Instantly regretted ordering from this place when I opened up the takeout boxes because of the strong smell of something dirty like drain water. I’m guessing the food was stale. It cleared up a little after a couple of mins, and overall the food looked fine so we gave it a shot. The house curry was pretty average, nothing great to say about it but it was better of the two things we got. The pad ke mao was gross. I normally love prawns and was excited to try this dish, but I never want to eat this again. Smelled terrible and tasted stale.

Having tried many many thai restaurants in Berkeley and Oakland, Charm has become my go-to in the last year or so. The khao soi, duck noodle soup, and seafood pumpkin curry are a few of my favorites but everything I’ve tried here has been spot on. Service is excellent, food is delicious, and prices are good. There are also lots of vegetarian options that my girlfriend enjoys. If you are in the area, it is definitely worth stopping by.Vegetarian options: My vegetarian girlfriend loves the veggie menu here. They can also accommodate tofu substitutions for some dishes that aren’t labelled as vege.

A whole page of specials including lamb with saffron rice were excellent. Enjoyed my pad thai modified to be vegetarian. I would definitely ask for spicy options in the future.The inside was cute! Little arrangements on each table, sprawling marble counter tops. Decor along the walls was a chef’s kiss for this thai restaurant. When I called to place an order the lady rush me off the phone when I was not finish placing an order. This is my first time here , as I order Pad thai with shrimp and Tufu. Yet there was only 2 pcs of each . Never hard this kind of Pad Thai . Also the lady charged me for Rice $4 yet I was about to walk out the door I looked in the bag missing rice ... I understand things happen but too many issues the first and last time. NO THAnks I rather go to Thai Taste Kitchen

I feel so lucky that Charm is our neighborhood restaurant. Their food is outstanding, fresh and flavorful. They're always friendly and helpful when I come in, either to eat their or pick up an order. They are my go-to for Thai food every time.

They opened just before Covid so may not be as well known and they are excellent! They have two menus - one that is completely vegetarian, which I love - filled with lots of interesting combination of fresh ingredients and sauces. Everyone who works there is always super friendly, the place is beautifully decorated, with lots of natural light, fresh flowers on every table, and the place is very clean. They offer patio and indoor seating, too. Give them a try - you'll have a new favorite Thai restaurant, too!----------------------------Since that original posting, we'd mostly been ordering out from this restaurant. Until last night. While the food was still great (still delicious, beautifully presented, etc.), there was nothing "Charm"-ing about eating in because the place was very dirty. A huge turn-off! I worked in food service for 20+ years and know that if the front of the house is dirty, it's more than likely that the back of the house is, too. I wouldn't want to bring anyone to this restaurant (or return, myself) for this reason alone. The entry door and bathroom door were black from what looks like years of greasy hand prints (gross), the floors - white mini tiles that used to glow - are mostly dark grey/black, all the lighting fixtures (including those over the cook line) are covered with dusty grease. To top it off, I watched one of the staff behind the line (wearing a hair net but no gloves) eating out of a to-go box - a huge no-no in food service sanitary standards. PLEASE, Charm Thai Bistro, clean your space and your act. You've lost our business until you do.

We sort of picked Charm at random after deciding against a well known upscale place top of Piedmont ave. due to its extremely noisy patrons and strange bench seats, my 5'6 girlfriend's feet dangled a few inches off the ground...We absolutely loved Charm's seafood pumpkin curry, which was excellent, just the right amount of heat. The pad thai was delicious and their seafood was perfectly done, very tender. Nice service....Will definitely return....

Charm Thai Bistro is a relatively small restaurant that serves many of the dishes somewhat similar to what you can find in Street Food in Thailand. Everything we tried was delicious. The Crab Fried rice had a lot of actual crab meat and was really tasty. The Panang curry with beef and Prawn Mango salad were also very good. The parking lot outside has a sign that states that it is a “High Theft Lot” ! Be aware of that.

Tried this for the first time today, and it was great! The environment and the space was super cute and very clean! It gets a ton of natural light and the colors of the walls, decor, tables and chairs just made the place light up! The food was delicious! I got the pad Thai and it was SO good! The Thai ice tea was on point!! The service was on point! Great first time experience here! Definitely coming back!
