Restaurantji's North Hollywood guide: Where to find the ultimate Mexican flavors.
“Food was alright, i make better food at home) Got the OG burrito and wasnt impressed, the portions are average for the ridiculous prices being street vendor are crazy, the green sauce kinda made me go a star up. i love to be fair in my reviews and this is a bit over. Food price for a street vendor -1“
“Honestly probably the best mariscos I’ve had! I love the aguachile! The mariscos pieces are always plump and big, they really don’t skimp out on it. The owner is so friendly and willing to help you decide what to get based on what you like. The vibe is really chill with music always playing and tables to sit and eat at. Such a fun vibe. But the best thing about this place is probably the spicy red sauce. It goes good on everything! Seriously the star of the place, I crave it randomly all the time. Can’t recommend more!“
“Terrible service. The burrito was cold inside. The plates came out late and not like they usually are here. Usually, everyone gets their plate at the same time. Hot and plentiful. The server was busy and distracted and not helpful. Also, they charge a 3 percent fee for just using ur credit/debit card. And if you split the bill among cards each card is charged 3 percent. Still the place looks and feels amazing“
“Found this on a search, the food off the truck was off the chain. From tacos with guacamole plus everything else to vampiro the taste was delicious & authentic. As we drove up we witnessed customers eating on their vehicles, so when in Rome do as the Romans. I haven’t eaten on a car since my teenage years, and there I stood at 60 being the old wild one of the bunch. Excellent food, a must try for both residents & travelers!!!“
“I love how awesome the staff are here it's like speaking to an old friend. Please come in and give them a try! I already tried their sandwiches, which is really wholesome and hearty. Their pizzas are thin crust, but very delicious. I've had the young and the go green!“
“The place looks a little rough but the food hit the spot! I got the avocado bacon cheeseburger and loved it. My friend got the BBQ Bacon Burger, loved it, but would add cheese next time. The staff was super chill and friendly, service was speedy too.“
“Super friendly owner who takes pride in his home made food! We had excellent mulita al pastor, nopales & eggs, and mole chicken enchiladas! The chips are thick homemade and salsa is also home made - spicy but not too hot. No store bought chips and poured out container salsa - this is the real deal! Tortillas are hand made too. This is a Legit, quality Mexican food restaurant in a casual, clean welcoming environment in the middle of NoHo! Breakfast and lunch available…closes early so no late dinners. Owner said they also cater with reasonable prices. We’ll be back!!“
“Me and my girls went out for girls night and decided to come to kalaveras best decision we made! Vibes were immaculate and everyone was super nice. The drinks were super cute and were delicious the food was alright I give it a 7/10 but everything else was super good. They play all different type of music that’s what we loved about this place I really recommend coming here to celebrate anything !!“
“Great Staff, always willing to help and be patient with customers. The food is quality and the service is 10/10. They keep the parking area really clean and they have tables/chairs to sit down. If you are looking for birria de Chivo or Res you have found your new spot ! This is authentic Birrieria food truck that you don’t want to miss.“
“Can’t wait for this to Long beach Location to open !!! They had a location in North Hollywood as a Popup and their food is delicious. Serving the most Delicious delicious street corn in so many ways and flavors!!! And so much more.Vegetarian options: PlentyDietary restrictions: You can choose the ingredients you want!Parking: There is six parking spaces in the back of the restaurant, and plenty of street parkingKid-friendliness: Absolutely a Place kids would like to go to. Colorful, fun, and extremely family friendly.Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, there is wheelchair accessibility.“
“One of the best taco trucks I have visited. The food so very fresh and flavorful. The tortillas are definitely handmade. They certainly are not stingy with the meat and prices are fair. Ordered the chicken, Carne asada and carnitas tacos as well as a Carne asada mulita. The mulita huge! They have salsas outside as self serve. Will definitely come again.Parking: Truck is parked next to a small lot, so there is parking in the lot, as well as the street.“
“This place is highly delicious and quietly unassuming. It was recommended to me for months by some of my friends, but I dismissed them." Their Taco Tuesday deal is a steal!" They'd say. I'm not a big Taco fan. It wasn't until my roommate came home with their asada fries that I took notice. These weren't just some mushy fries with simple asada pieces smothering them; this was a blend of flavors and textures that enchanted my taste buds! The spicy aioli, cilantro, and feta cheese combo is exquisite! If you order on Uber Eats, there's a fantastic buy one get one free deal that absolutely can't be beaten. Luckily for me, they're right around the corner. It's a cute little spot with a cozy ambiance on the outside and more hustle and bustle inside. It's a step above your standard charburger/Mexican food spot. I've already recommended this place to my brother and boyfriend and they both love it! Give it a try if not for anything but those Asada Fries.“
“Location is in a small crowded center, the sign is very small and very easy to miss it. Neighborhood isn't the greatest, but I saw someone on a food blog say to tey El Tacote for the chillaqillas and that the Carne Asada was good. I ordered the nachos with carne asada. Nachos were good, I will try breakfast next time I come here.“
“If you want a quick, cheap, no grills and delicious, street style taco fix on this side of the border in NoHo, Sandy's is your place. Buche, cabeza, tripas, al pastor, you name it, they probably have it. I usually get those three and it sets me back $15 for 7 tacos. They are not that big so depending on your appetite, you might need more. I usually eat that in 2 servings. Oh btw, "cash" only!“
“I enjoy the steak sandwich. It's like a Latin Hoagie. Flavorful and the bread is lightly toasted so you get a slight crunch in every bite. If you're into hot subs, Philly cheesesteak type of sandwich. This sandwich doesn't disappoint.“
“Mucho Mas is a Mucho blast, this longstanding family owned restaurant is located on the outskirts of North Hollywood (like you literally cross the street and you're in Burbank)! Easy parking in their lot or own the street (all free ninety nine w/o restrictions, meters or vallet) Upon entering you may notice their large patio to the left of the door. You'll be greeted and seated promptly, give their menu + specials and left to your devices as they say, until it's time to order. Whether you're a large rambunctious party of 12 or a pair of two, you'll get the mucho experience. Our server was very attentive most of our meal. She was very kind and helpful. I went with the veggie fajitas burrito (dry rather than wet, sin queso)... My M.M. regular date went with sizzling shrimp fajitas, which came with sides of beans and rice, like my burrito... Plus we had complimentary chips & salsa and an order of chips and guac... Needless to say... It was a full table! The food was nice, portions big! Very much appreciated all the veggie options (mainly fajita based entrees or salads - vegetarian by default, vegan with simple no dairy mods). They have some fun drink options including margaritas, cerveza y una barra completa (a full bar). The layout is traces of abode meets modern Mexican cantina restaurant, with nods to latin cultura in their art, pictures (such a the late Chespirito) y many attentions to detail. M. Mas was very busy on a Friday Night, We saw some parties waiting for tables on our way out... Grateful we stopped in before 8PM when things super picked up! Open 11AM to 9PM, six days a week (cerrado el Martes).“
“A small very clean Mexican restaurant it reminded me of places from my childhood. Nice menu choices and a selection of beers. Food tasted like my Mother and grandmother's, 2 fresh Salsas were moderately hot. Can't wait to take my sister when she comes to town.“
“Food was SO good!*edit: I went here 5 years ago when I was visiting LA and I am still thinking about how good their food is!**edit two: I came back to LA and the food was just as good as I remembered! I ordered breakfast and I can't wait to come back again.“
“Was in the area to get my car serviced and had some time and a lot of hunger to kill. Walked to this Taco truck and ordered: - 2 tacos de tripa - 2 tacos de camarón - 2 tacos de pescado They were all perfectly delicious as well as well proportioned. The staff was friendly and attentive asking me about my choice of salsas instead of giving me way too much. The area was clean and uncluttered I felt safe waiting for my food despite not having my car to sit in. Will totally be looking out for them from now on.“
“I have being coming to this place for the last 20 years and I have never being disappointed The chilaquiles are the best in n the valley, the sauces they serve are unique, nowhere else can you have the same flavor. Seafood is on point every time, but the best are the soups, fish and shrimp soup, menudo, pozole are the best I had tried in my 34 years living in Southern California. Add, the excellent service you get al the time and you have a winner.“
“The birria is the best ive had period!!!I have tried many spots but this place beats em all! And its always boooom for me consistency is key and they always surpass my expectations. My monday hangover gets crushed with the consome and that fire hot sauce. Recomend it to everyone.“
“One of the San Fernando Valley hidden gem of an eatery.Parking: Parking is all the way in the back with reserved stalls.Small and narrow driveway. Don't blink or you'll miss it.Wheelchair accessibility: Place is on second floor. Elevators available.“
“Our son just moved to NoHo and wanted some Mexican food, and we wanted to go to a local store and not a national store and we found this on Yelp so decided to go as it was in walking distance. It's a small family owned place and we thought why not and we were happy coming here. We ordered three different meals including tacos and burritos. We needed to take a couple things off an order and no problem, easily done! It's not an expensive place, friendly service, you can see them making the food as you wait and they have $0.99 tacos on Thursdays. It was interesting seeing nothing but Spanish TV, but it's part of the ambiance and I know we will go back when with our son.“
“Must try if you are looking for delicious authentic birria. It's a cute-humble family owned establishment that serves very tasty dishes. My favorite was the consomé with tacos dorados. I do wish they had a spicier red sauce but overall was great. It hit the spot on a Sunday afternoon. I especially liked the fact I could dine-in instead of the typical food truck. I can't wait to come back and try more items. Thank you familia Castro.“
