“The food wasn't bad. It was quite delightful. But one thing that I would recommend to the restaurant is to put more condiments on the tables. Such as soy sauce and fish sauce. Some people like it saltier than others. It would have boosted my rating for the restaurant if it had those two condiments. But other than that. Food was good and fresh.“

“Came here on a week night and got the Pho Combo #1. The service was friendly and we didn't have to wait even though the place is on the smaller side. The soup was above average imo, satisfied the craving but isn't being added to my list all time favorite vietnamese restaurants. The place is very clean, staff were friendly, and prices seemed reasonable. I'd be interested in trying their banh mi's and rice plates next time!“

“Pretty solid place for your banh mi or pho fix. Been coming here for years and it's always consistent. Although there is a significant difference ordering pho to-go and at the restaurant, obviously taking it home won't be as fresh. Service is fine, you pay at the front counter when you're done with the meal or go straight to the counter when ordering togo. The vibes are super chill, for any occasion honestly. Will continually come here and recommend this place. My order:Chicken Pho - Super solid, the broth is super flavorful and smooth. It will totally cure any hangover or cold because it's so comforting. Beef or BBQ Pork Banh mi - Very affordable compared to most places nowadays. Their bread is more on the soft side, which is my favorite kind. The meat is always good especially with the pickled vegetables. Can't go wrong here. Thai Tea - Definitely better than what you get at a boba shop, but it's also not the best I've ever had.“

Little Vietnamese Bistro Vietnamese • $

“Don't let the name fool you, but this is a place you want to come to if you want good Viet-Asian comfort food; they take traditional Vietnamese favorites and put their own spin on things. We were fortunate to have the Chef walk by and glad we went with his recommendations.Their ultimate appetizer platter have something for everyone. With the traditional Vietnamese fried egg rolls, to their pork balls skewers poked in a cucumber and Asian style fried won ton pockets. To balance it out, there's vermicelli and other vegetables Another of our repeat favorite is their open flame cooked Quail with sweet onion garnish. Although it's to be have together the quail was tasty as is and didn't really need it. We also went with the Chef's recommendation of Eel, and this is one of the few places that cooks it just right (too long in the steamer and the meat is dry or too quick and the meat still sticks to the bone). Seasoning was done just right and added a savory taste that would've went well with some rice. For winter, we again went with the Chef's recommendation of pig stomach and chicken soup (Asian belief its good to drink this in the winter time to keep the body warm). Lot's of pig stomach and chicken (just needed a bowl of rice and this could've been a meal by itself) but the star was the soup, very hearty and tasty. The beef stew was on par, but their fried chicken and skin (with fish paste as the meat) was a masterful dish.Plenty of parking and although there's a parking lot in the back, it was easier to find street parking.“

“Excellent food and service at this Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant in the Sunset area. We shared a set menu of Roasted Dungeness Crab that came with a small but delicious Cabbage Chicken Salad (Goi Ga), Imperial Rolls (Cha Gio), and buttery Garlic Fried Noodles. The Fried Chicken Wings were crispy but on the sweet side. The food came out promptly and our waitress was friendly and checked on us frequently. Prices were on par with other similar SF establishments. Reservations are recommended, as the restaurant was full on a rainy weeknight when we were thefe. “Remember the grade school taunt, "If you love something, why don't you marry it?" I totally want to marry this sandwich. In fact, I want to commit polygamy. These sandwiches are THAT amazing. The pork belly sandwich has these crispy nubs of deep fried pork skin, thoughtfully diced so that your teeth don't struggle, scattered on top of the filling of the most tender slices of pork belly imaginable. And the Le Dip? Don't get me started. The sirloin is perfectly cooked and shaved so thin that you get the mille feuille effect (Have you ever had mille feuille tonkatsu? Yeah, it's like that). The horseradish sauce is bracing, not overwhelming. And the sandwich fillings are nestled in this special Vietnamese baguette which is unlike a French baguette. It has a glassine crust that shatters the moment your teeth make contact and gives way to a pillowy interior. Eating this sandwich is the type of experience that makes you melancholy the closer you are to the end because you don't want the experience to come to an end.“

The skin is flakey and filling is substantial. Get it. There's a reason why it's their first item on their menu. They converted me with their chicken pho(which I only got cuz it's simpler and easier on the stomach for my sick partner) and I usually get beef. Beef Sandwich
Baguette

“Super good: combo banh mi, shrimp rolls, smoothiesDo yourself and them a favor and order online well ahead of time for pickup because they don’t have a lot of staff working and have to hustle when they have multiple orders. The smoothies and shrimp salad rolls were fresh and delicious. Baguettes are really good, and easy to bite into, not as hard as some banh mi places. We liked the combo meats better than the lemongrass grilled pork, but both were made well.“

“Thanh Tam is one of my favorite spots in the city - a no frills place with simple decor, quick service, and great comfort food, nestled among much higher flying places on a bustling Valencia street. The lemongrass tofu is one of the best tofu dishes I’ve had, with a great tofu texture and highly flavorful lemongrass-based sauceThe hot and spicy vegan noodle soup is among the best vegetarian phos I’ve had, with tons of depth to the broth, a solid mix of veggies, two types of tofu (including the rare tofu skin preparation), and tons of noodles (I modify the noodles to egg noodles to get what I think a better, less slippery texture).Top everything off with Harry’s quick, attentive, and familiar service, and Thanh Tam will always be one of our favorite go-to spots“

“Excellent sandwiches on the westside of the city. It's not a restaurant, so plan to eat outside or away. The service is very polite and fast. But they get very busy so you either call in the order or wait.....Parking: Midweek, you're fine. On weekends, it can get busy.Kid-friendliness: There is a park adjacent to the shop.Wheelchair accessibility: No entry. Everything is done outside“

“Honestly not sure what happened to the pho options in SF but suddenly it's like they all disappeared or went significantly downhill. This got us searching for replacements for our usual Kevin's or BenTre. I've been here a few times and each time it's always quite empty inside, not sure why because I feel their BBH is to die for! My friend always gets the regular pho and he says it's definitely better than Kevin's. Last time we ate in, and this time we ordered to-go. The portion size is huge as usual and they are very generous with the sides as well. The BBH is filled with goodies like a huge rib, pork feet, pork blood, your usual hams, and many other things! When we ate in person, they offered us more sprouts, peppers, and lemons when they saw that we were low; I've never had a place offer me those without asking; most even charge extra! I've always seen the same two (owners?) working here and and they're both great, we leave satisfied every time. The price is a little higher than normal, and I'll admit if it weren't a small family owned business, I'm not sure if I'd pay nearly $20 for a bowl of pho. However, it is my current go-to in the Sunset and I find myself back there about once a week!“

“Pretty solid banh mi. Like the other reviews said, there's a bit too much carrot for my taste. The bread is unique - it's crunchy and buttery, definitely not the traditional french baguette. However, I did enjoy the change of pace. The man making the sandwich was very kind and the service was fast. It satisfies my banh mi craving when I'm in the area!“
