I really do not enjoy leaving negative reviews for anyone.…. Note: I spoke with the manager who said they have been having issues all day with food quality. If that is the case and he’s been there, the staff obviously think it’s acceptable which means the manager is at fault for allowing such poor quality to go out. If he was on top of his game, staff would not feel comfortable enough to send out poor quality food to people while he is here. It’s basic protocol for management to ensure staff is presenting the highest food quality possible. Why is this not the case?To the Owner, hire a manager that cares about the quality of the food and repeat business for the restaurant…..However I throughly despise laziness when it comes to restaurants screwing up my food on purpose since it’s a delivery.I order the Greek fries with extra garlic, it came overcooked, double cooked fries, too hard and dark brown to even eat.I would suggest using another restaurant who cares about the quality of their food, doesn’t overcook and double cook their fries, leaving them to hard to eat and having to toss them in the trash and waste money.Management needs to focus on the quality of the food going out in the future.

Ordered Gyro salad, I chose the beef & lamb Gyro for my salad.I was expecting a Greek salad but only got some semi warm Gyro meat on top of just spinach leaves. The gyro meat tested ok but the overall taste was bland.

Another horrible restaurant in San Carlos - the meat is overcooked and rubbery, fries soggy and tasteless, and they try to fill with lettuce and dressing. There used to be a good Greek-like (Mediterranean) restaurant on Laurel (Santorini) - it was excellent - no comparison whatsoever to this inedible stuff. San Carlos eateries have really gone downhill.

Not a place for vegans/vegetarians. We were walking by and found this interesting place. The ambiance is cool and service is quick and good. Ample amount of seatings and good place for large family and friends gathering. However we tried the only vegetarian option falafel bowl which was $13. It wasn't worth it. The salad was cold, rice was balnd and falafels were undercooked, overall the combination did not work well with each other. I had such high hopes as the bowl looked so colorful. Would not recommend if you wanna try the vegetarian/vegan option here.

Food was not very good. Fries were tasteless and dry, pita bread was partially burnt, falafel was undercooked.

Good stop for a quick bite and if you're hungry! They closed at 10. These were pretty solid bowls ! We got the lamb and chicken souvlaki bowls which I wish I had more cucumber and tomato. Fries were a little dry but can't complain.

I really like the chicken gyros from Nick the greek. Ordered one today, eagerly awaiting for the order confirmation. It never came. I decided to go anyway and found the food a little cold. But that's ok. I was hungry and munched down greedily. Then, on the 5/6th bite, I felt something hard in my mouth. I contemplated swallowing it, thinking it was chicken bone. A couple of tongue feels later, i realized it was much larger. I spat it out. It was a screw.Called the restaurant. Daniel-- probably the attending supervisor there -- assured me there was no intent to contaminate the food. I sent him the pics. I asked him to investigate, which he did. At first he said he could not find the source of the screw. But I asked him to trace any machine that could have been in contact or close proximity to the food, be it vent hoods or other machinery. He finally found it. A chicken cutter was missing a screw. Daniel claimed it's not the first time he's encountered this problem. I told him to avoid this in the future he shoudl contact the supplier and notify corporate. It's a safety near miss. Hope Nick the greek and its employees do the right thing.

Delicious Greek food and quick service!I'm convinced that Nick the Greek never misses: I've been to this location twice and the Redwood City location multiple times, and the food is always fast, the employees are nice, and the service is always speedy. Nick the Greek is a restaurant group that really cares about quality.I ordered the lamb/beef gyro plate today, which I've never had before. It was ready within minutes, and came with a smorgasbord of food: lamb/beef, rice or fries (I chose rice), tatziki, tomatoes, onions, pita bread, and a side Greek salad (lettuce, olives, onions, tomatoes, and feta). I also got a side order of falafel to share my brother. The lamb/beef was warm and juicy and the rice was warm and fluffy. The tomatoes and onions added a sweet flavor that cut through the saltiness of the meat, and the tatziki was cooling and zesty. The pita bread acted as a nice palette cleanser in between bites of everything else on the plate. The Greek side salad was refreshing. The tomatoes were juicy, the lettuce was crisp and wet, and the feta and olives on top had great contrasting flavors (creamy and salty). I would get less onions next time, though, because their flavor was a bit overpowering.I barely even got to the falafel on account of how full I was from everything else, but the one piece I had was awesome: a crispy exterior and a warm, soft interior. If you're in downtown San Mateo, come and get some great Greek food at Nick the Greek!

Have ordered take out from here with my in laws and they've messed up the order twice (once the delivery, not totally their fault) and forgot the sauce for two items last time. Also my brother in law had to pick up another item that was not delivered for another previous order. Luckily I got a promo item with this order. Not impressed.

When I'm missing the homeland I come here for some quick greek street food and it always hits the spot. During the height of the pandemic I felt like their standards went down (not just NTG. But the whole food industry was affected), but for the last 6 months everything has been back to par. They have redeemed themselves. Quality and quantity is good and consistent. Their portion sizes are good and always make 2 meals for me. The only negative thing I would say is the froyo machine didn't work the last two times I went and it's literally my favorite thing. I don't even get the topping, I literally will get 2 plain froyos and keep them in my freezer at home and eat them for a week lol. (I come multiple times a month and usually take my food to-go)The workers are also nice as well, and always have a smile. Even with my complicated orders. And they are fast and efficient. And the music brings me back to Greek summer nights! Thanks NTG for always satisfying my greek food cravings!

The extra star is for the friendliness of the staff and cleanliness of the restaurant. Unfortunately, the food was nearly inedible. I thought souvlaki was supposed to be marinated so that it stays moist, the chicken was so dry that I didn't finish it and no amount of taziki could help get it down. They only give two skewers for an almost $20 plate. I feel like the meat should be the star of the plate, not the least appetizing part :(French fries were just okay, really soggy with oil. The pita today was simply stale, not just toasted...but actually difficult to bite into because it is old. The side salad was okay but pretty heavy on red onions. I don't usually complain but this was really low food quality today for the price.

- fast service - good food- clean restaurant Came here on a Sunday night. The staff was friendly and asked for our order right away. We ordered a falafel plate and lamb gyro with nick fries. The food came out fast and was hot. The food was delicious and portions matched the price. The restaurant was very clean compared to other Nick's I've been to. Good job, Nick the Greek San Carlos!

it's one of our favorite places in San Carlos. Nice food, very tasty and healthy. Good price compared to expensive restaurants around it. It's not a fancy place for atmosphere, but that's how they can cut down the cost for customers. We always take out or eat at their outdoor seating. Highly recommended for a quick budget meal.
