We came here on a Saturday and this place was bustling. We honestly probably would have missed it if we didn't overhear someone walking near us across the street asking if they still had strawberry cheesecake. They had such a selection of items but because the products are inside the building on display while the clerks are outside on the sidewalk, it is a bit hard to see how their items look like and therefore a little bit difficult to choose from. The strawberry shortcake was delicious, even though it was super sweet. It was rich but had great flavors.

Stopped by on a rainy Saturday. Business was still serving and offering such a warm customer service! Very helpful, resourceful, and approachable. Ordered the chicken sammy and banana cream pie. BOTH made with such love and care! This is takeout only, but worth it! Price is a tad steep, but it could also be indicative of the area - also worth it!

Heard a lot about this place, not just from friends but my fellow coworkers as well. And they were spot on about this place! The line gets LONG! But the service is quick and amazing! Really fun and nice people working the front. The orders are taken outside, this isn't some bougee frilly place. The menu is written on color poster board, but don't get it twisted, it doesn't take away from this place at all. We ordered 3 chicken sandos, ginger molasses cookie, chocolate chip walnut cookie and the boss man(sweet fiend) order a whole banana cream pie. The chicken sandwich was delicious! The chicken was cooked perfectly, juicy, flavorful, crispy. Everything a chicken sandwich should be. The coleslaw added the right touch to it, I'm not a fan of sweet coleslaw so this tangy and spicy slaw added a nice flavor profile that complimented the chicken. One thing I can say is they are definitely generous with the slaw which in turn makes the sandwich a little sloppy. But it doesn't get the bun soggy so that's a plus. The chocolate chip walnut cookie was good, I guess pretty standard for a cookie. The banana crème pie though!!! I completely forgot to take a picture but man oh man! This thing was DELICIOUS!

Had one of these after a hike in the Oakland Hills, I was amazed, how delicious a fried chicken breast sandwich with taste even a couple hours after it was cooked, was still delicious, I want to go and have a nice hot one at the shop now.

I last ate here 15 years ago and had fond memories of their fried chicken sandwich being delicious. I just went back recently and was disappointed. The fried chicken was flavorless and the bread was cold. The slaw was good but didn’t make up for the others. Won’t be going back.

I am overjoyed to see that there are still a few places left that have managed to preserve their original taste and quality of ingredients amidst the chaos that Covid has brought with it. This place is definitely one of them. The classic flavor of the freshly prepared cole slaw complements the succulent chicken and crispy breading perfectly, making the dish a treat for your taste buds. As someone who is particular about the texture of my chicken, this place has certainly exceeded my expectations. The hot sauce, when paired with the coleslaw, provides a perfect balance of flavors without being too overpowering. The coleslaw, on the other hand, adds a delightful crunch to the dish. I am so grateful that the owners of this place have not made any unnecessary changes to their winning formula. The deliciousness of their food speaks for itself.

I been here several times for the chicken sandwich or salad when "I'm watching" it ? . The slaw served with chicken is unique. Not cream based but some type of vinegar dressing. The desert menu is growing. This is what's left of my banana cream pie. It was light and fresh. Nice thick crust like graham crackers really supports the banana and custard. Banana wasn't too thick and had a nice chocolate shaving on top. Line outside moves quick.

No frills. No signs. You wouldn't even know it's open for business. That said, this is a local gem. The chicken sandwich is one of the best I've ever had... it started a new addiction for me. The pies are also as popular. Service is always great. Bakesale Betty is an Oakland staple.

Came strictly for a chicken pot pie because I was craving one. When I say this was the best pot pie I’ve ever had! Omg it was delicious! It is very pricey but it honestly may be worth the price and the individual pies are tiny. Will be coming back again this

Review as of 2/23/24-Caramel Banana Bread Pudding: out of this world good. One of the best bread puddings I have had. Not too sweet. 8.5/10-Chocolate Chip Shortbread: not too sweet, a good sized cookie and a good shortbread crumble. 8/10- Butter Pecan Shortbread: buttery Goodness, a great cookie! Not sweet and a nice sized cookie. 9/10-Apple Pie: not to fond of apple pie to begin with but I didn’t use that as a guide. The pie is ok. Crust is good but filling is just ok. May be pairs better warm with some ice cream. 7/10Parking: Parking in this area is never easy but not impossibleKid-friendliness: Yes Cookies are very goodWheelchair accessibility: Accessible by all, pretty much an outdoor setup.

I've been coming here for years whenever I can. I go for the chicken salad and only had the sandwich once. There seems to be a bimodal distribution of reviews and I guess in the '5s' group. The coleslaw (described negatively by one as "bitter" while I'd call it "tangy") is the best I've had anywhere as is the strawberry shortcake (when it's in season). The latter wasn't in season today and I had the bread pudding /w caramel sauce .... Delicious. Nice crowd.

Went here for the first time today. Service was amazing , there was a line outside but it moved very fast and got my food hot within minutes. I got 1 chicken sandwich , 1 chocolate shortbread cookie , 1 ginger molasses cookie , and 2 cinnamon rolls. The chicken sandwich , absolutely delicious , perfectly fried chicken. Would be 5/5 if only there was a little less coleslaw. Which was flavored perfectly by the way. It was just a little too much put on the sandwich. Cinnamon rolls tasted like the dough was made fresh. Like idk how fresh you can get but FRESH. Cream cheese frosting was cheese creamy but not too overpowering. I wish there was a little bit more cinnamon but personal opinion because the flavors complimented perfectly. The cookies , the ginger molasses was soooo good. Melt in your mouth taste from the molasses and subtle ginger flavor that doesn't take over. The shortbread chocolate was okay , just not my personal favorite. Absolutely coming back and the chicken sandwich was cooked perfectly and the chicken was juicy white meat with amazing taste! Togo place vibe. I don't think there's a sit in.
