“Came here with my bf to eat before shopping at 99 Ranch. We ordered egg rolls for the appetizer. I got the rare steak & tripe beef soup w/ shrimp. BOMB!! My bf got pork rice plate which he also finished. I was so hungry I didn't get any pics :( Price is good and the food is really good too. I would recommend to try it. We'll be back.“
“Food is flavorful and best drinks I've had in a long-time. Going back soon.Parking: In close proximity to housing neighborhood and I'm there is another restaurant in the same lot. It can get very congested and hard to find a spot. Go early.“
“Fantastic and unexpected find! Hubby stopped to charge and we stumbled upon this established, but unassuming eatery that was simply fantastic! We had their house bone broth noodle soup and the pork belly - both of which wereIncredibly delicious. The 5-spice on the pork belly was terrific. Our server, Ryan, was knowledgable and proud of his family’s business, history and legacy…gave great recommendations. too! So delighted!“
“Pho is good quality, but expensive for what it was. It seems like a neighborhood place that was forced to up its prices but never did the same for the presentation or composition. Seems very legit, homey atmosphere, like in a past life I had come here every weekend with my family and bought the gacha toys from the dispensers.Parking: Around the north side, about 10 spots“
“Did't realize that this place was pretty much only takeout. There was one table inside, but it seemed that an employee was sitting there, althought unclear why when we would have welcomed the seat. Also, it was a bit odd that for spicy noodles (pho), it was $2 extra. Seems a bit steep. Prices are okay, but a bit on the higher side for amount of food you'll get. I do think it is good to support small businesses in Oakland and for that, I would come again. No photos yet, since it was takout and those don't look as nice to do photos of.“
“We came to Darren's based on other reviews. We were pleasantly surprised to find they were accurate - the waitstaff is very polite and the service was great. The food was very good, so much so we went for breakfast both days we were in San Francisco, and the server remembered us on the second day - and what we ordered. Highly recommend. Also, as a side note, on our first day we watched as they handed out breakfast sandwiches to the disabled unhoused persons near their restaurant. It was good to see they also have a heart.“
“I am not Vegan and these are so good!!! I picked these up for my boyfriend's family who are vegan. The apple fritter was definitely my favorite, but they are all yummy. The girl working was very patient and friendly when helping me choose which ones to get. She also threw in some extra donut holes! The cinnamon one everyone raves about was sold out when I went around 11am. I'll definitely be back to bring them to the next family gathering. 10/10!!“
“Loved this place. Went for lunch today and was busy but was seated within 5 minutes. The food was fantastic and it was super easy to order and it came quickly. Ordered the coconut curry and was very flavorful, wish it had had a little more coconut flavor but overall very good!“
“The vegetarian bahn mi sandwiches were quite good and very affordable — $8.95 as of writing this. We also got some smoothies were good. The curry tofu sandwich was our favorite of the vegetarian ones. The bbq pork was also goodOverall a very solid place to go and would go again if in the area“
“Definitely worth visiting. The food is not "exceptionally great" but it is cheap and such a classic and special Vietnamese "to go" spot that you'll be happy you went and glad to support such a local establishment.I ordered the fried rice (perfectly executed, clean, and delicious)The chicken leg (good but far from great in its lack of lemongrass flavor which would have been amazing)Chow fun (hard pass... Greasy and far inferior to the fluffy fried rice unless you really have a hankering for some noodles to go with your main)“
“Hands down the BEST of all Oakland Vietnamese has to offer! The fried chicken rolls are addictive, the veggies and chicken spring rolls fresh and flavorful. My favorites are their grilled pork Bahn Mi and grilled chicken Pho. Consistently delicious take out EVERYtime.“
“We have ordered takeout a few times, and find the food delicious and the prices good. And our dinner guests agree. The egg rolls are light and crispy, and packed carefully to stay that way. Everything was packed well in fact. I ordered the Korean style beef short ribs and was pleasantly surprised to see the portion was large. Enjoyed it. Shredded pork skin was part of the marinated charbroiled pork dish, interesting but a little bland compared to everything else. My husband enjoyed the baked egg cake that accompanied the pork and thought the pork's seasoning was delicious.“
“I was getting over a cold and needed some chicken soup. This hit the spot 10000%. Their ginger scallion sauce is amazing. I prefer to get the boneless chicken and the regular size is plenty for a typical appetite. Cash only! Street parking can be a little tricky at times, but I've always found a spot within 5-10 min.“
“Well-appointed venue with a family feel. We had the vermicelli, the papaya salad, beef pho, and the eggplant. I especially loved the pho. The servers were really attentive but I wasn't sure they understood that I can't eat soy sauce when I told them I have a wheat allergy and the eggplant seemed to have soy sauce. Maybe they used tamari but I wasn't sure so I stopped eating it.Would definitely be 5 stars if they would label their menu for the main allergens.“
“I have several favorites here but you have to do the mushu wraps as an app! The food is always great! The only downside is that the timing for food to be ready can vary wildly (10-20 mins from the expected time) each time I go to pick up. But the food is always fresh and warm.“
“Step right up, order and pay first, menu on the wall - fast service, delicious, fresh ingredients, Spring rolls and egg rolls done just right - the meat is marinated and sweetened and perfectly grilled, the pickled carrots, green onion, daikon are all still fresh and nicely rice vinegared. Great lunch place, we'll be back to try the Banh Mi next!“
“Low-key spot that seems to be a locals favorite. The pho wasn't overpriced like San Francisco. Ordered the basic pho dac biet (large). The broth was good, the meat was kinda dried, and the portion size was good. Wanted to order the iced coffee, but we saw they were premade in the fridge. Well it isn't the end of the world.. just something we would've wanted fresh.Think there's an extra fee for using a credit card. I didn't see that mentioned anywhere so hoping I didn't miss it.“
“Vien Huong is a well-known restaurant that I've been going to since I was a little kid. They're most known for their noodle soups, particularly the Chow Jew Noodle Soups which have a combo of chicken, pork, and shrimp products. Some people like to order with soup on the side and eat their noodles dry with their sauces.I also really like their Beef Stew Noodle Soup which is very flavorful and their beef and beef tendon is very tender.Last but not least are their fried fish cakes. This place is family-owned and cash only.“
“Staff was very friendly and attentive. The shrimp in my salad rolls were fresh and plentiful. Very tasty. My phó came nice and hot, and was huge. The broth was very flavorful. Menu prices were extremely fare. I would recommend Ly's to anyone looking for a nice Vietnamese meal.“
“Been coming here with my parents and now sharing it with my daughters. Food never disappoints and the service is always great. Can’t just recommend one dish cuz they have something for everyone dietary needs vegetarian seafood and all the other meats.“
“For the regular person, any pho might but do, but for the connoisseur this place is for you. What you will find here:Bone broth made from scratch, meticulous attention to detail and high quality ingredients. What you find at other people's spot: too much MSG which let you know that they rushed on their broth and did not take time to do it right.“
“You want hole in the wall with zero ambience but great food at excellent prices? This be your strip mall find. I can't say it's the best Banh mi ever. The bread is just not the perfect crunchy chewy and flavor needs just a bit more of a kick. But it's a hella good banh mi for the price and hits the spot. They don't take credit cards so be prepared with grubby cash. The other prepared items were yummier than the banh mi so I might just go for a salad or spring roll next time. Anyway, definitely worth it when you're hungry.“
“This restaurant is incredible. Everyone walks in like it's just a normal Thai restaurant... The food is superb and out of this world. The flavors in each of the dishes we tried were unique, layered and sophisticated.A true delight just like the staff and servers.Delicious cocktails and good wine as well.“
“This spot was a place I went to every morning with my dad when I was in elementary school and it was so nostalgic stepping back in here still seeing OG's hanging out there drinking Vietnamese coffee. Simon took this place and leveled up the food, which I had high expectations for. He is so hospitable and made great conversation with me. I'm inspired by his motivation and drive to constantly better himself and his business.I was finally in town and had time to stop by for the first time to buy banh mi for my mom. I got her the banh mi xiu mai and when she ate it, she told me it was good. MY MOM ALMOST NEVER LIKES ANYTHING!! I tried some and y'all!!! She was right! If you're reading this, TRY THE BANH MI XIU MAI TODAY! I can't wait to come back again soon! Good job Simon, I'm so proud of you!“
“Using the TooGoodToGo app i decided to give Bamboo Asia a try sometime late last year. Using this app is a cool way to try different restaurants in your area, but the catch is that the food is a surprise so what I got was unbeknownst to me until I arrived. The first time I came I got a curry of some sort. The second time I got a beef kind of dish. It was good and there was a large portion given both times. Anyway, there is a lot to choose from had I gone here any other time just to order. The interior is cute with plenty of seating. I imagine this being a popular spot amongst those working in the area.“
“Surprisingly good Pho! This is my go to spot for me and my friends/boyfriend/family if we want good pho and don't want to go far. Probably one of the better restaurants in Pinole in general.Their rice plates are okay but the Pho is much better and what we go for. I also like their fried shrimp rolls!“
“Food is delicious and prices are reasonable. But BE WARNED that the website for this restaurant is maintained by a third party (Simplemenu) that adds 15-20% to the price for each menu item for pickup and delivery orders. This upcharge is not separately identified or disclosed on the website. I pointed out this issue when picking up my online order. The cashier shrugged, was aware of the price difference, and explained that they don't run their own website. Try calling instead to get the actual menu price - although it's very hard to get anyone to answer the phone.“
“We came here for dinner and had a good experience. We ordered a Thai iced tea, special combo beef noodle soup, spicy beef noodle soup, and dry stir fried beef chow fun. Everything was delicious, and the service was quick and attentive. The prices are reasonable and the portions are large. Overall a good experience!“
“A pretty good place if you wanna get some blended kind of pho, and I say this because it's not the same type of pho from a straight-up Vietnamese establishment. The owners here are likely just good chefs, who makes Chinese versions of pho. So if you want the real deal pho, this may not be the place for you! Anyway, this place gets busy. Bonus if you can speak Cantonese here, 'cause you'll get your order in once you're seated. They'll bring you a tea pot with your tea of choice and then you chill. My friends and I each got the Bun Bo Hue, which was pretty good, just wasn't what I was expecting personally. I like the true Vietnamese style, but their version here will fill the tummy. They have different pho bowls and Chinese-style plates. So you have a good choice. The restaurant is directly in front of Portsmouth Park, so if you're walking around Grant or Kearny Avenues, you'll be close by. As this is Chinatown, good luck with parking, or just take the Muni and walk over here. It's pretty conveinent to get here that way.“
“I was feeling kind of sick and really craving some pho and this was the only place near campus, I’m so glad I went! The pho here is really delicious I came back the next day to get more. I’ve never been a big fan of pho but this was game changing. The workers entertained my different questions about the various dishes and checked in with me to make sure I like it. Highly recommend :)“
“The food is good, the service is friendly and efficient and the atmosphere is cozy. With advance notice, they seated a group of eleven in the back and we had a wonderful time.Parking: Go right at the next block for more street parking. Circle back 2 blocks for parking structures if you can't find an on street spot.“
“Finally I found a good authentic Vietnamese restaurant in Northern Bay area ( except San Jose). The food is so authentic and is not influenced by Chinese-Vietnamese style like other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. The restaurant was nice and clean. The only thing needs to be improved is the service. It was not busy on Wednesday night, but the server stayed at the counter most of the time and didn’t fill up our water unless we asked or tried to get his attention.“
“#1 Vietnamese restaurant in San Francisco. We ordered Bun Bo Hue and Bun Thit Nuong, which was delicious. We were so satisfied with the Bun Bo Hue, it is an authentic Vietnamese flavour. We tried so many Vietnamese restaurants in SFO but turned out so disappointed. However, Golden King is a lifesaver.“
“A great spot to get a quick bite to eat that is t too expensive as well. They have good portion sizes and the broth in the soups in not bad, a little oily but not bad at all. I like the option that they have egg noodles, and i would like a little more meat but that’s just preference. If you haven’t tried this place give it a go.Parking: Parking attached and street parking available in areaKid-friendliness: Kid friendlyWheelchair accessibility: Accessible and space to be comfortable“
“All time favorite pho place I come here so often whenever I get out of work or whenever I crave a nice bowl of pho. They have great customer service they are always super welcoming and nice each time I come here. I love their chicken wings !! 10/10 fav spot ever !! (Pho Tai is my fav) :)“
“my parents recently took me here to try out their pho and appetizers! highly recommend! their #5 was like vietnamese palabok (filipino shrimp dish) but with peanuts! super deliciousservice was nice and helpfulfor the area, the ambiance was nice with plentiful seating! i also liked their soup, it was a bowl filled with comforting hugs!“
“This our go-to spot for pho. My usual is number 26- the seafood pho with rice noodles. I haven't tried anything else from here. It's a busy place but it moves pretty quickly.Parking: The parking lot is small and shared with the Plaza it's located in. We normally find parking there or nearby on the street.Wheelchair accessibility: It's wheelchair accessible and spacious to accommodate.“
