Ultimate Grounds Et Al Coffee is a coffee / deli shop in Oakland. They offer a wide variety of sandwiches and coffee drinks. I came on a very early Sunday morning to grab a simple breakfast. Indoor atmosphere was relaxing. Food was great as well as the coffee. Prices were reasonable. Staff were cordial and competent. Overall, it's a good coffee shop.

Absolutely love this shop! The kindest staff (who remembered my coffee order after just one time and proactively make it when they see me walk in so I dont have to wait after paying!) Plus great coffee and breakfast sandwiches. I'd go every day if I still lived closer!

Love this family-owned coffee-shop! Open space, different seating arrangements if I get bored in one position, there are regular table + chairs, including tall tables, and couches. Friendly customer service. There is no air-condition which I think is a plus because I usually get cold in other study cafes, they do have ceiling fans for airflow! Food is yummy, recommend the eggplant sandwich and thai iced tea!

I have been coming to Ultimate Grounds for well over two decades. I guess I'm one of the old timers! Obviously, if this were not a special place, I wouldn't have spent so much time patronizing this establishment.Yes, the coffee drinks and food is wonderful as already stated in so many reviews by others. What make this place so special for me are the people. Hort, Lisa, Seng, Ana and the entire crew. As the song says, "it's nice to go where everybody knows your name!" Also, it's a place where community is developed and friendships are formed. The Glenview neighborhood is fortunate to have Ultimate Grounds. Long may they stay!

FABULOUS sandwiches!!! We had the pastrami sandwiches and BLT Sandwiches and they were both FANTASTIC!!! Super friendly staff and very helpful. We sat in the back garden patio which was really lovely with many flowers blooming. GREAT place I highly recommend it.

So I came to have espresso coffee whether you call it a latte or cappuccino, whatever they have an 8 ounce cup, which is my preference two shots and some milk this way you’re not getting a 12 ounce cup & it’s mostly milk , so here’s what I didn’t like the 12 ounce cup. They put one shot of espresso so that means you’re getting 1 ounce of coffee any 10 to 11 ounces of milk, that’s not coffee pets milk he charge $3.50 for that which is cool. So I asked for the 8 ounce cup with two shots. He charge me $4.00, I asked, why would I pay 450 for an 8 ounce cup? He tells me, because in his 12 ounce company puts one shot of espresso, his 16 ounce he put two shots of espresso, so has an x barista before Starbucks was even a twinkle in whatever his name i, I did that job, the extra cost is usually because of the milk not the coffee but this dude here wants to charge me $1.50 for the extra shot of espresso but also you’re using only 5 ounces of milk opposed to a 12 ounce cup where you’re using almost 10 to 11 ounces of milk, I don’t care if it’s a neighborhood coffee shop, then a cat friendly he want to rush through your order not my place

Ultimate grounds is a institution. Their menu seems unchanging and gigantic, everything is yummy, and the cafe has such a sweet community vibe. The old owners were so kind and hardworking and Im glad to see their son continuing to work at the business.

Cute neighborhood coffee shop. I love their cafe au laits, coffee with steamed milk. If I am being indulgent, I will add a bears claw. They have abundant seating, a few outdoor seats in front on Park Boulevard and a cute little garden area in back which actually has an outlet. I can actually bring my dog here!

Love, love, love Ultimate Grounds! It's my neighborhood, family owned cafe, and a cozy spot for lunch in their lovely garden patio in the back. The staff are always sweetly courteous and friendly. The menu offers a variety of light breakfast and lunch options in addition to espresso drinks. Imo, they make the perfect BLT. Highly recommend it for a quick bite and coffee.

I really like this coffee shop. They have great pastries and the sandwiches are delicious. I had a Chai Latte each time I went. The cookies are delicious. My husband enjoyed his sandwich each time. It has a nice seating area. You can relax and look out the window. I really like that it's independently owned. The only thing I think they can improve on is that the tables and chairs were a little sticky. If they could keep it cleaner, I'd give it five stars.
