“The wait was about 40 minutes for 6 pm dinner on a Thursday night, which is how you know this place is good lol. The price was pretty good - I paid $14-$15 for tempura udon, and another.. $5-$7 for a small roll of 4 pieces. I forgot the exact price. Anyway, it'll be around $20 per person. The atmosphere is really nice and the interior is cute. It feels clean and well maintained. The sushi was fresh and delicious, and the udon was really good too. This would be a good hangout for friends or a date. Servers were attentive and polite. It was a full restaurant, but it didn't feel too loud or hectic at all. Even though there's a wait, I would definitely come here again and spend time around the plaza or nearby while waiting. There's a handful of dessert shops nearby, which is great for round 2!!!“
“I went there for the first time today, and it was delicious! The server was extremely patient since I felt at a loss, but in the end, I was able to create a flavorful and delicious combo with her help. Also, the blended straberry limonade was amazing, very refreshing! * Everything tasted fresh! I would definitely recommend this place and come back again. The ambiance was very clean with good music.“
“Fantastic dining experience, definitely Michelin star worthy. This is a small and in many ways understated restaurant with very limited seating. The experience is intimate and cozy, with the chef preparing and describing each dish. The sushi bar experience is definitely more of a show than the couple of tables they have. There is only one dining option which is a fantastic omakase.“
“This place is a hidden gem! Always consistently delicious and service is great too! My husband is the one that introduced me here and it's been our go to sushi date spot since! We love sitting at the bar and even came here with our friends - their first time and now they love it too! Their menu has a variety of options...we love the red dragon roll and sexy mango! If you love sushi and great service, this is the place!“
“The sushi here is still really good but the quality in the nigiri and rolls are not the same. I understand the prices rising because the prices have risen everywhere but the portions are extreme small. This used to be my go to spot but now sad to say, not so much.“
“Incredibly fresh fish with generous portions. The classic roles are perfect but even better than those are there unique roles. They balance the flavors really well while also have a nice texture, which is hard to do with sushi!Highly recommend for date night. Also, service was very incredibly good and really fast!!“
“We took our family of 9 here, and many of them were trying sushi for the first time. The waitress was super sweet and the chef gave us double portions with our first order. They also gave us extra Miso Soup. We all wanted more Crazy California rolls so we ordered 2 more rolls, and the chef again gave us double what we asked for! The chef also made something special for us before we got our second order, some kind of fried shrimp with special sauce, and everyone loved it. They went above and beyond! Everyone loved it. If I could give extra stars here I would. These people deserve it. Outstanding service and food!“
“I eat sushi at least twice a week if not more. I've been to the most expensive spots, hole in the wall spots, and everything in between. This place is my new favorite sushi spot in OC! The omakase was one of the best I've ever had, we got so lucky that the owner was there and cooked for us! The fish was so fresh and the service was great too. It's a small restaurant so they are very attentive. The only thing to know is that the parking lot is small and fills up quickly, so get there early to find parking or Uber/lyft!“
“Ordered delayed delivery through yelp. I don't know much about out sushi, only what my husband likes. Ordered a crunchy roll, dragon roll, spicy tuna roll and some other items. The tempura was really good, and the cucumber salad was the best I've had in a while. He also really enjoyed the rolls. Everything seemed fresh and prices seemed reasonable. I love that they have Ramune!“
“I loved these place! I think I liked the experience the most because of the pricing and ambiance. It's a really neat vibe where you can make it a casual outing or dress up -- your choice. The sushi itself was pretty good. I wouldn't compare it to the most authentic sushi I've had but it was pretty tasty. They have an all you can eat special that I would love to try next time. The service again was okay. I think we had a new server who was learning about the sushi itself and what all came in the rolls served but if you can look past that, it was all in all a nice time. I'd come back for another visit!“
“What a gem! Had to go to Costa Mesa for a work conference and discovered this place (thanks to other reviews), and it did not disappoint from service to the food!!!We started with some nigiri pieces. The rice and the fish were prepared with care. The aburi salmon belly just melted in our mouths. A table next to us, who seemed to be loyal & frequent customers ordered 50 pieces! Then we proceeded to bento lunches (such great value) and ate until our hearts content. Great combos from teriyaki, udon, karage (perfectly fried juicy pieces of chicken) and donkatsu to sushi rolls, nigiri and sashimi combos as well.Everyone from the chefs, service members and other customers were happy and laughing during our meals. This was a tough meal to beat since every other business lunch and dinner afterwards seemed to pale in comparison. Our friends went back before their flights instead of free lunches provided by the convention.Vegetarian options: There are salads, veggie rolls and non-meat noodle dishes, although ask about the broth if they use fish sauce or flakes.Parking: It is at the end of a open strip mall so plenty of parking usually.“
“They said their ownership was changed 3 months ago.I was so impressed by their food and service! The amount of sushi rice was small, and the seasoning was not strong, so I kept eating a lot without realizing it. ?I was grateful that the owners and servers kept caring if there was anything else I needed !I will definitely go back to enjoy again!“
“Got the Chicken Teriyaki and my dad ordered a Shrimp Tempura Udon. Was so delicious and tasted neat, just how we like it. The portion was fairly large as well, considering we are not hefty eaters.Service was kindly and quick, and the Christmas decorations were so cute! Definitely coming back :)“
“Cozy place, great food, small businessCame here with some of my friends for a late night dinner, the place was a little busy from a large group, but they got us seated in 15 minutes! The staff was very kind and all of them said hello when we walked in, they also consistently refilled our waters which was perfect. Food was great, all the rolls were delicious and the portions were perfect for the money. We got 5 rolls for the 4 of us and a miso soup each and were perfectly satisfied by the nights end. Highly recommend to stop by and support them, super authentic!“
“Ordered through DoorDash. Items were packaged perfectly and food quality was great. I got salmon sashimi, salmon lovers roll, and crunch roll. I honestly didn't love the crunch roll too much. But didn't hate it. It felt like the tempura was just weird.“
“I was invited to this place, I’m not a fan of sushi, but I can’t deny that I enjoyed the food there. The atmosphere is nice, the service is good, some of the servers were not friendly, but our server was nice and friendly. Go visit the place if you want a good bite of sushi.“
“Great experience tonight. We had a bigger group with a bunch of kids, and they were very accommodating and patient. Food was great, as was the service.I’m not much of a sushi guy myself so I got the sesame chicken with rice and gyoza, and both were fantastic. My family all said the rolls they ordered were amazing, and they all loved them.Parking was easy with plenty of open spots.“
“My husband was Japanese and he always said this is the best sushi and sashimi he'd ever having his life. Sherry and her staff will take amazing care of you. The freshest fish and dishes I've ever had. This is a regular stop for me.“
“The house made udon was super! The texture of the udon had a lightness and springiness which really was a delightful surprise. The soba was also very good. The restaurant also serves izakaya dishes. Fried chicken and beef tongue were good. The duck broth with the soba was excellent. The restaurant itself is a small space and was crowded when we dropped by. There wasn't a long line to wait, but the tables were full. The staff was helpful, but we were looking to order to take away.“
“So there is a best sushi spot in the Newport area... this spot has me hooked, now I'm just waiting for friends to go with me again. For a guys night/girls night/date night this place is perfect. Can't wait to go back!Parking: Easy parking large lotKid-friendliness: The kindest and most accommodating hosts“
