“We had the Doro Tibs, Beg Alicha, Azifa, and Vegetarian sampler. The injera fermented bread was amazing!! The food was excellent, service was great, and the servers were very friendly and fast. Multiple spice levels are available (the normal options are not very spicy for those with lower tolerance). Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Highly recommend to anyone!“
“Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, though expect small portions. The service was exceptional too, but I especially wanted to write a review because the bathroom was so amazing! At the end of the night it was still sparkling clean, and it has a bidet (!), free sanitary products (!!), and a hilarious & adorable toilet paper dispenser that made me laugh out loud. If you're a foodie or you want a fun, quirky place to share a drink and snack with a friend, definitely add Snail Bar to your list.“
“I've been in DT Oakland for the past decade or so for a conference every year, and my friend recommended this spot. I'm glad to finally check this out. AMBIANCE: Parking: Street parking, usually metered parking. Seating: Great for groups. Room for about 70 people with good groups for 5 or more. Vibes: Welcome to Downtown Oakland. You're close to a lot of other good eatery spots, historical monuments, and other pleasant sightseeing places. The place itself is nothing too flashy. It's a grit and grind area, but they are unapologetically proud of their social recognitions. There's nice pop music in the background. Great place for a food adventure or family/groups. FOOD: Deluxe Combination Chow Mein (Recommend) This is a wonderful medley of beef, bok choy, bean sprouts, onions and chicken with their hand-cut signature noodles. The noodles were truly one of a kind, from their appearance to their soft/chewy texture and nutty flavor. The sauce was reasonably mixed around, which made it pretty savory. Be sure to ask for some hot sauce! CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great! Ordered for pick up and they were prepared! TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. Fantastic! Good food, reasonable prices, and a calming experience. Yes there are lot of food choices here but their noodles really do stand out. I appreciate the delicious food and their hard work. Wishing the best to Charles Hung, family, and team on their business! TIPS: * Too many choices! Bring a friend or two to mix and match * Top 25 noodle places in San Diego!“
“As an Indian who is often skeptical of the restaurants around the Bay, I was quite impressed by this.Good value for money, overall good flavor (not too whitewashed lol), great service, nice ambiance.Wish the best to this restaurant and hope they include more South Indian dishes in the future!“
“If you ready for a fingerlicious experience,You need to come here!!Parking: Is behind the building , a lots of spaces but a bit difficult to get inKid-friendliness: Outdoor and clean space so kids can be kidsWheelchair accessibility: Access big on the street side is plenty of room ?“
“Definitely has a low key, cousin's house type of vibe. All the staff were cool and friendly but running around. I was just out by myself and luckily got seated at the bar within about 10 minutes. It's restaurant week, so it could've gone either way and they were definitely busy!I got the $45 pre-fixed menu. Forgive the absence of pics, I forgot ?- Dominican Curry Rice Salad: idk what I was expecting, but this was essentially a cold rice dish with a lot of ingredients and a lot of flavor! 9/10- Gallina Guisada: Chef's Kiss ?!! The plantain, the beans, the curried chicken. 10/10- Tres Leches Cake: the cake was very thick, almost like a pudding. It was super tasty but not like the light and fluffy tres leches cake I'm used to 7/10I will be coming back with friends!“
“Very nice upscale place with a casual feel. The food was incredible and the service was nothing short of amazing. They have food and drinks for a range of taste pallets, so should be able to please everyone in the group. If I'm ever in town again I will definitely be returning.“
“I was looking for a new place to have a company dinner and phoned Marica to see if they could accommodate. Thomas answered the phone and made the reservation for 11 people seamlessly. When we arrived, they had set up a nice long table for all of us by the bar, which who doesn't like being close to the bar? Nina and Thomas were so kind and attentive and we got plenty of recommendations including some great bottles of wine. All our food and drink were delicious and they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and two of our employees feel special at their relocation party. Can't wait to eat here again. What a gem of a place, with kind people, great wine, and good food.“
“I ordered the salmon Hawaiian style and has been delicious each time. I over hear people say that they give good portions and the atmosphere is nice as it's on the dock in Jack London Sq. I also indulged in a mango margarita and it's tasty. Enjoy dining here!“
“My babies dad likes to take me here sometimes for something quick and good ,their fried fish ,shrimp ,and chicken is good very flavorful they’re greens are preening good too especially to be vegetarian they are very flavorful. I’ve had their bean pies and their sweet potato pies. Pretty good as well. Definitely will help you if you’re having a fried food craving.“
“Great quality food made with LOVE! Wonderful family business with great service to match. I really enjoyed the salmon sliders.. by far my favorite on the menu. The salmon nuggets are nice and juicy and comes with so much flavor. Definitely recommend trying this place.“
“A hidden gem. a must try restaurant. looks sketchy, but once you walk in you're literally dancing to your table with the amazing music playing. customer service makes you feel like family. as for the food there are no words I tried three different dishes they were all amazing! I will Definitely be going back.“
“It's easy to miss this place. But it is worth finding! The portions are large and the prices are super reasonable. It's a little hole in the wall, hidden gem type food. If you saw someone who wasn't a local here I'd be surprised. I had a torta carne asada, and hush puppies. There were so many I shared with a friend and still had left overs. They aren't going to hold your hand to order, and the space is relatively empty. You aren't meant to hang out.Wheelchair accessibility: A nice level entrance and open floor space.“
“Red snapper and party wings were seasoned well. Not salty. This place is well priced and stays busy. Order ahead. You can also order party wings in a box 40-50 wings which is great for a party for about $45. It is the go to in area. Must try.“
“The food is excellent in quality and preparation. They have some vegan options although not always clearly marked. I had the fried Chinese broccoli with garlic sauce and tofu. It was delicious and filling. Very affordable too. The owners are very friendly and the restaurant is super clean.Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options, some vegan options. Excellent food.“
“Great place to eat or have a drink ?Vegetarian options: There is fresh fruits & salads availableParking: There is limited free parking. Also there is free street parking & metered parking availableKid-friendliness: Yes, the restaurant is kid friendly with a TV to watch inside or out“
“If a McDonald's ad tasted as good as it looked, this place would be it.Got here early because a line tends to form. I ordered the OG with double meat and I was impressed. The smash meat and the soft potato bun were high quality. Each bite was so satisfying with the sauce, pickle, and bun. The fries were good too. Just salty enough.I liked the ambience and access to beer. Bring a light jacket for the evening since you'll be in between the tall buildings. I left at 5p so I don't know if they pull out heaters in the evening.First time here so 4 stars. I really wanted to try their fishwich but they didn't have any in stock the day I ate there.I'll come back for the fishwich.“
“I have been a customer at the Shiloh's cuisine for about 2 years now ever since they opened and I am absolutely in love with their food, you could say it's regular Mexican food but to me it's beyond that, they give the food a great taste which leaves you wanting more!! I am si glad we have real Mexican sabor here in downtown Oakland!! Yeehaw keep up the great work Shiloh's cuisine!!“
“Such a gem! The ordering system is streamlined, and the cashier was incredibly helpful, even describing the dishes to help me decide. The grilled cheese with shrimp and arugula was so flavorful, the cheese perfectly melted and the arugula added a fresh bite. They even recommended an IPA that went perfectly with the flavors. loved the private outdoor eating area; the weather was perfect for it. If you're looking for a delicious spot in Oakland, this is it!“
“Always tasty no matter what we pick from their endless menu. The service is friendly and quick. They only accept cash or Venmo which is fine. There's plenty of safe free parking and available seats. Also clean restrooms. We go there at least 2-3 times a month. Super ☝️✨“
“On my way up to Broadway Terrace to see the Kingfish about this and that and just had to stop at Crogan's and get a roast pork sandwich. Probably the best sandwiches in the East Bay.Normally I have it on a French baguette with melted Monterey Jack cheese, but today I wanted it on the lighter side, because I've got a big todo, to do for that old nasty witch, Hazel Willslurpit up on Hardshaft Ridge. She's asked me to pound in a fence post for her, so I'm taking Bucktooth Timmy with me to do the nasty work. He should have the job done in about 5 minutes. As I sat there waiting for Timmy to scream, all I could think about was how Amazing that Crogan's sandwich was it was Spectacular!5 Stars all day long. ☆☆☆☆☆“
“Just went to Genny's this past Father's Day for lunch with my family. She warmly welcomed us in. Since it was Father's Day, and maybe she took an extra liking to us , she gave us some rib bits on the house as an appetizer while we looked through the menu. Once I tasted those ribs I knew we were in the right place. Everything, yes everything we ordered was on point. It was all seasoned perfectly and so so delicious and savory. Genny's BBQ is definitely on our go to list now!“
“I got the 333 combo with three fried oysters, three fried shrimp, and three pieces of fried catfish. Everything was cooked PERFECTLY! Moist and tender meat with a crispy crust. Absolutely classic. The combo was a lot of food! It came with Louisiana style hot sauce, tartar sauce, and ketchup, as well as plenty of fries.Service was cheerful and very friendly. There isn't any seating, so it's really take-out only. The one minor criticism I have is that the fries were pretty mediocre, but they really aren't the main attraction here anyway.“
“We had the opportunity to visit Magnolia Street Lounge this weekend. We really just stumbled upon this place. We like the idea of having brunch before we headed to our events. We noticed they recommend reservations, unfortunately we did not make the reservation as we just learned of the place about an hour before they opened. The good news is the owner let us in as we arrived as soon as they opened, and it was just two of us. I do recommend reservations as this is a smaller place. We ordered the chicken and waffles and hot honey chicken sandwich. We also ordered some honey biscuits and received hushpuppies. Last but not least, we ordered a couple of strawberry lemonade mimosas. I enjoyed each item. The setting was quaint. I loved they had televisions so you could watch sports. I hear they have a DJ, I wish I could have experienced that. Parking can be tricky, so you need to arrive early and look carefully for parking.“
“Went up to Fruitvale station to drop off the chain drive for the Slingport Khyber Accelerator, Toby Twolips and his little stab Attababy were to meet me there for the exchange, and they'll be in charge of getting it to the Livermore Lab. I passed by the Guadalajara Restaurant and planned on getting tacos when I'm done, but where? Only been here 10 minutes and I've seen 3 car get windows smashed and robbed of things, the bandits gave me the eye twice but when I showed them I had big bang and little thumper with me they scooted right away. Toby was right on time and I headed straight to the El Tabasco Taqueria Restaurant for the best tacos in the east bay! ☆☆☆☆☆“
“We like this restaurant a lot. During spring, summer and fall you can sit outside, over the estuary. Their drink selection is excellent. My favorites are their steamed New England clams, clam chowder, pear-walnut- gorgonzola cheese salad, and fish and chips. During Covid quarantine in 2020 I got take-out for my 82nd birthday.Parking: Plenty of parking on the street.“
“This is for too good to go order. I arrived at the place, which is a pick up place for several kitchens, let the counter know you are picking up for too good to go, and the person hands you bag that is kept in a warmer. I got 2 regular sized burrito, one is steak and one is veg. The steak was very average flavor, hence the 4 star. It was beans, rice, and some steak in the burrito.“
“Came here this morning looking for two pieces of chicken. 5.99 with biscuits a d the small jambalaya rice. The manager hooked me up. Thank you for the amazing quick service. I love how fresh the chicken is. Super crunchy. I highly recommend this for a quick meal!! You wouldn't be disappointed“
“They have good lunch prices for the mini hot pots. The broth for the beef satay was delicious and there is a good amount of meat and vegetables. It comes with rice or noodles to make sure you are full. It takes some effort to wave down some help. The mini hot pots can fit into a lunch hour as long as you get your order in quickly.“
“To start off, I’ve never had Haitian food and didn’t know what to expect. After going to T’Chaka for lunch, I’m pleasantly surprised. Glad that I got a taste of Haiti. Food, service, ambiance, and decor is amazing.T’Chaka is located next to Swan’s Market in Old Oakland. Outside - there’s a colorful bright yellow sign with potted palm plants so place is hard to miss.Server was extremely friendly, helpful, and accommodating.Decor and ambiance - very colorful and vibrant. Haitian flag stood out to me. A lot going on with the paintings, fish tank, vases, wall fixtures, etc. Definitely feels like you’re walking into a local mom and pop restaurant that will serve authentic cuisine. A bit pricey - around $20 for each entree but the quality and time spent makes it worth.Unfortunately, I am pescatarian so I was unable to try the Oxtails, Jerk Chicken, or Griot. What a tragedy. But my co-worker said Oxtails were flavorful and delicious, went well with the fixings. She finished the whole plate and cleaned the bones off!Shrimp salad itself was flavorful - with passionfruit dressing. They also did not skimp on the shrimp - HUGE PLUS. As exotic as the dish sounds, the flavors went well together. Shrimp was well seasoned with a tangy, sweet, yet savory flavor. The passionfruit dressing itself was light, refreshing, and not overly sweet. Nice palette of flavors, definitely Caribbean-esque.Cocktails and dinner: I would especially recommend coming for their dinner menu or Saturday special and drinks. Cocktails looked very intriguing and would go well with menu offerings.I would definitely recommend this place. Haitian food is super underrated! Take advantage of going during Restaurant Week!“
