I'm writing a delayed review and am so sad to see an institution close down! I feel lucky I finally got to go right before they closed. Zanze's is a San Francisco institution that quietly has produced the best cheesecake that I've ever had. Critics say it is the best in the U.S. I totally disagree. It is the best in the world! Aside from having a soft spot in my heart for old fashioned businesses that create something great using tried and true techniques, I just loved seeing Mr. Zanze in the back working away whenever I stopped by the quaint, quiet Ingleside Terrace shop. Sad to hear that they are closing.

The best cheesecake I have ever had. Truly a real crafted piece of fine desert. You have to order ahead of time and pick up at the shop. A must have every time I am in town. I would highly recommend to any cheese cake lover.
