“The food here was really good: the Grilled Beef Curry and the Umami Spicy Shrimp stood out for me, while the Pork Larb, Squid with Salted Egg Sauce, and Brussels Sprouts were above average as well. Fried chicken was just ok in terms of flavor, but was really crispy, which I liked. Staff provided good service, atmosphere was good for conversation, and the prices were reasonable. The only downside is that serving sizes were quite small, and my recommendation is to get a good amount of rice to pair with the dishes. 5 out of 5.“

“I came here on a Tuesday night when the restaurant opened at 5. I recommend making a reservation because the restaurant filled up quickly at 6 and there is not a lot of tables. Very nice interior with Thai music playing in the background. My partner and I got the chef selection set. I think this is the most worth because it offers a lot of variety with meats, seafood, and vegetables. Everything was fresh and I especially loved the meats because it was so tender! The sauces they offered took the food to another level. You should absolutely try all of them; my favorite was the tamarind sauce. Highly recommend ordering the garlic fried rice as your side too. Since it is hotpot and bbq, the waitress recommended us that we cook the meat over the charcoal and the veggies be cooked in the broth. However, I thought cooking some of the meats in the broth made it more flavorful. The broth is a light pork based broth. Overall a delicious and unique experience because this is my first time trying Thai bbq/hotpot. Service was terrific as well!“

“When I visit Thai restaurants, I always get the same things - pad thai, green curry, and pad see ew. Oraan Thai Eatery offers Northern Thai specialty dishes that definitely broadened my horizons in terms of thai food! I'll list some of my favorites below (: *Pineapple Soda Such a refreshing drink that I don't mind having 10 of. It's not too sweet and has a subtle creaminess to it that left me wanting more! *Thai Iced Tea This isn't your average drink - they actually use 3 different types of thai tea to make this. I could definitely taste the difference and recommend this to all thai tea lovers. *Gai Manow This is fried chicken with their house made lemon cream sauce with crispy Chinese broccoli. Honestly this was my favorite dish. The minced chicken was light and crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside. The sauce gave it a nice creamy flavor and I can't wait to be back to order this again. *Sukho Thai Noodle If you're looking for flavor bomb, this dish is for you! This is thai rice noodle topped with roasted pork, crispy pork slices, green beans, peanuts, and chili lime fish sauce. The broth is SO flavorful and good this was the other favorite dish of mine (:“

“Such a hidden gem - One of the best Thai restraunts Iv'e had in the Bay Area! They have a main menu that mostly contains the more standard Thai dishes that might see at a lot of other places. But they also have a hidden menu with some really unique Thai dishes that I haven't seen very often here but had when I visited Thailand and this brought back tons of memories! For the 2 of us, we got the fresh raw shrimp appetizer, papaya salad with blue crab, crab omlette, and stir fried morning glory. All the dishes were yum, but the first 2 were quite spciy! Servers are also super friendly and price is very reasonable for SF especially considering its location in the Marina. Highly recommend!“

“FAVORITE RESTAURANT IN TOWN! I have absolutely NO idea why people line up outside of the crummier Thai places around here to get mediocre food loaded with MSG. Lapisara is the ABSOLUTE best, it’s so hard to find Thai this good anywhere, and this place does an extra bonus trick of being a yummy American brunch place before 2pm… much saner on the wait time for brunch and frankly more generously portioned than its famous brunch neighbor Heist. Tbh I’ve tried almost everything in this radius and now I don’t waste time going anywhere else, I get both brunch and dinner here when I come to SF.I seriously don’t understand why they don’t get more clientele. Tried so many other places in this area and nothing compares. Staff is nice too. Make this your go to instead of lining up for that tiny hole-in-the-wall a few blocks down.“

“This is a great value, and a relaxing dining experience tucked away in a dingy alley downtown. There are some a la carte appetizers, but dinner is prix fixe - a "set" that is centered around a protein (beef, chicken, fish, vegetarian) but comes with about 6-7 dishes total, including dessert. Regular set is $25; specials are $38. We ordered an appetizer to start, which was SO GOOD (brussell sprouts and pork belly), but there is so much food is in the set meal we were really stuffed. Good selection of nonalc bevvies, wines by the glass, but only one beer (Singha!). Room is really lovely oasis in an otherwise dingy alley downtown. Service was a little rushed - seems to be just their standard approach -- which is great if you are trying to get in an out but if you want to not feel pushed out suggest you be very clear about not wanting everything on top of each other, eg, they brought out our main set almost immediately after the appetizer, and the dessert while we were still eating dinner (?) - I actually told them to take the dessert back and serve after we were completely done with dinner.“

“Highly recommend for delicious, well made, Thai food in a cozy no frills spot in the Richmond. Formerly King of Thai Noodle, the chef is the same as before the name change and the menu has a good variety of noodles, curries, soups, rice dishes and appetizers you’d expect (satay, papaya salad) Came here with my mom who loves their sweet and sour prawns-this is an amazing dish, the prawns are coated in a super light crunch that makes the whole dish come together. Sauce was perfectly balanced. I had the Tom yum soup with tofu and it was the perfect sour/hot combo. The bowl was huge. Pad Thai noodles were al dente and dry (a good thing, not too saucy). Service was fast, attentive and friendly. It’s a small space that can fill up quickly but tables turnover relatively fast and this place is totally worth the wait. So glad to have rediscovered this place and happy to have another option for great Thai food“

“this used to be one of my favorite places to get thai food in the city! their pineapple fried rice was heaven, and pad thai was incredible.however, not sure if there's a new chef or rotating cooks or if the recipes have been reworked but lately it has been hit or miss for me. the recipes are inconsistent and sometimes not as tasty as they used to be. for example, the pineapple fried rice used to have more of a distinct golden color and in the past few months or so, sometimes it has had the color, sometimes it hasn't. it also lacks the sweetness it used to have (which, mind you, was never overly sweet just the right amount). last night, my eggplant tofu was undercooked, with the eggplant though to chew rather than soft and slightly mushy as expected. hopefully they can get back on track soon...“

“First and foremost price vs taste 5 stars without question. If you need a quick fill up while exploring the city or mid day get me through you can not go wrong. I had the combination #2 individually the flavors and balance of each portion of the meal is great. I've had bad curry before and this one is good not great. Everything on the plate was balanced well. My only complaint is plating. Next time I will ask for the salad to be plated separately. It's a great addition and needed if you want to clean your pallet. The problem I had was the vinegar spread into Pad Thai noodle and cut into the richness off the dish. I enjoyed the proportion of protein vs noodle and curry. This place gets 5 stars based on the amazing value. If the dishes were in the $20 range than I would be disappointed in single plate plating.Vegetarian options: Need to communicate this with server as many dishes have meat. Including fried won tons.“

It's a softer breading with a good blend of flavors from garnishes. It wasn't a blow your mind first bite, but it was that comfort food "mmmm" taste to me. The Khao Soi is exactly how it should be. The Mhoo Palo is similar to Chinese "hong shao rou" and while it was quite good, I probably wouldn't order again.Value-wise, the menu is priced similar to other Thai restaurants in SF in the same tier of quality.Would come back again to try more dishes. “I never had the Khao Soi noodle soup. Wow. All I could say quietly to my love was "this is so f__ng good! OMG" I understand there could be better somewhere else, I don't know, but what I do know is that I think about this dish almost every day. For me, one of the best noodle soups I've ever had regardless of cuisine. It does have a little kick so if you can't eat spicy food you might think it's spicy. If you can at least tolerate a modest level of spice, then you're good to go. As others have mentioned they like to ask if you want duck instead of what kind of meat which I know can influence your decision. I already knew this before coming here so I was prepared.I ordered it with tofu because I just didn't want meat. The tofu was nicely prepared and not over cooked and tough like too many places make it. That ruins a dish for me. I will probably have meat next time since I do enjoy meat.It is a delicious balance of spice, richness from coconut milk/cream, the warmth of curries, lemongrass, lime... Oh just delightful. I want sure about the noodle choice but after the first bite, I understood.Pad Thai is a nice balance, not too sweet, not overly rich, just to executed. Can't wait to come here again and bring my daughter who loves Tom Kha Gai. This is similar but for me, another level better.“

“Cozy, petite Thai eatery on Lombard, designed to evoke a manicured side street in Bangkok.Tom Kha Soup, a coconut milk broth wonderfully fragrant from lemongrass, kaffir lime leaf, galangal and chili — perfect with a side of rice noodles dipped in.While tasty, the price point seems to reflect more the neighborhood than the kitchen’s unique ability. Nothing far from the classic standard.“

“Great food place. We have been coming here for the last 5 years. Love the service. This time, we had to go. This time, we ordered pad Thai with shrimp, pad see you with pork, pumpkin curry with chicken and shrimp tum yum gum. Apologize for the spelling.Pad Thai is a little on the sweet side. My son loved it. Pad see you is pretty good, love that heat flavor and not too greasy. The soup was pretty good. However, this time they forgot tomatoes in the soup. Curry pumpkin is a must have dish. Overall, food still good either eat in or togo.“

“One of our favorite Thai restaurants! They have the best Tom Ka Gai soup. The Pad See Ew is super flavorful, we always get the vegetarian option. Yellow curry is great too. They have a nice rice plate lunch special too. Nice atmosphere, good service, and super clean and easy parking.“

“Not busy. Quick service. Simple menu. Chicken was good tasty and crispy. Sauces are flavorful. Rice was cooked well too.Their food certainly lived up to this restaurants name! (Would've been crazy if not). They have more than just simple chicken and rice on their menu actually so I kinda wanna come back more and try out everything. Yay seemed decently fairly priced too I think.“

“Just had the Kha Soi, Mushroom Salad and Coconut Balls. It's rare to find Northen Thai staples like Kha Soi in San Francisco, its flavor dense and complex. I believe it's their specialty. It paired well with the Mushroom Salad. The coconut balls were the perfect finish to our meal. We'll be back.“

“I’ve been back here many times. I try new dishes almost every time, and I’ve never been disappointed! The pork belly brussel sprouts and yellow curry are my favorite though. I also LOVE the coconut ice cream, but I love coconut. They have a great selection of drinks. We’ve also ordered to go many times and are always satisfied. I recommend ordering directly from the restaurant’s website if you can instead of through a third party app.Vegetarian options: My vegetarian friend seemed very happy about the options here!“

“I went here with my friend around Tuesday at noon and this place was packed! There was only one poor guy manning the entire front and he was definitely overwhelmed. This definitely echoed my experience when I went to White Elephant Thai restaurant (see my review and as this is a sister restaurant, I can't say that I'm surprised. I do feel bad for the servwe as he was waiting on tables, taking orders, and also preparing orders for delivery services too! When it comes to the food, it was definitely great that it was the sister restaurant of White Elephant because the quality, great portion sizes, and authentic flavor is all still there! We ordered the crab fried rice, pad see ew with beef, pad Thai with chicken, and another pad Thai with beef (we were planning dinner to go too hehe). The food came out pretty quick and had tons of flavor. Loved the quality and portions of the food here. As for ambiance, the restaurant is pretty small and has some cool murals on the two main walls. It was pretty packed and people were even waiting outside during this prime weekday lunchtime. As for parking, there is street parking so could be hit or miss! Overall, will definitely come back but would suggest more help for the staff in the front for better efficiency!“

“Khob khun ka ขอบคุณค่ะA local, family-ran Thai eatery boasting an authentic and all vegetarian vibrant, flavorsome and mouth-drooling menu at low-key fare off of chinatown. They have a plethora of tofu-based dishes and also do a bunch of their own special homemade veggie imitation proteins.I got the Pad Baby Corn Tofu and Pad Eggplant Tofu which were incredibly yummy, very well seasoned with a knockout flavor and plentiful portions and a nice texture.Support local businesses!“

“We stopped by on Sunday per the recommendation of a friend. The food is delicious and cheap! The staff are also nice and had a huge variety of food available in addition to the menu. I had the beef noodle soup and it was refreshing with the stock! It was definitely enough for one person and the Pandanus dessert afterward just made the meal perfect. My friend's pork noodle soup and Thai tea was excellent as well. We will definitely come again.“
