made it special, he loved it. The manager goes to each table to greet and thank people for coming. I thought that was nice to do, makes you remember them. Nice people“
“This restaurant is my favorite. The service is always excellent. The food is consistently amazing. The drinks are both tasty and appealing to the eye. The restaurant is clean and has a nice friendly atmosphere ?Parking: There is plenty of parking.Kid-friendliness: The restaurant is very kid friendly.Wheelchair accessibility: It is wheelchair accessible.“
“I kept driving by these guys, located on Brundage, just west of Oswell, wanting to stop in, but never did until today. Big mistake. We'll be back! We got our tacos to go, but saw the food coming out for people who were eating there. Some of the nicest presentation I've ever seen at a taco truck. Beautifully painted terra Cotta plates, artfully arranged food, fancy cut cucumbers,... Now, I can appreciate pretty food, but it's GOT to taste good, or I'm out. Well, our fish tacos were good, no doubt about that. The menu is extensive, so I'll be forced to return over and over again to try more of the menu. Darn. No, really, if you like Mexican style seafood, give them a try. You'll be glad you did.“
“Words can only describe so much of the experience here. The food is amazing with a menu that isn't bloated with too many options. The cooks have their selection mastered, and it an incredible speed that doesn't sacrifice quality.I am able to go out for lunch and walk out happy and with takeout boxes for later. Affordable options that keep me coming back consistently. And the bathrooms are easily cleaner than every other place I've been to.I hope to keep coming back here in the future with friends and family, thank you TenGu : )“
“I ordered the grilled lemon pepper chicken. Comes with steamed rice, macaroni salad and cabbage and broccoli under chicken. Everything comes out fresh. You have to purchase the drink separately. I can eat their macaroni salad everyday. Food is always great here, clean, and wonderful service! This location was at the shopping center off of Calloway Dr.“
“My most recent visit was to have brunch with a friend, but I've been there a handful of times at different hours. The service is always great and the staff is attentive as well as kind. I feel at home when I'm there and the food is affordable.“
“This is a clean and nice place to sit down and eat. My wife and I had lunch she ordered the tacos de camaron Dorados and they were good, I myself ordered a mixta tornado and the portion was big and ceviche was excellent. Great place and prices are great as well would definitely come back.Parking: Kinda of awkward how parking is situated.“
“The loaded shrimp empanadas were delicious! If they were not dressed up with cabbage, sour cream, and other greens they would otherwise seem dry. I ordered the green aguachiles, but I could not eat the shrimp, unfortunately. They were raw and there was a dark vein running through most of them. Also ordered a side of beans and they were ok (maybe they would have tasted better with cheese). Based on the other reviews, I must try this place again when visiting Bakersfield, because they had some other menu items only found on costal Mexican towns, like the pescado zarandeado. I was advised to order ahead because it takes about 45 minutes to prepare. Service was great, restaurant was clean, they had outdoor seating, and the menu was big.“
“I went after the restaurant closed. So haven't tried the food. Went to the night club hours. The most fun I've had in a while. Celebrated my mom's birthday and mine as well. Really friendly staff. Recommend getting VIP table because it gets packed in there.“
“First time here, gal at front was patient in explaining how the system works here ? even let us check out salad bar before deciding if we wanted to do salad bar. Michelle ❤️ our server was amazing. Very attentive, proactive with bringing us refills and enough napkins since we had kids in our group. She did tell me to cut through steak to make sure that’s how I liked it if not so she could take back right away. It was not how I had asked for it but that was not on her. I was hungry so I just ate it. Will definitely be back next time I’m in the area!“
