It lost much of its charm. It must be under new ownership or management. Portions are much smaller (industry wide somewhat) and the staff are not as warm. It was a family staple for us.
This staple of the Rockridge has been here through thick and thin. Along with Ben 'N Nick's and Becky's Chinese Restaurant, these shops have withstood the test of time. How? It starts with good food that everyone knows will not change from week to week, day to day. Lots of options for the brunch crowd. Want something hearty, order from a plethora of breakfast choices from Benedict's, omelettes, scrambles, French toasts, and pancakes. Breakfast was great, I got a Denver omelet, and my husband got a short stack of pancakes. We have eaten dinner at the location in Palo Alto, very good burgers. Very good food all around. My husband loves that we order and pay first, so we can leave when we want.
