“Nozawa Bar was a great experience and we left very very very full. We booked a month ahead by phone and paid upfront. It's about $225 per person, and with drinks and tax, the bill totaled around $600. There were around 22 courses including dessert. The dishes were incredibly fresh and tasty. The most memorable courses were the Hokkaido Octopus, New Zeland Pink Lobster, Bluefin Tuna Akami, Santa Barbara Uni, Japanese Kinmedai, and the 3 different type of oysters (Kumiai, Kumamoto, Kusshi). There were however a few courses towards the end of the whole dinner that felt like filler pieces such as the Tamago, Maine Lobster, and Japanese Anago (sea eel) nigiri. I could have gone without those courses and felt the menu was a little overpacked. At then end, they gave us a passion fruit sorbet and hojicha tea which was the perfect way to end the dinner. Chef Fujita, his sous chefs, and the staff were very kind and lively. Dinner was very interactive because Chef Fujita made a lot of jokes and interacted with everyone. Dinner setting is also intimate as it is only 10 seats. Overall, great experience and would definitely come back!“

“Will I return: Yes, definitely ?The 'Trust Me' sushi omakase @US$30 was excellent value for money. Overall very good sushi and handrolls. Winner was the warm toro (fatty tuna belly) handroll. Melt in the mouth goodness with a crunch from the crispy seaweed. The umami goodness explodes in your mouth! The tuna sashimi in ponzu sauce was a close second.Unfiltered sake Nigori @US$12 was great value too. If you like sweeter sakes, pick the unfiltered ones.Service is prompt and attentive.Note: 16% service fee is included in the final bill.“

“Quite possibly the best sushi place I've eaten at anywhere in the world, including multiple Nobu restaurants and a few very highly priced and exclusive Tokyo sushi places. I have no idea what their secret is, but everything they serve is world class. Even their miso soup, edamame, and green tea ice-cream send one's palate into raptures of ecstasy! I've taken, and recommended, this well hidden gem to dozens of people. Almost without exception, they have raved about it and become regulars. It's fun to see the animated enthusiasm even among reserved, non-expressive introverts or those with exceptionally high standards who know what outstanding sushi is all about. Fingers crossed that reviews like this don't prevent me from getting future reservations at my absolute favourite sushi restaurant on the planet!“

“I own a Pilates studio down the street on Robertson (Pilates Body Beverly Hills) and I have been in for sushi here several times. It is very cute and is a great local sushi spot. Everything I have had here is always delicious and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. Sometimes I go here after work with my clients and friends and we all love it. It is nice to sit at the sushi bar too and watch them prepare the sushi. I wish they would bring back their happy hour menu though, because that was always a fun place to go for their happy hour and the prices were very reasonable. Overall great spot, and I definitely recommend!“

“The tempura here is amazing. This is the only tempura restaurant on the entire West coast. I believe that the only other tempura restaurant in America of similar quality is the only tempura restaurant in New York (Tempura Matsui). Other than these 2 places, tempura of this standard can only be found at the best tempura restaurants in Japan. The batter is perfect. The oil is pure and just the right temperature. The cooking time is just right. The result is the thinnest layer of crispiness, nothing at all like most Americans are used to. The underlying ingredients (whether vegetables, shrimp, scallops, uni) are top quality and perfectly fresh. True, the restaurant is expensive, but to see how perfect (and greaseless) tempura can be, Temura Endo is the place.“

“First time dining at Matsuhisa having been to a few Nobu restaurants. A much simpler style venue. Personally would make sure to ask for inside seating when booking rather than the extended area outside. Our server was top quality, made some great recommendations and had a great sense of humour. “Placed an order thru DoorDash and arrived to a very busy NYE crowd. Was informed that my order would take longer than expected to be prepared. Joe assured me that he would do whatever he could to expedite my order and politely apologized for the inconvenience. He even took down my number so that he could text me the minute it was ready. Later, when I arrived to pick it up, it was packaged to perfection! Joe had even included a little extra treat as a thank you for being so patient. Thanks Joe for saving my family’s NYE dinner and making it so special!“

“This restaurant is great if you like take out sushi. They used to have a sit down restaurant years ago but has relocated to a pick up only. Sushi rolls are large and justifies the price. It's very tasty and quality is up there. I like how consistent they are. I never had one bad order come from them. You can tell if you're getting questionable fish by the smell of the restaurant and this place never smells bad. I.e. fish that's close to spoiling has this distinct smell. The only downside is that the folks running the place are a bit older so on a busy Friday/Saturday night the order can take a half hour or more. Their website needs a refresh but I uploaded some photos of their menu.“
