The first time we came to Umai was during covid, and they only offered takeout. We wanted to try a different sushi restaurant from the regular place we go to and thought we'd return here. As soon as we entered, we were greeted and seated. Our waitress came to our table right away to take our drink order, which came out promptly. We then placed our order. Low key some of the best sushi I’ve had in San Diego. The ambiance is nothing special but the sushi is all to die for. The Blackedge and Midori rolls are my favorite and are polar opposites.
