This is an iconic piece of peace and fun on the Harbor and beach front. It's hard to call it a "dive bar" because I've never seen one on the sand or by the water. It has that feel like Cheers though. The floors were redone during pandemic. The good old smells mentioned in older posts are gone I'm sorry to say. 2 pool tables. The Rudder Room is a priceless community watering hole with cheap drinks & a million dollar beach front view. If you have the chance to stop in you will meet the welcoming Oxnard locals & be sure to ask the bartenders about the rich history of the bar. Frank & Gavin are especially wonderful! 10/10 recommend.

I’m the traveler. This is the best place anyone should stop, if just for a drink friendly conversation. You can even walk out to the beach, and see the seals. Just a local bar with great friendly patrons, just open yourself up to them and they will open to you. Drinks are amazing and the best prices I’ve see anywhere in California. Thank you Rudder Room.
