Looks like Coffee Cup is not coming back! Went by there today and saw a notification of new ownership. I'm amazed that the owner didn't announce anything. ?

Excellent food! Especially the french toast with berry sauce with side of eggs and bacon.

This is the best breakfast spot in La Jolla. We can’t wait for the renovations to be done.

Everything in my original review of 2010 is still valid, however, Coffee Cup has not been open for business since April 2023 or so. Apparently, they are doing a refresh (see attached photo from their Instagram page). That was three months ago! If you walk by, there is no evidence of any work going on which makes one wonder. Moreover, the website is now completely gone. However, if you phone, it picks up and you hear an outgoing message but no information at all. Peculiar. It would be nice if someone could update us. I miss this place a lot as the food is just do damn good here!update: 7/12/2023The website given here is coffeecuplj.com which goes nowhere. The website coffeecuplajolla.com, however, is live, though no SSL so gives an insecure warning.

Cute little place in La Jolla with amazing food and coffee. Their Soy Chorizo Scramble is simply DELICIOUS! You will find yourself coming back here once you've tasted how tasty the food is ?

While visiting the San Diego area, we chose to head to La Jolla for the morning and wanted to chose a place for breakfast. We randomly chose the Coffee Cup after checking Google Maps. When we arrived, on a Sunday morning, we did have to wait for....less than five minutes, for a seat. We ordered a Mexican mocha, blackberry pancakes and the Soy Chorizo scramble. After a reasonable wait, our food arrived and was well presented. The taste.... Fabulous! What a great breakfast. The soy chorizo was, in my opinion, perfectly seasoned. The pancakes were delicious. Great breakfast and mocha! Service was friendly and efficient. As a bonus, there is outdoor seating that is dog friendly.

My 6 yr old son loves this place so much that he wanted me to write a review that this place is amazing. He says, "I totally love it and it's definitely on my list". He thinks it is absolutely the best loves the French toast, the Omar special and so much more than that. We will be back for sure!

Great food! They always have interesting specials, and the food always comes out hot. The coffee drinks are excellent as well.

This place was awesome! Service was tip top; host got us seated right away and introduced our server by name. Got our drinks out right away, let us know what the off menu options were, gave us spot on recommendations when we asked, and food came out quickly. The food was also amazing; the Omar special, juevos rancheros and French toast were all wonderful. Thanks guys!

The food was okay but i ordered and Mexican hot chocolate and asked about it multiple times. Never did get it ?‍♀️ gave up and went around the corner to a coffee shop instead.

I haven't been here since before Covid but prior to Covid I have been coming for years. I believe it changed hands since it used to be called Mission Coffee Cup Cafe. Maybe someone can enlighten me about this? When it was Mission Coffee Cup it was fabulous! 5 stars! Not so much now. Seems like mainly Mexican cuisine now. Before, more gormet. Seasonal pancakes and French toasts, as well as healthy choices such as Jalapeño egg white scramble. Like stated in another review, the flavors were a little bland and basic. A big complaint...if you're named Coffee Cup Cafe, I would expect good coffee. My Double Cappuccino and my friend's mocha were both Luke warm-yuck! Maybe it was taken over but definitely not the same quality as before.

Ughh, just had a real bad breakup. This place has awesome food; love their artichoke omelette, however they've reach an all time level on ignorance. Sorry guys but you need to cater to everyone; even us military vets with babies and baby strollers. Next time handle it with more sincerity(hint of sarcasm). Great food, bad service for this guy and his little princess.
