Appalling. I performed as a musician there in September of 2021. Got home and deposited the check. Weeks later, as my wife was at the grocery store her card was declined. There should have been plenty of cash in there.\nThe venue's check wasn't honored and the money was charged back out of our account.\nWe listened to sob story after sob story about how tough business was, and were patiently working with the venue to recover our funds (still out of pocket after paying for flights from TN to CA, accommodation, musicians and agent fees) and have been paid half in October of 2021.\nAs of February 2022, after being in constant communication and listening to more sob stories, they have not paid the second half owing (a sizeable amount) and are also ignoring requests for a 2021 1099. We have engaged an attorney. Everything is in writing with the venue and can be proven what we are saying is 100% correct.\nWhat's worse, is according to their FB and Instagram pages - they have had countless musicians and music acts the last few months which I assume they paid, unless they stiffed them too.\nAVOID AT ALL COSTS. They clearly don't like to pay their vendors.

They pay their bands with bad checks and then force the bands to take legal actions against them to get paid. Avoid the venue at all costs as a performer or as a patron.

We had the most odd experience ever last night. 4 of us came by after the Phish concert last night, trying to catch a cool after show. We walked by and heard a bunch of Grateful Dead cover songs being played on the saxophone, it sounded SO fun! So the 4 of us walk over with our ID’s and cash ready. After a thorough look at two of our ideas the woman at the door then takes out the UV light, okay cool, it shined under the light like a real ID does, THEN she keeps looking, and d

The sound system is superb and the light show is stunning. A couple of hot djs, some amazing bands, and the rest is up to you. The dance floor is calling me home ?? how about you…?!

Don't support this business, new management is awful. I've had friends work for him and not get paid, and then when they are the checks bounce. Shady people run this joint now. Not worth your time or money.

To the point. The drinks are made with fermented alcohol, not distilled and very over priced. Get ready to spend top dollar on some very weak drinks. The owner is very rude to his employees and slacks on the service. The music is always brain melting loud and always about current politics. I loved Mac and Cheese After Dark, the little side shop this place had. But now that place is gone. So in my opinion, if you want real drinks, good food, and good service.. Go anywhere else.EDIT: Still as bad as always.

Never write reviews but our experience was horrible. New management has run this place into the ground. Late night grub at Mac n Cheese is gone! Over priced fake drinks. Horrible service and unwelcoming. Shady business.

Young people-- people in your 20s 30s --this is the place for you! I mean it, Thurs-Friday just try it out, you'll forreal be back every weekend. They place the BEST music, I just found out the guy has a residency here those days and he knows what he's doing. His music is literally everything you want to hear and it isn't cut up with weird techno. Hiphop, r&b, rap, from the 90s to now. Seriously if you come in and it's quiet then bring all your friends. Seriously this place is the best and y'all are just judging if you're not in here. Every place starts quiet but the music is so f******g good it's worth getting in here with all your friends. Their drinks are so cheap and have what you need. There's an upstairs and downstairs and chairs if you just want to chill. I really recommend it, there's no lines and no gross sweat rubbing up on you and the girls that work here are so sweet, they make you feel like family. During the week I also heard they have live music which is definitely want to try out. Seriously love it here. Im mid 20s and this is really the only place you'll find me, crowded or not. Don't sleep on it, bring al your friends, straight up the best place to dance all night. Also I'm pretty sure they're black owned, so all y'all that posted all over IG about "supporting black business" I better be seeing you here next weekend. Trust me just try it out, you'll be feeling like family so fast and won't want to go anywhere else. And THE MUSIC LET ME SAY IT AGAIN! It's hear it out yourself, you'll be fellin' yourself all night. And you'll definitely be seeing me Thurs-Friday no doubt!

I have been a local for 34 years, and I loved this venue, nicely remodeled. Very nice staff, clean environment, nice back patio. We went to see a band and it was great. I highly recommend Music Alley. Besides, the owner is present and keeps a good eye on everything.

I know so little about Music Alley, I'm probably not qualified to review it. So let me say as a promoter, this venue has heart, a key factor in my decision to book the band. I'm impressed with so many things about this relatively new Live Music Venue. It's about the music, it's about musicians, it's going to be a blast when our band has the pleasure of playing for you all. I just know it. We've needed a shot in the arm, something exciting , new and with great potential. This is it. A place where music is hallowed, and musicians are honored. I hope you take the leap. I'm a fan already.

After a great anniversary dinner at Holdren's, my wife and I walked State St.to enjoy to evening. We walked past Music Alley and heard a great jazz band warning up. We came back a little later to hear Linsky & Co. It is a great venue to hear live music. Callie JoZae fronts the trio with vocals and AC blazing amazing violin solos. Music Alley is a great place to hear live music on State St. and enjoy a drink!
