“So glad that I finally made it to this bar after living in the neighborhood for so long. I'm also very glad that I came in with a regular who knew a person or two as this has a very "locals" feel to it. First thought that ran through my head was that it was much bigger than I had expected it to be. I didn't even make it to the other side of the bar, which is also sizeable. Service was quick and there were a few folks playing pool on one of the two tables that I saw, (there may be more) and it had a nice outdoor space for patrons to go to for a quick smoke or two. Prices were average and the people were friendly, and for that, what more can you really ask for in a neighborhood bar?“
“Good drinking and good karoake crowd on Wednesdays from 8pm to closing. The bartender, Tyler is really funny and spreads good energy out to everyone. Has a "Cheers" vibe. If looking for a dive bar with good vibes in the area, this is the place. Especially on Wednesday “
“I was introduced to Regal by a friend because she was hung up on a guy who lived in the area so of course she found any excuse to appear in his neighborhood all prettied up on a Friday night. What better way to coax me into co-lurking someone? Oh I don't know, cheap alcohol? Well fortunately nobody endured the awkwardness of running into the man in question but I'll say that Regal may be La Mesa's one little gem worth visiting. I don't know if it's because I'm in my 30's but I prefer Regal over Coin Haus and The Hills. Why? Let me break it down: - Full service bar vs. beer only - No line out the door vs. line out the door - Mature locals vs. barely 21 IG content creators - Bar on the main strip near cute shops vs. the isolated bar up the hill So if you want the IG story tag with the novelty bells and whistles, the lukewarm beer, and the sub-par food, you go to Coin Haus. If you want something isolated and away from the main strip where you need to line up outside with all the Riff Raffs and Eminems, you go to The Hills Pub. I've done both a handful of times but I prefer the affordable and clean Regal bar where I can choose my usual poison then disappear into the patio. What else can I say? It's a local bar and it's not a bad one.“
“The big rolled tacos (with potato) come fully loaded and are a great healthy, hearty meal. Staff were awesome, outdoor seating was perfect for an early evening dinner.Kid-friendliness: Kid’s menu has the standard fare- quesadillas and chicken nuggets with fries.“
“still here at the moment. this place is a cozy, hole in the wall establishment. the smash burger they have here is intoxicating all on it's own, it literally melts in your mouth. I added some fries on the side and my drink of choice was the natural red wine. I paired these fantastic options with the outdoor seating that is located in the back. I chose this place because it's within walking distance of where I live. I'm glad it's nearby, because I'll be coming back again. It's my first time here by the way. 5 out of 5 ! Also, let me add that the music playlist they have in rotation is curated perfectly well. Good vibes to say the least.“
“Ordered the Ortega Chili burger with steak fries to go. It is a solid burger, tasty, and they wrapped the lettuce, onions, and tomato separately so it didn’t get mushy during the ride home. Loved it!The steak fries were not so tasty. Maybe old oil or whatever, but I think I will try their onion rings next because those steak fries missed the target.“
“This is the favorite sports bar spot in town for my husband and I! Not only do they have fantastic seating options but the food is insane (in the best way)! I could rave about their fries forever - and I probably will. Especially the animal fries. Service has always been efficient and friendly!“
“Serious locals bar. Great service. Unusually well manicured tap beer selection - nice work. I had a perfectly poured Guinness followed by an HB helles - both in the correct glasses. How often do you get that? Great whiskey selection, if you are so inclined. I was here on a Monday night. There’s a lot of not so ideal bars in this area. This place is an outlier. A true haven of a spot. Look forward to coming back and trying the food.“
“If you want a divey bar/pub, this is definitely guys up front are very friendly and let us know what games were sprawled around their bar. Only and beer and wine here it seems, but had no problem with that. Ample seating, fun vibe overall. There was a distinct smell all around the bar I couldn’t locate where it was, though.“
“Excellent service and good food! Catalina was exceptional and took great care of us at the bar. She was super friendly and efficient taking and delivering our order. It is rare these days to find good service and she really surprised us! The pork tacos and chicken sandwich were tasty and fresh!“
“Hi Star! I'm Bob Kelly, Back in 1988-91, I worked there as a doorman. I knew your Dad, Lloyd Thompson. Great guy, a legend in downtown San Diego. Big, "John Wayne type" guy! Good businessman. He kept the beer & booze prices low & he reminded folks, "This ain't no Fightin bar!" He was full of stories of the past & loved to meet new, younger customers. I miss him!I came back in 2018...saw VietnameseLonnie at the small bar on left side...Glad your still in business...TheOrient bar is closed on F Street.I'll try & drop in soon, I live in Las Vegas & Philippines now. I'm retired (72) yrs old. Healthy & still sitting high in the saddle! Take care & don't ever forget your Dad. He was a Winner! ??“
“This review is from 2018..I am just beginning my thru hike of the Pacific Crest Trail and this was the ultimate best send off! Excellent food and atmosphere...and then there was Jair! I was a single person..dining in boots with a backpack...not big bucks. I received the utmost respect and prime service from Jain. Truly this man is an asset to this establishment!“
“Omg! This place is amazing!!!!!! Games fantastic food bartender also amazing. Food portions amazing my eye poped out of me head when I saw my plate. Little over 30 buck for a shot beer and sandwich. Deff going to return.Parking: Thank you! Made my day amazing. Came at 11 am. Lunch wow. Great tba“
“Great food served up by Chef Rose and Chef Kevin! Be sure to try the mango wings and shrimp skillet to start your meal. I haven't been disappointed by anything on the menu. It does get a little loud for happy hour and turns into a nightclub on the weekends.“
“Burgers and Sunday Brunch are absolutely what you should go here for! Longhorn is a great local restaurant. The small kitchen turns out some of the most amazing quality bar food. They have a fantastic rotating craft beer selection. Sit at the bar and make friends with Matty - he's the best!“
“Tracy is absolutely the BestJuan is awesome at cookingToday, whoever cooked the corn beef, it was the Best cut of meat, and cooked to yummy. I Loce this place, just be you, come and enjoy neighbors. But, for me Tracy is why I come back.lol“
“The restaurant is nice and the staff is friendly, helpful and attentive. There are a lot of menu choices. The BBQ chicken pizza was very tasty but I didn't care for the turkey club. Additionally, we got seated next to the bar and it was noisy. I will still return to try other items.“
“I like that they have food options. Can’t bring your own food since they have a kitchen… At least the food is good and staff are nice/chill. Good vibes. Call ahead if you’re trying to play during the week because of league. Utilize the online system to reserve a table on Friday’s/Saturday’s or else you might be waiting a while in the evening for a table. Tables are taken care of and it’s clean. All in all, good place. Would recommend coming here.“
“We always receive great service and excellent food from The Junction! One of our many favorites are the Diablo and the French Dip. Great place to meet up with friends and familyParking: A few businesses in the complex but there has always been parking available“
“I wasn't from the area and was prior researching good spots to ear. I wanted something just enough to last me 9 hours to hangout in Chula Vista and prep for Jiu-Jitsu/gym. The 5 Stars is on the food itself. Wish the water cup was bigger but oh well. Imma make this my Friday routine.“
“I have re-discovered Pal Joey's in the neighborhood I grew up in. You'd think there'd be a line down the street and a cover for the fun I had. It is in a local sweet spot of Grantville on Waring Rd and is still what a good bar once was in San Diego. The bartenders are spot on taking care of business while neighborhood friendly. Live band 90 Miles Per Hour was fantastic. Surprised to speak with a woman who rattled off the names of the other kids I grew up with here.“
“The staff is fantastic, the pool was free and the drinks are original and priced right!Parking: I was informed the tow truck doesn’t check the Arco parking lot abutting Gilly’s building until 7:pm. I’ve parked there often to do work and never any problems. Always blaze before 7pm!“
“Yep... I'm the Mom of Jayson! I took my son here after looking at reviews on Google, it looked very entertaining. And it was! You guys were so nice as the band invited Jayson on stage to sing happy birthday for his 21st birthday!! It was such a lovely gesture and greatly appreciated. Serious Guise sang awesome rock songs and people were super nice. We will be back!!“
“The alexadilla is a California burrito wrapped in a quesadilla and you can clearly tell it is a quesadilla which I loved. It wasn't overly loaded with just fries. There was a good mix of everything inside. The meat wasn't SUPER flavorful but overall the burrito was good. The red and green hot sauces were both very good and had nice flavor. The girl who took my order was so nice and personable and definitely wanted to make sure you got what you wanted. Inside was very clean and the had seating for to-go orders that wouldn't take up the seating for people trying to eat there. The music was a notch louder than I would prefer but not unbearable. I will definitely go back to try some of the other items on the menu.“
“I had a great experience at this joint. Sat at the bar and was helped by Brandy. She recommended the Philly cheesesteak and the truffle fries. The food was awesome and the service was fast and really nice. Nice jukebox and cool relaxing place to eat and drink. I will definitely be back and recommend to friends.“
“Had such a great time at Johnny WAHOO Golf bar. The simulator has far more than just golf. I am a terrible golfer ?️♀️ an i was just as terrible with the simulator. But i did have a great time throwing a baseball at the screen. We got lucky and got 2 hours on a Thursday without a reservation. The bartender was so kind and friendly. Great beer and alcohol selection. Between the drinks, the reasonable price, and the different sports and games on the simulator this was a great way to spend 2 hours in gaslamp.“
“Kid-friendliness: I go there to watch liverpool games with my kids. Staff are super friendly and professional. Make us feel right at home. They even remember what we normaly order. Fans are the regulars. Chanting and cheerings, hugs and hi fives. Love this place“
“If youre looking for your next favorite bar, please look no further. Cjs is one of my favorite places to be, with the best bartenders, cheapest drinks, and best vibes. Music, tvs, sports, trivia, etc. Love living in the neighborhood bc CJ's brings everyone together w its inclusiveness. Next to great restaurants and located in a beautiful part of town.“
“I wasn't aware they had food but the drinks were well made. The staff was super sweet and the music/ambience was fun. Everyone seemed to be in a great mood. No drama. Just relaxed vibe and good people. We will definitely be back to visit again soon.“
“Pretty cool place to play some pool. Tons of tables available. Also TVs everywhere so would imagine it's also a good spot for football games and sporting events. They make a mean Tony's pizza if you're hungry or you could stop at the Jack's in the parking lot for some food“
“We love this place. Food is great, reasonably priced, and the staff are always kind and easy to order with. We like it here so much we had them cater our kids birthday party and the rolled tacos were a hit. Our favorite dish is their big rolled tacos and their albóndigas!“
“This place is pretty reasonable. If you like pool, this is a good spot to find aolt of different ppl to play. Went for Monday karaoke. My only complaint is the music is just way too low. Feels like they are hiding them from the rest of the bar.“
“Love the relaxed vibe and themed decor at Islands- it is a family favorite! The cool breeze drinks are a must-have for our fam! There is also a bar area you can choose to sit at as well. Parking is ample.Kid-friendliness: Cute kid menus and crayons are provided as well.“
“Our bartender really wanted to find drinks we would enjoy. She made me a wonderful drink called the white girl which I am and it was delicious. This is the oldest bar in san diego. Check it out beautiful bar back and lots of memorabilia. Walk onto history and just soak up all those who came before you.“
“Great music good people. We visited N City Spirts Lounge for a birthday party who received VIP service. It was a fun evening. I would recommend going to this establishment if you are in the area and enjoy listening and dancing to R&B and Hip Hop. The DJ is phenomenal.“
“Our server, Stephanie, was amazing. The food was unbelievable, and we had an incredibly good time. I can't wait to go back and try another entrée. I had the salmon, and it was truly remarkable. The bone-in porterhouse looked equally amazing.“
“i come to this bar every day to play pool in a nice laid back environment. one bartender that really stands out to me is Jamie. she always goes above and beyond to make sure every guest in the bar has a great experience. by far my favorite bar in lemon grove. great bar, great owner and GREAT BARTENDERS.“
“I went to American Junkie last Saturday, as part of a Gaslamp Mardi Gras bar crawl ticket, the music was great and it had one of the best vibes in downtown for sure. Also the service was fast, I didn't have to wait in line at the bar to get my drinks.“
“Was looking for a local spot to go and this is definitely a good find. It's a Mexican bar at heart and there are tvs to watch sports... mainly soccer. The people there were very friendly and service was good. Honestly I saw the people eating tacos and they looked so good. So if you are looking for a Mexican sports bar, this is the spot to go.“
“2nd time at McGregors. Friday happy hour. Live music, plenty of room for people to seat, full bar, and good food. Can't ask for more. I had the $15 burger combo. Good burger, good onion rings. Potato skins were a hit by all Fish and chips were crisp and taste Fried zucchini was delicious Chicken enchiladas looked really good with a big portion Parking can be rough when it's busy and service can be slow with drinks if you want it served to the table. Best nights to go Tuesday. Taco specials Friday. Live music.“
“love the happy hour prices and offerings. the servers were nice. music can be a tad bit lower. did not like that the cigar room doors do not close well and we can smell the smoke. we got respiratory issues. pls seal the room. otherwise thank you for the happy hour and Western Wednesday deals.“
“Went there yesterday with my elderly parents when we attend ASA's Autism Acceptance night with The Padres. I had forgotten to bring my ID . my mom had to explain to the guy that I am a person with autism - he questioned if I was over 021 ( I am -obivously because I am 039 almost 040 -duh ) Then he asked if I would be drinking ( Yeah -but only diet coke - which I had with No ice ) Luckily he let us all in. saw the Women's college Basketball game on the television sets ( LSU Vs. IOWA ) "Go Iowa - had a woody Burger with French Fries - very yummy - kind of loud - lucky I had earplugs ( Which I also brought to the game -even though we didn't stay every long ) - anyways Now we know where good eating is for Padres Baseball.Parking: Get it early“
“Definitely not a place that gets going all night like a club would but a very cool and quaint spot to grab a drink with a group friends. Pool tables and a variety of drinks on tap. Bartenders are receptive as well. Juke Box is a plus to play music of one’s choice. It’s honestly kind of it’s own place in the middle of everything, but wouldn’t mind staying here for a night and drink the night away. The Elwood is nearby too.“
“It's a dive bar so it lacks ambiance as expected and the service is ok at best, but none of that really matters because what really makes this place spectacular are their crispy, juicy, flavorful buffalo wings. I don't know what they do to make them so delicious but if they told me their secret was rolling them on the ground in the back alley before dishing them out, I would still eat them. Wherever you're at in the county when you have a craving for wings, this place is worth the drive. Just don't eat them there. Order to-go and eat them in your car...unless you're in the mood to watch or be in a good old fashioned bar fight, then stick around.“
“Nice little spot to chill and relax at. It has a cool divey feel, fast kitchen and even faster bartenders. Joey, Lila (also bartends at Paradise Lounge), Cynthia and Darren are staples and very welcoming. I first moved to the area in 2020 and they have been open virtually every single day, rain or shine, holiday or not. This is like a living room/bar honestly lol - such a gem for the community and the awesome people of Tierrasanta!“
“Came here on a Sunday for a drink with my gf. Walked into a pool table league, but had so much fun! 6 pool tables and great music. The bartender D was SO friendly and nice! Not too rowdy but fun to sit and watch people play pool! Had a great time & again, D was amazing! Will be back“
“I’ve been coming to Tavern + Bowl for football, karaoke nights, and bowling festivities for years. I always have an amazing time! Keanu and Will behind the bar provide amazing service and delicious drinks. The food selection and overall atmosphere are ideal for a sports fan’s night out!“
“To close out our night we stopped here to grab a few. It was a bit chilly as the door are open and there are no heaters. Very nice vibe and I will have to come back another time to fully enjoy. We stuck with beer, but I would like to see what else the menu has.“
“I ended up here at the invite of a friend to enjoy the Wednesday night prime rib special. The prime rib was excellent, especially for the price. This is my first time at the Bullpen and I was amazed at how many customers were there to enjoy the special. The service was a little slow but given the amount of guests on hand the servers did a pretty good job about trying to keep up. The only downside is that this must be the largest sports bar in San Diego and as such he is really noisy. Don't come to the Bullpen if you expect to have a quiet conversation with your friends - at least on a Wednesday night.. Enjoy the prime rib“
“I really like this sandwich shop and love that I can get a small sandwich and soup and it'll can be stretched to two meals. The sandwiches are fresh, the breads, meats, and they are not shy with the veggies. They also have a great selection of soups that is hard to find these days. You can order ahead online or in-person- either works and the service is fast and friendly.“
