Food:Ikura and Uni paella - it was smaller than expected for the price, but still pretty good. The crispy rice texture paired really well with the dashi broth flavor and the Ikura was a nice contrast.Shiitake kaarage - we've been looking for a good non-chicken kaarage for a while now, and while this one gets close, it's still not comparable to the real thing. If it was advertised as just fried shiitake, it would have met expectations, but calling it kaarage leaves something to be desired.Oxtail ramen - a bit disappointing given the limited quantity, the broth was more clear/not as thick as regular tonkotsu or Shoyu ramen so that was odd, and the anchovy flavor was overpowering.Atmosphere: nice ambience, not very japanesey but clean and lively.Service: fine, server was friendly and attentive.

Quality of the food is pretty top notch, but pricing for the portion is also steep. The uni paella was really yummy- but even though they doubled the portion of uni for today's special, I still thought they could be more generous with the portion to bring out the uni flavor. Portion is just enough for 2.Tofu veggie bowl surprised me with it's delicious sauce, the fried tofu was also great.Shiitake karage and tonkotsu were good but nothing too special. The limited ox tail ramen was slightly disappointing, broth was on the thinner side and noodles could've been chewier.Overall good experience!

Prices are a bit high but everything was very high quality and tasty. We ordered the skewers under the chef special, chicken karage, a seasonal fried oyster dish, and the beef+uni paella. I would say the skewers were the least impressive but still worth trying once. The karage was a much larger portion than expected and had the right balance of juiciness and crunch. The oysters were probably my favourite, the flavours were just more elevated and impressive. The paella was really great as well but I think I would order the one without the uni next time since it didn’t wow me at the price. We ended the night with the black sesame ice cream with matcha mochi which was excellent!

We loved everything about Kemuri. Creative food and attentive servers. Uni & Ikuea chawanmushi pate was exceptional. Tonkatau was perfectly fried and full of flavor.

Delicious food; definitely on the bougie and pricey side with not necessarily large portions, but I think it was well worth it if you go in knowing what to expect.I think the highlight of the night has got to be the scallops with the uni sauce; which had such a strong uni flavour and very cool aromas from the actively smokey charcoals they serve the scallops over. Make sure not to lose a single ikura through the grates!Other high points i’d recommend include the salmon and ikura benedict and the matcha brulee! Cocktails were also great.
Impressive good Japanese food. I enjoyed my experience here tremendously, will be back!Second time and still very impressed - we got the today’s yaki, wagyu paella, seared mackerel, unagi sliders. Highly recommend!

Love the environment and the vibe - hard to describe what it is but it’s vivid, lively, chill, and comfortable.Food is great. Uni rice is a must try.Drinks are good.If I can have one complaint (more so of a recommendation ), I spent $70 here for a meal but I was still hungry after it… a slightly bigger portion would be fantastic! Doesn’t change my 5-star rating though.

Some of the signature food is good. Especially the signature edamame, Kemuri Udon, and the charcoal grills. It was kind of crowded, but they still have a table for walk-ins on Wed night.I still like to try and find what’s the best menu here.
My wife and I ate here, and the food - and the chardonnay - were delicious. We shared a tempura appetizer, and we both had two different paellas. The panna cotta was unique- but very well made, and it was excellent!

Came on Sunday with family. The restaurant seems quiet and only 2 tables occupied. Waited to be seated for at least 5 min with no attention from the waiters and waitresses who are hanging out doing seemingly nothing important. We left. The place feels small and dingy. Unfriendly staff. Unlikely to return.

One of my favorite local Japanese restaurants. It's a bit pricey, but everything is done to a high level. Nice ambience and service. They have a wide array of dishes including yakitori, udon, tempura, Japanese paella, and many other original creations. I would highly recommend their beef tongue, wagyu garlic rice, and ox tail udon, among many other dishes.

Honestly, this place is so good and I do think the price is worth it since there's no other place like it (at least that I've been to and I generally am a pretty cheap person LOL) The food is so delicious and not too salty at all. The fish and chips are surprisingly huge even though we ordered the small and the fries were so good. I liked everything but would skip the bread with the salmon roe. My stand outs are the temperua veggies, so crisp and delicious and all the fish. I love the rice bowls since they were crispy from the clay pot. The creme Brulee was also divine with a strong matcha flavor. The service was very nice with our waitress checking in two/three times, making sure our water was filled, and for asking us if we've been there before. She also complimented my pants on the way out. I would definitely recommend this okay to try for special occasions but make sure to bring a large party as the restaurant recommends to do family style so that you can try more dishes! (Also this place is $30-50 per person but my family just ordered a lot)
