“La Grande Orange remains at the top of the "relaxed" food chain. It's not a dress up fancy and go to dinner kind of place, but if you're looking for some good eating, you'll find it here. I eat a lot of chicken sandwiches and this one is right up there with the best! The brussel sprout salad garnered rave reviews too. Delicious I am told by my daughter. She suggested this restaurant just for the brussel sprout salad! The whiskey selection was pretty wide, but sadly my choice of Bookers seemed to finish off a bottle (according to the bartender) and my pour was pretty minimal. Other than that, everything was perfect ... oh, except no cookies . Those salty, chocolate chip cookies are amazing! But no cookies ...“

Fuji & Vi's Pizza Pizza • $$
950 East Colorado BlvdSuite 203, Pasadena

“This is one of my favorite pizza places now. The photo gallery in their website totally does the pizza justice. It is as good as it photographs! I never had Detroit-style pizza. I don't take part in the Great Pizza Debate with regional styles vying for Best Pizza Ever. Pizza is either good or it's average. The flavors and textures between cheese, crust and sauce are either balanced and each component delicious, or the magic just doesn't happen. Whenever I try thick, rectangular pizza slices I'm always disappointed in either sauce, cheese, or crust. I always hoped that pizza would taste like these slices. This pizza is the paradigm of what a thick square slice of pizza should be-- a sauce that is deliciously balanced between sweet, tangy, and savory-- the perfect intermediary between cheese and carbs. Speaking of carbs, a nice thick crust, just doughy enough to feel your teeth sink into, but with the edges perfectly carmelized to support the slice as it makes its way to your pizza pie-hole. The cheese was-- well, cheese, but cheese that goes all the way to the edge of the crust, caramelized to a deep golden brown against the pie pan. On this maiden visit, we tried both the Margherita and the Biggio. The Biggio is their version of a meat lover's pizza-- pepperoni, Italian sausage, ham, and bacon. The ham and bacon, however, lent a smoky flavor -- almost too barbecue-ish -- for a non-bbq pizza. I know this is Detroit pizza but it was almost a little too un-Italian to us. The Margherita pizza, on the other hand, was crave-worthy. The cheese, sauce, and crust converged into a balance of flavor -- sweet, savory, and tangy, as well as texture -- doughy, crispy, the cheesy stretchiness, the caramelized edges.... I thought this slice was pizza, pure and simple, delicious in its simplicity. Even the tomato slices seemed to be cut the right thickness. I got ours to-go and tried calling ahead-- several times. No go, so I had to order when I got there. The pizzaria (suite #203) lives on the second floor of a two story mini-mall, overlooking the street-side dining lanes on Colorado. The parking lot is also on the second floor which is convenient, the entrance of which is on Mentor, just south of Colorado. Our order took 20 minutes to prepare-- well worth the wait. We also ordered a Caesar salad. Their Caesar was a mix of iceberg and romaine and was fine. Just know that their Caesar salads are tossed-- a dealbreaker for some if you're not into lifeless salads. Just remember this if you're ordering to-go and have to drive a ways before digging in. There is no soda fountain in the restaurant. Beverages are canned. After trying their pizza I appreciate this. I also liked how their menu is simple-- there are just two salads offered and most importantly their pizza, but really, their pizza is all you'll really need. Detroit or otherwise, it's just really good pizza.“

“This restaurant is amazing! The food is cooked as if it came from a tiny restaurant with an Italian nonna in the kitchen. The ingredients are fresh and the meals generous in size. The pizzas are HUGE! The minestrone has big sized veggies whose freshness you can taste in every bite. Every dish can feed you at least once, and there are plenty of choices such as pasta carbonara, chicken piccata, sandwiches, empanadas, salads, etc. We have only used outdoor seating and it was pouring rain the last time we went. They had prepared for that with large canopies and even offered dessert on the house. Desserts are hard to choose as each delicacy is mouth-watering. Offerings include a variety of gelato, cheesecake, a pistachio-based pastry, tiramisu, chocolate cookies, and cherry tarts, to name a few. Parking is a little bit of a challenge if you arrive late. There is street parking and some paid parking. You may want to park on Colorado as parking is free after 6pm. If you are a MAD magazine fan, you'll get a kick out if visiting this hole-in-the-wall, awesome restaurant!Vegetarian options: Salads, soups, risotto or pasta dishes.“

“Tasty pie! I haven't had the pleasure of having a slice of NY pizza yet but if it's similar to what I had here I can't wait! We ordered a cold Rueben Sandwich and an 18" NY Classic Cheese pizza. My kids love pizza and they ate their slice as quickly as it cooled down (they don't like their food hot). Nice music playing in the background and Home Alone on the TV when we arrived. You can park in the structure across the street or down on the surface street meter parking. They have a handicap lift to get up and down if you need. The only reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars is no high chairs for kids nor do they have a changing table in the restroom for kids.“

Ladies and Gentlemen - A Cocktail Experience Cocktail Bar •

“This place is very cool. Aside from the somewhat kitschy "secret" entrance (which was probably much more "in" 10 year ago), they really do create a unique cocktail experience. From the creative menus, perfectly balanced drinks, glass where, and presentation--they really have it dialed in. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. And even the food menu, despite being somewhat limited, left us very happy. Definitely not a weekly hangout, but worth discovering for yourself.“

“Wow! Love the pizza here! As all ex New Yorkers, I too am guilty of considering myself an authority on what is good pizza, and this pizza is very good. Very good, in the thin crust NY way. These pies have what I would call, by California standards, an Exceptionally thin crust. Which we New Yorkers like. Pie Life's crusts deliver a great balance of crispness to chewiness. Strong enough to support any topping, yet soft enough to give a very satisfying chew. In addition to selling whole pies, Pie Life also sells pizza by the slice, featuring a differently topped slice of the day, each day. The day I was there the "PBJ" was featured that's Pepperoni, Bacon and Jalapeño. An excellent combination perfectly executed. I will be definitely be coming back for more. Note There is a small parking lot, which is nice. Also: there is very limited space for dining, just a few small tables that line the side of a narrow balcony. OK for one or two people who are just grabbing a slice. If you are planning on sharing a whole pie with a few people, you'll on want to take it home and "spread out" as a good friend of mine from New Orleans always says when we sit down to a meal together...“

It's not a huge place but they've got indoor and outdoor seating. The woman working at the bar was super friendly and gave good recommendations on their foods and drinks. Everything on their menu sounded tasty so I'd definitely be down to go back and try more! If you're looking for a good spot for Italian I'd recommend this place.“

“This is one of our usual Italian places for takeout since they no longer have dine in. We had a take out order for hot chicken parmesan sandwich, added the extra cheese and veggies like onions, mushrooms and green peppers, (but they forgot to add that in; hence the -1) like they have for their hoagies. And also ordered the side quart salad with extra dressing on the side. This place is always consistent with their flavors and always fresh. This was perfect for two people to share. And we added a can of Dr. Pepper. The staff are very friendly and helpful. If you like condiments, you have to ask for it. I always ask for red pepper flakes, plates, forks, and napkins. They pack it nicely in a box always. The wait time is usually about 15-20 mins depending on the amount of orders they get. Usually, by the time I place the order and drive out, it's ready for me. They have a small parking lot in the back and side street parking on Coolidge Ave off Washington Blvd. Enjoy!!“

The pizza I ordered, Zoe's Pepperoni, was a little burnt but by far the best tasting pizza I had ever eaten. One of our servers was super nice, and absolutely killing it at the job. “It was a blast! We got invited to a birthday party here, the place is not too huge but also not small. I think there were 40-50 people, they first served appetizers in each table with drinks. The food was great served buffet style and when everyone were done there were still a lot of food on the table. The sound system was provided by the host's family, they just brought a small strobe light, mic and because the place is not too big a small a loud speaker made it through. The only issue I had was the restroom - there is only 1 shared male/female restroom , no problem sharing with men but you will always see a line, so be prepared to hold it until it's all clear, lol!. Parking is free across the street.“

My chicken piccata was sautéed in lemon butter, wine and capers and was delicious. I substituted the spaghetti side for angel hair pasta. The veggies were a bit al dente but heated up nicely as leftovers. The portions were large so plenty leftover for another meal. Service was excellent. Very attentive and cordial. “When I came here I was about 10 minutes early and my order was still in the making. I went in and was greeted very friendly by the worker. I then asked the worker if he could pull the pizza out early because I don’t like burn on the crust and bottom of pizza, and he said he would be happy to do that. I then went outside and after a few minutes he came outside and asked me to take a look if the pizza was to my liking. He pulled out the pizza and it was perfectly cooked. No burnt bottom or edges, and the ingredients were fully cooked, the perfect pizza. I told him that looked amazing and I am happy with how it came out. He then packed the pizza and the cheesy bread sticks that I ordered with it, that were made perfectly as the pizza. When I got home to tasting the pizza and bread sticks, I was blown away from the fact that I could actually taste the difference in the ingredients, and that I tasted things like garlic, and other spices with it. Overall I was incredibly satisfied with the customer service, and the food. 100% worth your money. Will 100% come back!“

Convenient way to get both your pizza and wing fix. Could be a five star but the team just seems so apathetic and like they don't wanna be there. They work quick but take no time to engage with the guest.
