Have been patronizing this establishment for decades, and nothing's changed. If you want authentic HK/Macau baked goods at a very reasonable price, this is it; Sheng Kee ain't the place to go? (unless you're ok paying 2X$ for so-so product). There are a couple of similar bakeries in the neighborhood, and to be fair, they're just as good. BART is a good xportation for Oakland Chinatown. I had a delightful assortment of treats from Ruby King Bakery Café, including a dozen egg tarts, 6 curry beef puffs, and an 8-inch Mixed Fruit birthday cake, all totaling around $55.The standout feature of this bakery is undoubtedly their superbly crafted, flaky pastries. This is the place if you like eggtarts! This is comparison of Ruby’s eggtart & Napoleon. If you like more crust, then Ruby is the one to go to. The custard is not too sweet, soft and not too eggy as well.Plenty of seats available, coffee /tea is $2-3, with option to refill for $1.Friendly folks tooAnd I enjoyed the fact that Ruby serve warm egg tarts.Highly recommend
