“Very tasty crawfish étouffée, shrimp creole (both pleasantly but not excessively spicy), and voodoo shrimp (unlike what you might expect from the name, this is savory but not spicy, great for our low-spice companion). Nice service. Laid-back casual atmosphere with live music, but not too loud to talk easily.“
“Great brunch place! The Lama Special is great: two eggs, two pancakes (with butter and maple syrup), bacon and some fruit (price: $15 + taxes). It was very tasty, and the pancakes were especially soft. The food was ready very quickly! Even though the kitchen is open, the place does not smell thickly of food.“
“We wanted a good restaurant close to the Berkeley Playhouse, which had an excellent rendition of Rent, and we were not disappointed with Donato&Co. One of the best things about this restaurant is the wine list – you can get any glass, carafe, or bottle of wine. This is a rarity, especially in the bay area, and it gives you a full spectrum of choices to enjoy. Food was excellent, Including a fantastic black truffle appetizer over a flan like cheese and toasted Parmesan. Pastas were fresh and delicious. Great server who provided excellent recommendations. Highly recommended! “
“Gypsy's Trattoria Italiana at UC Berkeley is a total win! Always hit them up for their lasagna or Godfather pasta - never disappoints. Fresh, fast, and oh-so-good. Bummed they stopped Uber Eats to my area, but still worth the trip. Also, check out the pool hall across the street. Solid gold!“
“I like the sizzling rice soup with extra broccoli. Too many good options to recommend off the lunch menu. The lunch includes a cup of hot n sour soup plus a vegan egg roll and rice. The general Tso's chicken tastes a little better when it cools down. I also like the mushu vegetables with tofu instead of eggs.“
“Food: Top notch sushi. If you want the luxury sushi experience, look no further. The chef himself studied and worked in Japan. Super intelligent man with a lot of knowledge about Japanese sushi. I highly recommend getting the fish of the day. It will blow your mind by how the fish melts in your mouth. If not, get any black cod dish. I get it every time I come here.Service: Awesome staff who hustles to please all customers. Cant thank them enough!“
“Highly underrated! My favorite Nepalese/Indian restaurant in Berkeley. The food is consistently delicious, not too oily or salty and full of flavor. The naan is also some of the best I've had anywhere. Would recommend the chili momos, chicken tikka masala, and saag paneer, but it's hard to go wrong.“
“Delicious, hot, and filling! We ordered the combo 1 w/ mussels and shrimp, calamari rings (w/ fries), and 6 raw oysters. As a party of 3, we left very full. They provided plastic gloves and bibs, but the sauce seems to seep through the gloves a little.“
“I have been here 1827383993x but then I never left a review this place is one of my favorite! very convenient when you are on the go. Pricey for a decent size for onigiri however it is full of toppings. I can't complain. It is always made fresh so that is a bug thumbs up for me.You are able to order by the kiosk and not allowed inside. What sucks is it gets really cold Berkeley. Pandemic is over so I am sure you guys can let people in so they can sit while waiting for the order.“
“Most of the food is good , some are misses. To start: take wasabi - yes, yes, yes! Really good and the portions are generous. Fried octopus was fresh and nice. We didn't like hotate scallop , because they just poured mayo all over it.Ugh, who does it to the Hokkaido ones!! But then they fixed it with Hamachi Kama, the cheek was perfectly cooked, fresh and the sauce was amazing. All in all - an amazing neighborhood izakaya. Maybe not worth a drive from SF, but if you're here - it's a good place to visit.“
“Fried Catfish Sandwich was very good! I would order it again. The bread was Dutch Crunch but they take out some of the white part so it's a good bread to sandwich ratio, nice touch! Seating outside, nice for a sunny day. Drinks, beer, chips and candy available for purchase too. Enjoy!“
“Poke Parlor is hands down my favorite poke place in Berkeley (visited over 20 times according to my Snackpass rewards)! Don't confuse this place with Poke Bar in Sather Lane as this one is much better. I love the variety of options across the menu. To name a few, you can choose blue tortillas or zucchini noodles as a base alongside other more traditional options like sushi rice, brown rice, or mixed greens. There's also an abundance of veggies that you can add to your bowl without extra costs (cucumber, grape tomato, purple cabbage, etc.) You can order on Snackpass for rewards and convenience. I always look forward to ordering poke bowls on Mondays for their "10% off bowl Mondays" (when you order on Snackpass). I appreciate that the bowls include 2 sides for free with options including masago and crab salad, especially since some poke places charge extra for these sides. Pros: -Great variety of options across the menu-Ingredients taste fresh-Ability to order via Snackpass for rewards & convenience -Proximity to UC Berkeley campus Cons:-Little to no seating. Maybe one table or two outside-Sushi burritos were not my favorite. Highly recommend ordering a Poke bowl instead“
“If this place were not so far from my home, I would be there at least once a week. The rice beans and chips and salsa are always the ultimate test for a Mexican restaurant. La Cabana does not disappoint. the food is really good and the service is always pleasant and efficient. The ambience is pretty typical for a Mexican restaurant, but it is definitely a huge space with a nice bar and nice stiff drinks. I recommend the spicy margarita.“
“I got a salad delivered from DoorDash here yesterday and it was so good, I was a little shocked. The salmon was juicy and the skin was crispy even, which I never expect since it takes a while to get delivered. After I wouldn't shut up about it to my husband, we decided to try it in the restaurant today and now we're both scratching our head at how the reviews are so low on Yelp. He had the steak and I had the salmon again and both were DELICIOUS. The quality of both dishes were something we would've paid $30-40 in a nice Napa restaurant. We will definitely add Tender Greens to our restaurant rotation and I'm so glad it's so near us. We hope this Berkeley location thrives and stays open for a long time.“
“There didn't seem to be enough waitstaff. It was very busy, as might be expected on Easter. But even so, the few servers were polite, friendly and helpful. The food was good. My omelet was wonderful and they kindly substituted fruit for potatoes. Some in my party would have liked some low carb options like salad or grilled veggies. One person complained the potatoes were greasy. The Boathouse normally has a seafood roll--but not at brunch. That was disappointing. Ambiance was great--on the marina on a sunny day was lovely. It's hard to reach the restaurant with question. Their voicemail says they will call back. They didn't in my experience. A lot of the items were quite expensive. Many could easily be made at home.“
“Super views of the San Francisco Bay, the City, Sausalito, the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, the Bay Bridge, and everything else in the bay. Located right on the water, upscale menu with steak, lobster, great calamari and many other dishes. Most excellent wine list. Highly recommend.“
“Food: 5/5Service: 5/5Price: 4/5Atmosphere: 5/5 This is still one of my absolute favorite spots in Berkeley. The food is always consistently delicious and the service is great. The ambiance is relaxing and chill. The prices are a bit higher than most restaurants, but the quality of the food is worth it in my opinion.“
