Take a look at our favorite Huntington Beach Mexican restaurants.
“Amazing service! The staff was very friendly, and considering we were coming in on a busy day, they provided us our food in a good amount of time. As others have recommended, anything with their carne asada is delicious, the meat melts in your mouth with a burst of flavor. The hard shell tacos with beef and the taquitos de papa y de res were also spectacular!“
“I’ve been meaning to try this place for a long time. Finally made it in. The food was very very good. The vibe was fun and lively with the DJ playing Tech house music. Music was at a good volume and could still have a conversation. Service was also very good. DJ was playing Tech music definitely going to be coming back.“
“Really good spot for fish tacos! I would recommend the grilled fish taco. I appreciate that they use high quality fish. The carne asada and pulled pork tacos were average. A bit pricey for a taco shop but good if you are craving fish tacos. They also had Coca Cola in a glass bottle which is also a treat.“
“As far as Orange County goes Morena's has been the greatest & well tasting goes, sorry first goes to me ?Was looking for a breakfast spot after some errands, passed by what we thought was the old Sunny's joint, saw the crowded dining area & decided to bust a youie & went in. Staff is on top of their game ?????? Can not wait to try more on their menu ? ?“
“We came here on a Tuesday afternoon at lunchtime. There is a taco special that is competitive for the level of service, quality, and ambiance. The staff is friendly. The restaurant is clean. I would recommend this to a friend and I would come back. The portions are perfect. The chips and salsa/dips are really delicious.“
“The food was really good, we got the super burrito with Carne Asada & the nachos. It was amazing. The salsa was really authentic & spicy too. The vibe in the restaurant was really cool too, very authentic. This was also very affordable for the portion size (especially compared to other Mexican restaurants around the corner). The service was great too, very attentive.“
“Excellent all around. I have tried just about every taco on the menu and several other items as well. The carnitas and al pastor are my favorites in tacos. I tried the carnitas in a burrito once and it wasn't my favorite. I usually go with the Cali tacos as opposed to the traditional Mexican or the crunchy shell options although variety is good too. I wasn't crazy about the fish tacos, but the shrimp is good. The tamales were a touch expensive for what you get but they're tasty enough. The red sauce is spicier than the green but I think both are good. The red has a smoky flavor like it's chipotle dominant, the green seems more like a good tomatillo salsa with some citrus flavor.“
“Parking: I'm so happy my girlfriend showed me this great restaurant. I have never come across another sit-down Mexican restaurant that offered free bean dip with their chips and salsa! What a tasty and great start to the meal.Had the combination plate with the chile relleno and my girlfriend had the enchiladas verdes. Both dishes were excellent in taste and quantity of food. Did not need more than 1 item for the combo to get full. They also do not skimp put on the delicious queso.Overall food quality, nice atmospheric vibe. I just loved the decor and entire dining experience. Will definitely recommend this spot to friends. Worth the visit.“
“My new favorite street taco shop in Huntington Beach area. Tri-tip tacos and shrimp tacos are the bomb. The nachos are incredible. The steak quesadilla is big and so good. The atmosphere is very day of the dead-ish meats horror ghost/alien movie theme. The art work is this classic chalk drawings. Service is fast and very friendly. Plenty of parking but during busy times seating gets limited. If they had more tables outside, would be perfect.“
“We ordered takeout at the restaurant and it was ready within 10 minutes. We ordered the California burrito, Baja styles fish taco fried, and rolled chicken tacos with beans and rice. The beans and rice were decent and the portion of rolled tacos was generous with guac. I really enjoyed their red salsa too. I would definitely order the burrito and tacos again.“
“Will always recommend this place to anyone. Fast, amazing prices, and great food. The tacos always have delicious spices and loaded with onions, cilantro and salsa. Staff remembers their customers and are so nice and respectful. Do not leave your car in the street with blinkers on though. It's a neighborhood and I see people do this all the time there is plenty of parking please park your car instead of taking up half the road.“
“Ordered 6 tacos total around noon time.Waited about 5 minutes for the food come out.Host taking the order was very courteous and very informative of all salsa selections available in their format. They also ask if you'd like salt upon wrapping up the order which is pretty cost effective. The flavors of asada 4/5Al pastor 3/5 Quesabirria taco 3/5Cabeza 3/5 (bit greasy)Packaging 5/5Pricing is fair about 2.25 per TacoSpicy salsa is really hot! I'd recommend going 1 tier lower to truly appreciate the meats more. Will be back some time to try their other protein options.“
“I'm from Chicago, Illinois and my wife and I stopped here to grap a bite to eat.. let me tell you that the shrimp tacos are to die for!! The best I've ever had period!! We also had the nachos they were also great. I wish i would of have taken pictures before but I didn't expect the food here to be outstanding! Thank you Teresita!!“
“I went here with some coworkers last week. There were 8 of us in total and while this restaurant was on the smaller side in terms of seating the food was definitely worth it. We had several people in the group with dietary restrictions and all those restrictions were accounted and accommodated for. Everyone had a great time and the food was delicious. An emergency unfortunately happened and I had to eat my food several hours later but even then it was so delicious. Personally I think if take out food still tastes good after being reheated in a microwave then it’s a sign of a well prepared meal. I had a street carnitas taco, two hard shell beef tacos, and a chimichanga. Everything was so delicious and very affordable. My whole meal was under $25 and it was incredibly filling and satisfying. I’ve been to a lot of Mexican restaurants and had my fair share of the cuisine and this is definitely a place I would return to!Dietary restrictions: Some people were gluten and dairy free and were easily able to find things to eat.“
“We have been going to Roman's for years and keep coming back. Their service is exceptional. Everyone is kind and helpful. The food is delicious. From breakfast burritos, to tacos, to pancakes, you can't go wrong! I love their pozole too. I could also make a meal on just rice, beans, and chips. We usually order to go but there are a few tables to sit at if you prefer to dine in. Thanks Romans for being a consistent spot for our family!“
“Tried this place out this past weekend, and it was fantastic! Haven't had Mexican food this good since living in San Diego. When we went on a Saturday at lunch time, my wife and I thought it was closed, there was only one other couple there. We will definitely be back!“
“We took seats at the bar. This place has open door seating , balcony very nice. The salsa came immediately, The bartender is so friendly and has a great voice lol. I ordered the Fred's Margarita and asked for part club soda. The Margarita is strong. This will be a one and done for me. The staff is friendly and they laugh often. The bar atmosphere is good. Not too crowded on a Thur night. The salsa has a great salt/garlic flavor. No heat. It's tasty. While chips are light and salted well. The small crowd was fun. We had a great visit.“
“Very good food, a mix between Mexican and American... A very extensive menu. The service is very fast and the atmosphere is like home.... highly recommendedParking: ample parking... there is always space... clean... very well located...Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, there is wheelchair access in both the parking lot and the restaurant.“
“As locals, we love coming to Solita - especially for happy hour and Taco & Tequila Tuesday. Great deals and exceptional service. Our last visit, Eddie was our server and he was very helpful and friendly. We have great service, value and quality every visit and will continue to return“
“My boyfriend and I were in Huntington Beach for Labor Day weekend and before leaving we searched Apple Maps for a taco truck. This one was the first one that popped up & we went for it seeing that they had 4.5 stars on Yelp! Let me tell you, soooooo good! We happened to go on Taco Tuesday so they had a 5 for $5 special on the tacos! They're regularly $1.50 each which is still super cheap. They were amazing and will definitely be back when in the area! Service was great too!“
“Was very concerned because other Don Jose's became Rodrigo's (no bueno!)Was relieved to discover this is the Original location, and is not likely going anywhere soon ??Parking: If lot directly in front full, plenty adjacent parking in multi-business complex“
“Casa Jimenez Mexican Restaurant, located in Huntington Beach, delivers an authentic taste of Mexico with its vibrant ambiance and flavorful dishes, offering both classic favorites and innovative creations. This place has become my go-to Mexican food restaurant.“
“Great food, AMAZING price, friendly service, fantastic selection--everything you could want in a quick meal. Best of all it's not loaded down with a bunch of tenderizers and chemicals. I have a lot of food sensitivities so most restaurants are not an option for me, but this place serves food free of that crud. It's my new favorite!!“
“YOU MUST COME HERE!!!!! Man I love this place!!! Food is spot on!! Made with lots of love & such GREAT flavor!!! It's a one man show currently, so be patient!! It's worth it!!! My girlfriend lives in Florida & it's the first spot she wants to eat when she visits!!! Breakfast Burritos are out of this world!! Ragin' Cajun Shrimp is my favorite, but the Specials are always on point!!! The salsa & fruit salad are super flavorful.... And the sangria!!!My taste buds are always dancing with joy!!! If you haven't been, make it a point to come support this amazing small business!!! Support local, Support Small!!!“
“I like going here because it’s close to where I live and convenient! Their California Burritos are huge and have plenty of filling. I always get a side of sour cream to go along with it. Their chips and salsa are always a good side as well! The chips aren’t always the freshest but they’re not horrible either. I do prefer Chipotles chips more though. I usually get their horchata, there have been a few times it didn’t have much flavor so I’m not sure if their machine wasn’t mixing it thoroughly.Customer service is usually pretty good. It’s a hit or miss if I get someone who is friendly or someone who clearly doesn’t care much for their job.Chipotle is a better option in my opinion but Chronic Tacos isn’t bad for when I want something similar, but don’t want to make the drive!“
“I have an allergy and previously when dining at the same location under Puesto, the kitchen flagged which proteins I couldn't have due to marinades containing the allergen. So we flagged it again for the staff. The waitress was very attentive and kept us updated that they were checking with the chef who wasn't working that day. My friend and I had ordered guacamole and two rounds of chips so we hadn't noticed how long it had taken. So when we got our meal the manager came out to apologize for the delay and comp the meal. Great service and communication. I appreciated that they did take the time and due diligence to make sure I could get food that wouldn't require an epi pen.“
“Omg came here for the first time today and I was SO impressed!! The staff is so friendly and accommodating. I feel like I am annoying sometimes bc I'm very thirsty and need to ask for like 5 glasses of water throughout my meal. A server was always nearby and it was easy to get my needs met. The food was very good! Enchiladas were cheesy deliciousness and the chips were fresh and warm.“
“Had such a good time! The food was delicious, came in a timely fashion even in the middle of the lunch rush. They weren't sure they could accommodate one of my food requests, but they were able to, which was a nice surprise when the food came out!Kid-friendliness: A kids menu of smaller portions is available, as well as highchairs for babies.Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible, though there is an "accessible" table or two in the dining area. The cash register is in the back of the store, and while there's a ramp up to it, it's narrow, and stairs go back down.“
“Not only is their food incredible and service prompt and friendly, but these guys helped me jump start my car, even when I had given up! They just kept on trying. A heartfelt thank you to them, and highest recommendations from me! I've been frequenting Rodrigo's since before it was called Rodrigo's, and it remains a classic for myself and my family.“
“Love this place!I have been coming here for about 14 years. I love how I know what I am going to get when I go. They don't seem to change anything up in their ingredients, which I appreciate. For me is never been a miss, honestly. One time I got tacos to go when I got home they weren't as crunchy and fell apart but that's in me for not eating them there lolStaff is always friendly and nice.Clean small resteraunt.10/10 for always being so delicious whatever I get!“
“I was just there last night with a table of friends to watch the UFC297. We had a great time all around. It's a cute, not too big or too small place. I appreciate the windows that roll all the way up, allowing fresh air to come in. The bar is in the center and seating all around. TV's are all around so basically anywhere you sit, you have a view from all sides. Really good drinks and food. Our server was quick, attentive & really good at selling us all of her recommendations. My husband and I got one taco of each to share because we literally wanted to try them all, so we did! Yes! We did. We had a long drive homeBut it won't stop us from coming back to visit and try other things on their menu. 5 out 5, hands down.“
“The service was top-notch. We did not get the Menudo or pozole that this place is known for, but the crunchy tacos are also supposed to be good (which the other people in our party got and said were delicious) and I had the quesadilla. Would definitely come back to this hole-in-the-wall.“
“This place is a gem. Me and my coworker and I went in randomly the other day and were greeted by the most wonderful staff. We got some food which was so good I can't begin to tell you.I had two tacos rice and beans, and my buddy got a massive burrito. They have a full bar and heated patio. So glad I found this place.“
“Now THAT is what I call a breakfast burrito. I ordered the sausage and bacon burrito with medium salsa. At first I thought it was delicious because I was so hungry, but even as I was retiring near the end of the burrito, every bite was just perfect. The prices on the sign are slightly off, but this was still a HUGE burrito for $12. The tortilla is soft, eggs are fluffy, sausage is perfectly seasoned/juicy, salsa adds a nice dimension of freshness, and the cheese melts in your mouth. The burrito is also not overstuffed with potatoes, which is usually my biggest hesitance to ordering one. It’s inside of a liquor store but there were three tables outside where you can sit. I went around noon on a Saturday and there was no line. The two guys working were also super friendly and quick.“
“Went here for the 2nd time with my boyfriend, we went straight to the bar because we just wanted a couple drinks before we hit the beach. Tim was are bartender, he greeted us with smiles and the best service I've had in a long time. He's very much a people person (not in a pushy way) He said he has been working here since opening, that takes a toll.. might make one "over it" but Tim.. Tim is not! He enjoys what he does and it shows in his customer service and personality! I'll definitely keep coming back in hopes I get him again as a bartender. Before I stop let me just say everyone today was super friendly as well. If you ever have a bad experience I'm gunna assume they hired someone new. Lol anyways yea thanks for the great experience tim!“
“My secret lunch spot! Love it so much! Best street Tacos in HB! And you have to Try the pineapple empanadas and the guava turnovers too! A great family run business with fast friendly service. Come and support your local community! Bring CA$H ($1.50 tacos) or they have Zelle for payment.“
“Las Barcas is a great local destination with amazing food and great service. They do accommodate inside and outside seating and has a cool ambiance so if your eating with your entire family or just the two of you, it's just a cool spot in the area. Personal favorite is the Tacos and of course their Famous Fajita Burrito. Yes they also have nice cold beers to go with your meal. Enjoy!“
“Had the most delicious breakfast. the food was fresh, tasty, nice size portions. Can't wait to go back and try other items! Everyone says their Birria is the best. Ordering one of those items next time for sure. Owners super sweet... I love small family businesses.“
“Our 2 experiences here have been well worth it. From the margaritas to the appetizers to the dishes, it's all good. But what makes it so good is the service. Undeniably great customer service. The atmosphere is fun and family. Birthdays are celebrated nicely and we felt very comfortable.“
“I order the #2 with a crispy fish taco( citrus slaw)and chicken enchilada (red) with black beans and rice, and it's always a satisfying meal. I don't eat out often, but most of the time, I end up here because I know the food will be good and not too expensive.“
“La Capilla is a local favorite that has service and ambiance that is a throw back to an earlier era, where all the good nostalgic memories of going to the fancy Mexican restaurant, are rekindled. The food selections run the gamet of Mexican cuisine choices - and the bar serves great choices often Margaritas, mixed drinks, and the beer selections are plentiful. It is a great choice amongst a rich number of choices of Mexican food in the downtown Huntington Beach area.“
“I put in it to go order in the process of buying a car, and I got held up for over an hour so when I came in, they immediately offered to remake me my order, even though I was completely in the wrong. So grateful for their customer service!“
“My recent visit to the Mexican restaurant was a pleasant one. The atmosphere was lively, and the service was attentive. The menu had a good variety of Mexican dishes, and I particularly enjoyed the burrito, which was flavorful and filling. I'm giving it 4 stars because, while it was a great meal, there's always room for a little more improvement. I'd definitely return for another burrito and the overall enjoyable experience.“
“Excellent customer service by Robert. Today we went in and he was the only person on the floor and he was efficient in bartending everyone's drinks, taking everyone's orders and bussed the tables as needed. all on his own with great service and an awesome attitude. thanks for your great service today Robert!“
“Really yummy food! I've lived close by to this restaurant for a few years and finally got around to trying it with my family, and we all loved it! We went for a late dinner so they were going to be closing soon, but the staff was very friendly and patient while we took a minute to decide what to order. The food was cooked to order and super fresh, plus you get good portions for the price. If you're looking for some no frills, good quality Mexican food, this is the place!“
“One of the best breakfast burrito spots in the area, Portions are good & have authentic flavor. I recommend their carne asada breakfast burrito! The workers their are all very friendly & welcoming! Definitely recommend giving this spot a try!“
“We didn't indulge in the food, but the bottomless mimosas were a hit. Dogs are welcome as long as they're well mannered and on leash, the atmosphere is very relaxed and down home comfortable. Hearing music we know is such a cool way to spend a day. Thank you.“
“Friend recommendation. This Mexican joint is in downtown HB by PCH and the beach. So parking is limited as there is also a market until 9Pm. Environment is nice but something seems familiar? That's right. This place is similar to Los Chollos of Anaheim and Fullerton. For taco Tuesday, you get 3 of the premium cuts for 11 bucks (if paying cash). Paying by cash gets you a discount. They do have fountain drinks so that's a plus and they have the usuals like Los Chollos including the veggie/sauce bar. Depending on when you come in determines how long you have to wait. Busiest time would equal at least 40+ minute wait. Got arrachera, cocina and pork belly. Choose the pork belly because you get a lot of meat and that's a plus. It's very crispy and delicious. Overall, this place is good. It's just finding parking is going to be the dead giveaway but I like it. Would go back if I'm in the area and craving good tacos.“
