Love this place! This is without question my gf and I's favorite shabu shabu spot in all of socal, and we've tried dozens from LA all the way down to SD. Good quality meats, amazing broths (spicy miso being our favorite), and a wonderful assortment of veggies and sides. We've been eagerly waiting for this spot to open up again. Hoping to see everything up and running again, Harry!

my FAVORITE place since 2003!!!! no matter where i go, i jus don't find anywhere else that i like better than this place. i guess also bc it feels like home and largely bc of the owner Harry! Harry supported our student association in college by being one of our sponsors too and his generosity meant a lot to us poor college students at the time. Harry is always so friendly and always recognizes me every time. now that i moved away from Irvine, I still try to go whenever possible and whenever I am in Irvine. I hope this place stays open for a looooong loooong time to come.

I have known Harry for 20 years now. As one of his first customers I have to say this was my all time favorite place to eat. I went over today for lunch and was shocked to see the building was fire damaged with a "condemned" notice on the door.I asked around and discovered a fire had taken place inside and from the looks of things, it was pretty bad. I write this in the hopes that it is repaired and reopened as nothing comes close to House of Shabu Shabu. I am going to have to make the trip no to the other location that his daughter and son in law run. Harry if you read this if I can help in any way please LMK. - Don

I always like this place a lot for its cheap price. The store recently caught fire so currently it is closed for repairs.

A tasteless bowl of warm water in which you have to cook your food yourself. About all the restaurant does is slice up the meat. Gruff, rude service, interminable wait times even after being seated, and elbow to elbow with strangers sneezing on your food. No thanks. Dining out should not include you cooking.

Typically has a long wait, but we came at 9pm on a Monday night, and we were seated right away! Last call is at 10pm. I can't believe I haven't tried this place earlier! Satisfies all my shabu and sushi cravings! They bring everything out so quickly! The servers are carrying 10+ plates at a time to serve everyone lol! The tteokbokki and gyozas are yummy as well!

Love that this is an AYCE hot pot and sushi place at a really good price. I got kimchi red broth and it was perfectly spicy and flavorful; even at the end it didn't get salty. My husband got the spicy garlic broth which was good but really salty at the end. They also have spicy drops for your sauce (and I think bowl too, because they won't add it to the broth) if you ask. For dessert, they offered 2 different kinds of chocolate ice cream (why not completely different flavor options but.... It is what it is). Overall, good service and large (free) parking area. I've come here several times already and will continue to do so!

Although this isn't the best shabu place in terms of quality, I'd never turn down an opportunity to come eat here. My love for shabu all started at this place five years ago. Ever since I tried sukiyaki, it's been my go-to broth and I get it here and at every other shabu place I eat at and if they don't have it then you won't see me there hahahaThank you house of shabu shabu irvine for the yummy meals and good memoriesI'll always be a fan!

Food - only tried their set A AYCE and it is definitely worth the price, i did wish it had some less fatty beef options, but cant really complain for the valueService - service is quite slow, even when the restaurant isnt packed, it takes a while for the food to come out, we had to wait white a while for our plates of meats and sides to get to our tableAmbience - has bar seating options and table options, not sure if they can accommodate very large parties, but it's probably possible by combining tables (if thats an option Food does make the wait time worth it.Definitely see myself being a regular here.

Have been coming here for almost a year, at least once a month or 2.I always love their beef belly! Really recommend it. Their main seating is like a bar setting, with only about 3-4 booths available. They have 3 tiers for their AYCE. It can be relatively decent price of low $20s to as high as 35$ -ish.Higher the tier, the more appetizers and sushi you can add.At the end, you get a free smol ice cream. I typically notice it is either green tea or vanilla flavor.Really recommend if you have a small party. Larger parties are welcomed, but expect to wait a while since seating is more catered to smaller parties.

Possibly the worst service and dining experience I've ever encountered. The manager had to come out multiple times to correct the servers, who are either entirely untrained or just give no F's. And most supposedly family friendly facilities might say something to people who are visibly drunk, over served, cursing at the top of their lungs. How many f bombs is a reasonable number to hear b when you have kids with you, or just want to eat a meal in peace?

Get here early because there will definitely be a wait because the place is small. But once you sit in that chair everything comes by so quick. Servers were attentive and quick to get you items from the AYCE menu. For the broth, spicy sukiyaki was really bomb but it was my first time of course. You have your choices of shabu items and some basic sushi rolls (ie crunchy roll, california roll, etc) .Be weary that if you will be charged if there's some food items that are left unfinished. The plus is that you also get a scoop of ice cream at the end.

Very good food and overall a fun experience. The only thing is they open at 5 so you will be waiting a loooooong time unless you come around 445 and get in when they open
