i've been on the search for my favorite vietnamese restaurant in the bay area but haven't quite found it yet. mien tay's bun rieu is one of the best though and might be my go-to for whenever i'm craving vietnamese noodle soup that isn't pho (which is often). it's pretty authentic and flavorful, and definitely good comfort food on a gray/rainy day! they were also good about subbing out the pork blood for more tofu, just in case you're like me and not into pork blood. they deliver...read full review
Mm, the BBH at Mien Tay is now one of my go to's. From a previous review--I got my friend and her (Vietnamese) husband pho & bun bo hue from Mien Tay. Based on his comments that the BBH was legit, I've gotten the BBH from this place several times. Do yourself a favor and get it! The combo of the soup, the way the meat is cooked and the herbs that go with it have been spot on each time. Mien Tay has THE BEST Hu Tieu dry noodles and beef pho in Oakland! Growing up with really great pho that my mom made, it's hard for me to find spots that make pho broth as rich and spiced the way I enjoy. For the Beef Pho specifically, Mien Tay hits all the marks! Their Hu Tieu Dry Noodles are SO flavorful and honestly more delicious and flavorful compared to VH and Thanh Ky. Packed with tons of fried shallots!
