With advance notice, they seated a group of eleven in the back and we had a wonderful time.Parking: Go right at the next block for more street parking. Circle back 2 blocks for parking structures if you can't find an on street spot.
Food, service and ambiance absolutely lovely. Food is absolutely delicious. Everyone on staff are quite lovely and attending. The ambiance is warm. Pho 84 is one of my favorite restaurants in the Bay Area.

I cannot believe I have not gotten a chance to get to try this place before! I wish I knew about it a long time ago. I SERIOUSLY found my go to place for beef pho. I usually go for chicken pho but I had to try the beef. It was beyond over the top so tasty. The beef was so clean and lean and the broth was so fresh and light just the way I like it. I'm usually extremely picky when it comes to pho in general. I haven't found a good place out in East Bay or SF, you name it anywhere in the Bay Area like. I'm definitely going to be a a regular now. The service was very attentive and the people that worked there was so friendly!! I owe a big tip next time I come back, like I promise. I love how the place is cleaned inside, they even wrap their chopsticks so it keeps it sanitized. I absolutely love love that! Please don't ever shut down!! Or maybe just open another location somewhere??!! I can't wait to try other items or else I might just have to the same thing over and over. The aroma of the broth was so comforting, I love how they don't put MSG either because that stuff is so bad and it hurts my stomach. Makes me want a bowl of pho right now typing this!

I went to dinner with my family the other night at one of my father's favorite restaurants. Pho 84 is located in downtown Oakland, just off of busy Webster Street. "We've had the restaurant since 1984" Hai, the manager, told me. In the beginning, "it was a family restaurant, my aunt opened the restaurant, it was very small and on Alice Street." Alice Street is also in downtown Oakland, but not as busy an area as the current location. Pho 84 serves traditional Vietnamese food like pho, rice, and noodle dishes. For those who don't know pho, a traditional Vietnamese soup containing broth, noodles, meat, and vegetables, is actually pronounced "FA." When speaking with Hai, he shared that beef pho is their most popular dish. So, when selecting a name for the restaurant they picked Pho 84 since the beef pho is number 84 on their menu.Pho 84 is a smaller restaurant located next to a few other restaurants that have been in this area of downtown for a long time and some new restaurants that are probably liked by the younger people who have been moving into the brand new buildings in the area. The area used to be only offices and parking lots, but now there are luxury high rise buildings everywhere. While the neighborhood has changed, I don't think that the interior of Pho 84 has changed since they first moved to this location. It is a very simple restaurant filled with images of Vietnam on the walls and about 20 tables, along with a very active togo business.The night we had dinner, we ordered vegetarian spring rolls, vegetarian imperial rolls, my family all ordered pho and I ordered #33, the spicy curry xao lan with beef. This is my favorite dish they make. It is a creamy curry sauce with cellophane noodles and thin slices of beef. The vegetarian spring rolls have a rice paper wrapper and are filled with tofu, mint, lettuce, and noodles and are served with a peanut dipping sauce. My dad says "they are the most refreshing thing you can eat." The imperial rolls are deep fried and are similar to a Chinese spring roll. They are crunchy, greasy, served with a sweet and sour sauce, and delish. Oakland is full of Vietnamese restaurants. Pho 84 has been around for almost 40 years for a reason...great service, friendly faces, and amazing food. I highly recommend it.

Had dinner with friends on a Monday night and it was not busy at all.We ordered:Beef Carpaccio Salad 10/10I love the sweet citrusy flavor of this dish!Imperial Rolls + Chicken on Vermicelli Noodles 8/10Chicken wasn't dry at all. Imperial rolls were nice and crispy. Shrimp Spring Rolls 10/10Love that the rolls are split in half because I can't finish an entire oneThe staff were so nice! My friend tried practicing her Vietnamese and our server was kind enough to try and hold a conversation with her. The restaurant itself is super clean and modern. Will definitely be coming back for that beef carpaccio salad!!
