“Oh goodness this place was INCREDIBLE! We found it from searching for food in Sausalito and I’m so glad we did. It has the calmest, warmest ambiance and felt welcoming to us with our young kids. The servers and owners were beyond kind and the food was out of this world. The caprese appetizer was extremely flavorful and the pizzas were perfection. Couldn’t recommend this enough.“
“Wonderful spot for get together with old friends. We sat outside, little traffic noise and efficient heaters. Quite comfortable. The service was excellent- friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The food and wine is really top notch. The entire experience was perfect.“
“We arrived just in time for our reservation. Parking was right next door. We could tell this restaurant was where all the locals assembled. It was fun to watch old friends greet each other. Unfortunately several of the nightly specials were already sold out. We shared an appetizer, salad and entree. It was all delicious. We only have one complaint - it’s really loud. Be aware if you wear hearing aides.Parking: It’s right next door. BUT you must get your car out before 9pm!!!!“
“The fried calamari was soft and delicious. The sauce served with it was not too salty. Highly recommended.Carbonara was delicious, but it was not a typical taste, but a unique style that I had tried for the first time. Recommended.Punggi Pizza was pan-style pizza, not oven-style, and it was thick and the portion size was average. They came and checked between meals, and when I asked a question to a staff member who had some difficulty communicating in English, another server came to check again. It was nice to be able to have a quiet meal even though it was a weekend lunch.Kid-friendliness: There is a baby chair“
“In terms of ambiance, I'd agree that Osteria Divino is that rare find--a perfect restaurant for a date night. Intimate, dark, and definitely non-corporate. Service was "relaxed." We were here on a first date, and at first more interested in getting to know each other than ordering. And this wasn't a problem. I ordered a Manhattan at the bar, before my date arrived. The drink arrived 20 minutes later--but was really good. As was the seafood risotto. And the tiramisu was as good as I ever had, with the coffee nuance understated yet profound. I really liked this place. It held us well. And though I no longer live in Marin, I'll be back.“
“We had a great experience here for lunch! We were looking for clam chowder and asked a local shopkeeper for a recommendation. Seafood Peddler it is! They were able to seat us immediately in the little alcove on the second floor with a lovely view of the harbor. We had their lunch bowl of clam chowder, lobster bisque, and a few lobster rolls around our table. We really enjoyed the soups, and the sandwiches were stacked with lobster. Fries were great! Prices for the rolls were a bit steep, but to be expected. Our service was good - I loved how they pour the soup into the bowl at your table so it stays hot. Food came out crazy fast, which made for more time to explore!“
“My husband had to straight up perform CPR on me when we started eating because one bite into the tiramisu, I died and went to Heaven. Heaven was interesting. All of the angels there wore "Taste of Rome" tee shirts and sat around drinking Taste of Rome cappuccinos (which were, admittedly, quite heavenly). When I told the angels how I ended up dead, they nodded understandingly and several admitted they, too, also died and went to Heaven after one bite of the tiramisu. One passed after a bite of the cheesy garlic bread. It's a good thing we live 1.5 hours away, otherwise I'd be here every day depleting their tiramisu supply. There can't possibly be a better one ANYWHERE.“
“Live salsa band on Sunday is amazing. And the people who enjoy it like me are also amazing. Friendly crowd. Small dance floor, gets hot, two single-person unisex bathrooms from lines when it gets crowded. The owner seems a little salty, but the staff is very friendly, although sometimes they forget about you because they're so busy.“
“Seven Hills opens their kitchen and welcomes you into their home. The truffle pasta is what my boyfriend and I come back for every single time. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and the food is made so fresh. Truly incredible tasty date night spot — book ahead of time for sure as it does get busy. The polpette is a must try as well, the sauce is incredible“
“Cotogna was a superb experience from the minute we walked in. Service is warm and attentive, the food is spectacular. We loved everything we ate. The presentation was beautiful and the ambiance was cozy. We couldn’t ask for more. We were there to celebrate a birthday and it really made our night special to be at Cotogna. Thank you and keep it up!“
“What can I possibly say about Tony’s pizza that hasn’t already been said a million times before? The place is a North Beach staple, does a ton of business, serves awesome food and Tony is still humble enough to answer messages personally. Plus he’s a friend of cannabis! What’s not to love!“
“We had the best time at Sorella! The food was amazing and we left feeling full. The cocktails were perfectly balanced and delicious and the wine recommendations we had paired with our meal so well. Our favorite part about the dinner though was the service! Our waiter was extremely attentive but not over bearing. He was also hilarious which added to the experience! Everyone was so respectful and happy. Truly a great experience- we will be back!“
“Started with focaccia bread. Had the amberjack crudo as an appetizer. Then two pasta dishes- the GRAMIGNA, SAUSAGE RAGU, PEA LEAVES, PARMIGIANO REGGIANO and the CASONCELLI, RICOTTA, GREEN GARLIC PESTO, PISTACHIO. Both were insanely good!!! They also a great sake selection. I ordered the Sake flight, and told my server that I preferred dry sake - not sweet. She recommended three, and they were all fantastic. Highly recommend this place. “
“I’m up at 4 am, no clue why and I’m hungry. I scroll through photos of my recent trip to Italy and get hungrier. Then I randomly recall this amazing ragu I had at AltoVino. Such is the rabbit hole of my brain today.I first stumbled upon this place a few years back when my gf and I were randomly walking down this street after exploring Chinatown. Looked good, half empty, so we sat down outside for what was an amazing meal. I recall thinking “holy s***, what is this place and why is it here and why is it so good and why is it…. So good?” Since then we’ve been a few times more, and each time was equally amazing. For me what I find particularly fascinating about this place is its own unique balance across its often refreshed menu. It’s an intelligently restrained yet creative balance of tradition and new “California” flair. One dish may stick rather close to a traditional Amatriciana while another consists of an intriguing mixture of ingredients that just simply makes sense once tasted. There’s something for everyone and everything is excellent. It speaks to the experience and refined palate of the owners. All paired with a fantastic wine menu, your meals will be memorable here each time.I’ve recommended this place to anyone that has asked me, “what are some top places to eat in SF?” And I swear on baby Jesus that AltoVino has come out of my mouth within the first 3 places I mention, each time. And to this day, well I suppose to this late morning - I still don’t know why this place isn’t booked out every single evening. It’s bizarre. So ignore reviews that say “we weren’t satisfied because we were still hungry afterwards.” Which, is one of the dumbest reasons for mediocre reviews because, what, a restaurant is supposed to figure out or cater to your appetite? Ignore reviews that say “oh this place wasn’t authentic.” Hmm what sort of authentic were you looking for? What is authentic at the end of day?Because if authentic is a menu honoring its ingredients, staying true to the local spirit while paying generous and fantastic homage to the cuisine’s roots, then this is one such place.Ok back to sleep.“
“Loved the ambiance here! Would come here for an occasion. Saw people on dates and with their friends/family! Waitress was incredibly nice and lovely. Wasn’t as amazed by food as I thought I’d be but would certainly return.Note: Parking was tough.“
“We ordered what they are known for, the roast chicken, and it was very tasty. Probably one of the best roast chicken I’ve had. I think the thighs were the best part since the breast can be dry, so the bread that was filled in the chicken with balsamic meshed really well with. The chicken has tree nuts!We ordered Caesar salad, the cheese and crackers dessert, bread + butter, and eton mess. The salad was good since the dressing was much lighter and the croutons crispy but not hard. The cheese and cracker with apricot was heavy and strong on the cheese, the preserves balanced it out very well. The bread and butter was ok. Not warm, could have more butter.Eton mess was also decent, filled with cream, rhubarb.I thought it was interesting and probably part of their service that the wait staff remember all your orders without pen or paper. Service was friendly and we enjoyed our dinner here. We lucked out on parking, didnt see many spots.Parking: Depends on time of day. There are enforcement signs for M-F. Please read carefully before parking.“
“One of the most affordable yet delicious pizza in town. Other than simple pizza like pepperoni or combo, they have clam and garlic, which is quite unique. It is a square style pizza so it is a quick thick and filling. Well, if you are hungry, please get two! The staff is quick and attentive as well.“
“The food here was fantastic; everything was delicious. We also ordered the Pezza de Angioni a sa Saba (Seared Lamb Tenderloin Tagliata Sardinian Saba), and one of the specials for the day, which was a pasta with a tomato-based beef and mushroom sauce. Our plates were clean. The bread for the table was perfect for picking up any leftover sauce. We got there right as it opened, and the restaurant filled up as the time went by; the volume in the place slowly increased as we dined there. The service was decent, and our water glasses were filled on a consistent basis. I'm not sure if they added specials for the day as the night went on, but other tables seemed to be told about more than the two specials that we heard when we arrived. I would definitely return at least once more if I am back in the city, as I would like to try the Pasta Cruzza cun Arrizonis (Artisanal Fusilli Sea Urchin Tomato Cured Tuna).“
“Just happened to stumble into this wonderful restaurant on a rainy holiday Sunday evening and couldn't have had a better experience. Our reservation at Original Joe's was getting bumped out 30-45 minutes so we bailed. Lucky us. It was too loud to even talk at Original Joe's. We'll be returning to Trattoria Contradina in the future.Dietary restrictions: They did have some gluten-free options. Yea.“
“This was a great place for a date night. The portions were smaller than we expected but everything was delicious. The papardelle was tasty but we felt like they could have been more generous with the mushrooms or “Funghi.” Even the broccolini portions felt scant. The citrus avocado salad was bright and tasty and the cacio e Pepe was cheesy in the most perfect way. Overall everything was tasty but we wished there was slightly more of everything that were highlights of the dish.Vegetarian options: Cacio e Pepe, pappardelle with funghi, all the salads“
“The owners treated us like we were family! Service was impeccable! Food was cooked to perfection. Big portions, we both had left overs for another meal! Prices are more than reasonable!Dietary restrictions: They were wonderful accommodating my Celiac!“
“Pinsa Rossa is absolutely amazing! Their appetizers, salads, and, of course, the pinsas with their crunchy, flavorful crusts are all top-notch. Ken and his team have done an incredible job creating a dining experience that’s simply outstanding!Dietary restrictions: My daughter, a brand new lactating mom who can’t consume lactose products, asked for a pinsa with vegan cheese, and we couldn’t tell the difference, it was great!Parking: There’s parking available half a block away from the place.“
“Among many excellent Italian spots in the city, this stood out. The homemade pasta has the perfect texture, and the fillings and sauces are delicate and wonderful. Service was kind and attentive, and the space - a favorite when it was Locanda and Ancora - remains intimate and elegant. Looking forward to another opportunity to dine.“
“This place is an absolute neighborhood gem!The only reason I am giving it a 4 instead of a 5 is because it is inconsistent during Happy Hour.In late July, I went with two friends and had the best dry sparkling rose and spritz - appetizers were all wonderful.Today, the sparkling rose on the happy hour menu was $12. I really don't mind paying more because "it's organic and bio-dynamic", but I felt I was drinking a grapefuit juice. The crostini with burrata were not good because the burrata was cold and not at ambiant temperature. I think the staff was not the same as usual and the overall menu was completely off. It's such a great place... I hope it comes back to where it was back during the Summer.“
“I visited last week for dinner with my family. We didn't make a reservation and arrived around 6pm. We got seating in the back, which was an outdoor area. Right away they told us there were reservations so we would only be able to eat till around 7:15ish, which was totally okay. The back area was very cute, and extremely warm with the heater. For the food, we got 2 pizzas - honey pepperoni and the one with mushrooms. They were both good, but the crust was the best part. And the honey pepperoni said spicy on the menu but wasn't spicy at all.For appetizers, we got garlic bread and burrata cheese salad. The bread was on the drier side, couldn't taste much garlic. But the salad was very good.Overall, nice experience!“
“Flour+Water was an insanely great experience. every dish i tried was in the top tier of things i have ever tried. The amberjack in citrus sauce i almost considered just ordered a couple more and eating JUST THAT... but i had already ordered a couple other things. at some point i asked the waitstaff her preference across a couple pasts dishes i was considering, and i think she and i both heard different things - so the happy accident was that she brought all of them... and i ate them all anyway, all crazy good. the caramelle with squash stuffing was divine. Anyway, trying to figure out when i can make it back with more friends and family to be sure they try it too.“
“This is my favorite place for a nice dinner in the Castro. The cozy upstairs location feels miles away from the craziness down on 18th Street. I love the interesting cocktail specials, the pasta dishes, and the tiramisu for dessert. We had an especially nice meal there for Thanksgiving.“
“The lasagna here is indeed special. It might be a bit pricey to my standard but you got a solid, in fact, special lasagna. It is definitely bold yet have the light feeling that you can enjoy the whole way through. The most unique feature of the lasagna here is that it is crispy at the bottom. I asked the shop owner and he did not reveal the secret. I tried tiramisu and it is good as well. When I looked at it, it though it was dry. However, when I tasted it, it was moist enough for you to enjoy, but the fullness of cheese filled your mouth. It is a small cup of tiramisu but it is rich enough that you should share with someone else. In any event, this place is great and the shop owner is very friendly. If you are craving for lasagna, you can come here. Oh the pasta looks amazing too. I should try it next time.“
“Caffè Macaroni continues to be one of San Francisco's very best & most authentic Italian restaurants. Extensive menu, great food, very friendly staff, and a classic North Beach setting. You can spend a lot more to eat “upscale” pseudo-Italian food at places like Aquerello or Sorella. At the latter, the manager will tell you that you need to leave after an hour or so to make way for the next round of guests. Never mind that you're being charged a small fortune for the brief time you're there. Head to Caffe Macaroni!“
“Authentic Italian dining experience. The tonnarelli pasta was incredibly unctuous and savory with the perfect balance of mushrooms, cream and ground Italian sausage. I would absolutely order it again. The rigatoni all'Amatriciana was bright, tart, from the tomato sauce, and offset by the slight salty, savory quality of the pork cheek. Service was just right. The accents of the wait staff charmed. The location is small, a plus, spare, and a bit cool. Otherwise, a nice neighborhood spot, though worth the drive from outside the city too.“
“Always a great time. This day, we ordered birria consome and pollo verde huarache. Not only were they delectable, we got to sit next to a big Mexican themed nativity scene with three Our Ladies of Guadalupe!! Everyone comes here, families, working ppl, the whole neighborhood. It's located in a quiet side street off the main strip.“
“I'm sad to hear this place has closed. I've gone to this place a good handful of times. The food was out of this world. The waitstaff was amazing. So much energy, genuinely wanted their patrons to enjoy their meal, and experience. I hope you pass your recipes onto someone else. People should experience what I have.“
“Food was amazing also the vibes in this restaurant are spectacular it's very lively. I had ended up having a cocktail over wine of course the gimlet there was bomb I ended up having two. Service was overly great I must say like a little too great not saying that I don't like to be checked up on but any given moment things were cleared and we were asked how is everything ...glasses were always full. The potatoes were alright and the brussel sprouts the same. I wasn't really digging the beef short rib but the agnolotti dal plin ugh was so good I will come back just for this.“
“This was our first visit to Che Fico and we had heard the food was very good. I'd say that was an understatement- the food was amazing! They had a little different twist on the traditional Caesar salad with a delicious crumbly topping. The tagliatelle with ragu was hands down the best I've ever had! The pizza was also something you won't soon forget. The fresh tomato sauce is so delicious I still think about how it tastes and the quality of the Parmesan cheese used is the best. Our waitress really nice and was very helpful with suggestions. The pacing of the meal was very well timed, not rushed but we were not left sitting for a long period of time. All in all a great evening with the food definitely being the star!“
“Went here for dinner with my neice, and it was amazing. The staff was very friendly. We were a little cold and the staff brought us blankets. A must try was the meatballs, yummy. The salad was delicious, as was the pasta. Generous servings, and the food was nice and hot.“
“Very cool looking establishment. Top notch speedy service. I had the fettuccini Alfredo with shrimp and found it delicious not overly creamy which is commonly done and the shrimp was tasty . I especially enjoyed their spinach artichoke dip as it seemed like very fresh ingredients and not your typical generic fare and it came with delicious crisp large Melba toast like crackers which complimented it well . The calamari was very tender with a light and tasty batter . Really liked the accompanying sauces . The desserts were phenomenal but I especially recommend the butter cake . An excellent experience.“
“We had the pan-seared scallops and the Tagletelle special dish: tagletelle, snap pea segments, mushrooms, smoked prosciutto and a light cream sauce. And the Tiramisu for dessert. All were superb! And the service was impeccable. Highly recommend.“
“This was our first visit. Dinner was delicious and service awesome. Top quality! I don't think there is anything on the menu that's not going to be yummy. We can't wait to go back and try more on the menu. The Panacotta was the best we've ever had and we've had a lot . Cheers“
“I had one of the best restaurant meals ever in San Francisco last night at Sorrel. The pictured dish is described as maitake / potato / dashi, the first course of seven and my favourite. The wine pairing was very good, and the service outstanding. Great celiac accommodation for me. Instead of the pasta based crab dish I got a stunningly excellent sun-choke risotto. Highly recommended for a special occasion.Dietary restrictions: I had excellent accommodation for my celiac affliction. Instead of the pasta based crab dish I got a stunningly excellent sun-choke risotto.“
“Few Saturday ago I had lunch here with some friends that they had already tried it. The owner is Italian and I spoke a little bit with him. The three of us shared the risotto of the day (seafood risotto), the octopus and the veal parmigiana, while my husband just the lasagna that he really loved it (and he is very picky about it). Risotto was good even though it was more similar to paella (speaking of taste it was good), octopus was good too, while the parmigiana wasn't my favorite but just because I don't like this dish in general (my friends really liked it). The owner was very friendly and gave to my baby a cup of ice cream. I was so busy to eat that I forgot to take pictures. Next time!!“
“I sat outside, saw the Halibut special on the little pop up sign they put out… was delicious, well prepared and the temperature of the fish was just right… barely cooked all the way through, steaming while I ate, but tender and watery… the veggies and potatoes accompanying were simple yet delicious. Great flavors, will stop in again.“
“Even as someone who doesn't usually go for pasta, I want to come back here. Really great food that feels like it should cost more, and once you're impressed with a dish, you can then check their counter and take supplies home to have more. I love the energetic vibe, and how they've made use of the space. It's charming to be in a busy, active restaurant, where the staff still presents you your dishes with an explanation and answers your questions.“
“A friend recommended Ciccino and the experience was wonderful. Small, not too noisy, great staff and excellent food. There were four of us, so we did a shared plate meal with wine. Focaccia, scallop skewer, romaine fennel salad, tartare, ravioli carbonara, rib eye, and dessert. The two specials were also exceptional. The oyster ravioli was my favorite. The owner and chef also made it a point to visit each table giving an extra special touch to the service level. Call in advance for reservations as seating is limited. Excellent experience.“
“Loved our experience at a Mano! Our server was incredibly sweet! She gave the best recommendations and really made our experience incredible. We had the steak, cauliflower, burrata, foccacia, lamb ravioli, several cocktails, and a carafe of one of the reds (all excellent recommendations by our server). The restaurant was very cute, clean, and busy, although we were able to get seated right away. Definitely recommend a Mano for a fun evening out. It's a great place to take parents, out of town guests, friends, and oneself.“
“It was a delight to be invited here for dinner. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the service was fantastic and food was unique and high quality.I was thrilled to learn that the flour comes from Italy so my gluten intolerances can be managed with imported flour - what a treat! The liver mousse was an interesting and unique starter and the linguine limone with crab was a solid dish.“
“First time eating a deep dish chicago-style pizza as it's my first time in the US, and this was something else. Very nice, definitely different than a good old Napoletana I am used to :) the thin crust pizza was also very nice! For the two of us (one adult man and one woman), we've ordered a 10" thin crust pizza and an 8" deep dish pie (old Chicago style), and it was more than enough for us. The full-sized deep dish pie looked huge so I'm glad we didn't order it! It seemed like it would fill 4 adult men.“
“Came here for a nice quiet birthday dinner for my wife. Glad we came here! The staff was very attentive and professional. Food was absolutely amazing. And ambience was picturesque. My wife the next day thanked me emmincely on taking her there for her birthday. Great job peeps at Luna Blu!“
“We had a wonderful birthday dinner eating at one of the quieter tables and spacious booths. The pizza was delicious. Because the kitchen was slower than usual, they brought us complimentary olives and a dessert. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. A nice evening for special occasion.“
“WOW!!!! One of the best dining experiences of my life hands down! Start to finish this was incredible. Our Server has been there for decades and they are lucky to have him. His friendliness and attentiveness were unmatched, his recommendations and attention to detail were exceptional. We will be talking about and recommending this restaurant to anyone and everyone! Ps- try the gnocchi!“
“Excellent experience. Service was great and the food was fantastic. Oysters were fresh and tasty, as was the prawn cocktail. We ordered lobster risotto on the recommendation of the staff and it was really good. And their daily special included Dungeness Crab in garlic butter - out of the world. Fantastic experience, highly recommend.“
