“What a lovely, CLEAN, casual atmosphere on 3rd Avenue! The employees are kind and attentive and the food is freshly prepared but... The portions were very disappointing. We enjoyed a very tasty salmon "bento" box but... for $18+ you would expect to get a decent portion of rice to go with the salmon filet (decent portion of salmon but I was struggling to find any rice or Teriyaki sauce on the plate! See picture.) The vegetables were delicious!!! Only two, tiny fried gyoza come on a small bed of mixed salad. The ginger dressing for the salad is served separately and was good but it was so much compared to the amount of salad you get.The actual white plate that the food comes on is huge and adds to the illusion that the food portion is small, which it totally is. It did not scream "bento box."The lemongrass curry sauce on the wings was super yummy even though the wings could have been much crispier. They have canned sodas, canned Thai tea and green tea, Sapporo and other beers.I would reluctantly go back to try some other menu items but I won't expect good portions.“
“Kanpai has been one of my family's favorite Japanese restaurants for at least 2 decades. We dined here tonight for their Beef Sukiyaki. It seems like Kanpai is the ONLY Japanese restaurant in Chula Vista that I know of that has Beef Sukiyaki. The ambiance: From their wooden pendant lighting fixtures to their modern wooden chairs . Kanpai has some booths lined up near the windows... Their Beef Sukiyaki has a lot of flavor, although they're lacking meat. For the entrée costing almost $22, I was expecting that there would be enough thin slices of Sukiyaki Beef. My Beef Sukiyaki seemed like it had an entire onion head that was mixed in with SOME clear Shirataki noodles and small pieces of carrots & cabbage. To Kanpai restaurant- For a suggestion -- Why can't we have the option to order MORE meat À la carte for like $7- $8 more. ** Kanpai, I HOPE you can fulfill my request of being able to order more Sukiyaki Beef... Kudasai/Please... Thank you!!!“
“My experience was not like some of the bad reviews I am seeing on here. This place is legit, definitely one of the better Hawaiian spots in town. The mac salad was great and had fresh ingredients. The chicken katsu was crispy and the bbq chicken was juicy. Excellent customer service and very friendly staff. And very reasonable prices. Checks off all of the boxes for me, so this will probably be one of my go-to spots for this kind of food from now on.“
“So Instagram got me. I saw a reel about how wonderful this Sando place was in Chula Vista. I went and bought a bunch of sandwiches because I wanted to try them all. At best, they are okay. However, the egg is amazing. That was my favorite. The fruit sando was okay and the chicken katsu one was just okay as well. The sushi bundles look reasonably priced. Next time I’ll try that.“
“Only thing, when you walk in it seems like a sewer pipe is burst so not a fun time breathing it in.Food was good though. Hopefully that smell issue is fixed soon. Don't worry, you'll start to not notice it after a few minutes but you'll know it's there “
“This restaurant has very fresh food made when you order it. The prices here, at the China China restaurant, are very cheap.Parking: The China China restaurant has a large parking lot that is free for all those who eat in the restaurant or take away with themselves.“
“Love this place. Food is good, drinks are great. Love the kitchy decor. Have had a host a couple times that made me and my group mildly uncomfortable - almost aggressive about the service but the rest of the staff is amazing. I will say that the speak-easy isn't worth the extra hassle. It's cramped and dark and the drinks and food in the main bar are just as good. Order the garlic edamame - they are phenomenal“
“This place is dope!! After a phenomenal dinner experience, it’s earned our favorite sushi spot in Chula Vista.Happy hour Monday through Wednesday is all day. Lucky us, we had dinner on a Wednesday night here.Immediately loved the vibes.Drinks were great. I loved the mango martini with chili. Our food was just as good. Lemon cilantro roll was the perfect amount of fresh fish, lemon and yummy goodness. The crunchy roll wasn’t bad either! I loved how fresh the shrimp tempura is. We also loved the seared tuna nigiri on the HH menu. It was super spicy and had a smoky kick. We loved it!We were most surprised at the top tier service. All the employees were kind. Everyone greeted us when we got there and when we left. Our food came out soooo fast! I couldn’t believe it. All of our rolls were ready within 5 minutes of ordering it. Insane! Shout out to our server Nika. She recommended the spicy ponzu sauce and I loved it so much. The restaurant is almost like a club. If it’s your birthday, there’s a mini show with cow bells, a happy birthday sign, lights and all.“
“Came in for a quick father-son dinner. Waitress (older Hispanic female) didn't seem too interested to service us and checked up on us maybe twice during the entire meal. Cameron, the other sushi chefs behind the bar, and other wait staff took care of us and gave us a better experience. I regret not having cash on hand to give them the tip they deserve. If I come back, it'll definitely be because of them.Food was fresh and delicious, definitely no complaints there. Food came out at a reasonable pace, considering how busy the restaurant was.“
“Just coming from Japan and out of all the places I have been to here in San Diego, this place has the closest to real flavor in their ramen as you can get. The atmosphere is soft and quiet. The staff is very polite and helpful. I love it here. I wasn't able to taste the sushi but i will be coming back guaranteed. Thank you Izikaya Naruto.“
“I came back twice in the same day ! The rice is so fluffy. Just everything was a chief's kiss. Their food was made with love and passion. Give anything on the menu a try, you will not regret it ! Thank you to the chef and his family !“
