This place is near the top of my list for SF, especially after Marine Submarine changed owners and the new spot is not even close to what it used to be (and not to mention a very different style). Sandwiches come is different sizes to match your appetite. The slides meats are very high quality, and not just your average deli slices. I recommend the corned beef, pastrami, and roast beef. Like many Italian hoagies, the sauce is incredibly important and has to coat the lettuce and tomatoes just right. The bread is nice and flaky, and not too soft or doughy like a lot of other places. If I lived closer I would come here once a week. Note that they no longer have tables for you to sit inside, the are only take out right now.“

Today I was craving a sandwich and even saw a few posts about sandwiches on social media today, so I decided to stop in Marina Submarine. I've never tried a tuna melt, but it was raining today and it was calling my name. Not only was this tuna melt AMAZING, but it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had! It's really awesome to try something for the first time and be blown out of the water! The jalapeño on this sandwich gave it a nice subtle heat and added layer of flavor. Served on a crunchy yet soft on the inside Dutch Crunch Roll, the SMW is Grubbin's rendition of a non-spicy fried chicken sandwich with thick chunks of chicken breast meat dipped in batter and deep fried, accompanied with honey mustard and the standard sides (that come with all of their sandwiches of lettuce, tomato, onions, and their trademark "grub sauce" which I think is a little like "Thousand Island Dressing" perhaps.. put that all together and you've got a filling meal even before you get to your potato chips. Of course there are plenty of other meaty sandwich choices and all-veggie ones if that is more your speed. Tater tots too!! Also, the usual selection of Frito Lays chips are here, but their best chips are the Tim's Cascade Chips from the PNW.. Tim's Honey BBQ is awesome! She suggested 5th Avenue Deli & Market, a small, hidden gem tucked away in the Embarcadero Center near the corner of Clay and Drumm streets. They offer a large selection of sandwiches, non-alcoholic drinks, and chips to accompany their creations. While 5th Avenue has no indoor seating available, there are benches outside in the Embarcadero Center. I took it back to the office, and with the first bite, I was in love!
