Restaurantji's Simi Valley Mexican restaurant picks are here.
“These guys hit it on all that counts! The service was great from the second I walked in until I left! Food was excellent and the atmosphere was fun! That's a lot of exclamation points but they earned it! I started with the House Margarita with Chips and Salsa, both were great but the salsa was to die for. I had the Fajitas El Patron for dinner, OMG...the steak and chicken were so tender they could both be cut with a fork and the flavor was spectacular. Loved the shrimp too and the veggies were caramelized to perfection. Can't wait to come back!“
“Really great place. They have a lot of local beers on tap such as Enegren, Topa Topa, Made West, along with a few others. They have big TVs all around with sports games on, it gives more of a sport bar vibe than a Mexican restaurant. The service was really fast and friendly. The food was really good I had the Carne Asada Tacos Street Style and the Chicken Nachos. I feel the Tacos were a little pricey at $3.75 each however the Chicken Nachos which I think were $12 were really good and came with lots of toppings and the Guacamole that comes on the Nachos was tasty as well. Over all great place to chill and eat some great Mexican food.“
“We ordered the Vista Al Mar appetizer with a pitcher of margaritas. The place is very clean. We found it to be a decent spot and definitely plan to come again. Next time I want to try to Birra tacos.Vegetarian options: There are veggie options.“
“Jerry's Coffee Shop is not just yummy; it's a delightful haven for coffee lovers and food enthusiasts alike! The friendly atmosphere and welcoming staff create a warm and inviting environment. Under the new management, the experience has been elevated to a whole new level. The coffee is rich and flavorful, and the food is consistently delicious. I absolutely love the positive changes they've made, and it's become one of my favorite spots for a scrumptious meal and a friendly chat. Jerry's Coffee Shop is a true gem, thanks to the wonderful new management!“
“I just stopped by today and had a great experience here. I got carnitas and al pastor street tacos and they were unbelievable. Such great flavors in the meat. Also the green and red salsa were very complimentary (red salsa is smoky spicy yum). Got the asada quesadilla for the kids (of course I had a bite) and was really pleased with the asada flavor too! Even the sour cream is great, homemade you can tell. The attention to quality is apparent!I am super glad because the first few times I was not impressed. Maybe I got the wrong things, and it seemed expensive, but everything was great at the service was great as well! It was only $20 and was enough food for 3 adults. Saw they have really good $12 lunch deals now too. Can't wait to come back!!“
“I have been to El Pollo Corona Grill, a few times both in their MoorPark and their Simi Valley locations. The food is excellent! Compliments to their chefs! I have had their chicken, tri-tip and pork chop plates. Service is very fast and very friendly. The place is clean and orderly. Often there are many people in their restaurant, either sitting enjoying their meal or getting takeout. Their counter attendants are welcoming, quick and very good at what they do helping to keep the line moving. Thank you ElPollo Corona Grill team for a great experience and place to have lunch or dinner!“
“Moving to simi is a big culture shock. I been too many Mexican restaurants(in simi area) and they all have failed, but Burger express saved the day. Me and my family came to burger express,The staff is very friendly,They have big menu with authentic Mexican food. I order the asada burrito (wet) it was delicious. The rice and beans had perfect flavoring, the asada was not dry. My partner order the Chile verde burrito, the meat was well cooked the meat had lots of flavor. The food service was really fast. I highly recommend if you are looking for real Authentic Mexican food.“
“Being my first time at Yolanda’s, I did not know what to expect, but I must say, I was pleased with my visit. The atmosphere resembles that of a traditional Mexican dine-in restaurant with traditional color schemes and decor and there was a good amount of seating, which means really nice. The waitstaff was friendly, however, it did take quite a long time to order and receive our food. It was about 15 minutes before our order was taken and another 20 minutes before our food arrived, which was quite disappointing, especially after mentioning that we were a little short on time. The food, however, was very good and came with big portions. The flavors were pretty authentic and everyone was pleased with their dishes.Overall, I recommend giving it a try, as long as you have enough time.“
“This place had great food, incredible service, and reasonable prices. For me it was great in every aspect.Would definitely go back.I had a Carne asada burrito. The meat was chopped up very small. Great flavor. Also the chips and salsa was a little spicy but very good.“
“The strongest Margaritas in Simi Valley! If you want a guaranteed “heavy pour” Margarita, Don Cuco’s will deliver. Equally important is their impressive and diverse menu, including many authentic Mexican dishes. Absolutely worth a visit, if you’ve never been there. It has a huge following for everyone familiar with their cuisine.“
“Called in an order, arrived at the time they had indicated it would be ready. Took awhile before anyone acknowledged my presence to pay, took another few minutes for my take out to be ready. The panzon and carnitas are excellent. I'll come back for those.“
“I had been at this place before but I can say that this time was magnificent, even we waited for a while i have to say that it was worth it food was so delicious and perfect with friendly costumer service, clean restaurant and bathrooms..I can't wait to come back and enjoy this wonderful experience one more timeThank you, El Patio Crew.“
“The food is good and healthy if you pick smart, good quality, I got the power plate half shrimp, half salmon with quinoa and veggies and yams! Like always.. the cookers super fast, the guys at front are so dedicated to their job, everybody so friendly and helpful, thanks Sharkys ?“
“The pozole here is incredible according to my family and they love the unique taste and love coming here. I personally got the lengua burrito and I’m going to be honest here it was alright. The waitress was really helpful at making things right whenever we had a problem with our food but also making sure we were enjoying it. Very friendly staff. The inside seating is a little cramped if you come in with five plus people.Parking: The parking for this place is very cramped and holds about 7 cars without it being maxed out.Kid-friendliness: Super friendly to kids. My little sister didn’t like the burrito and the waitress speaker to her in a kind way asking what she can do to make it right.“
“Best Mexican food in Simi Valley. Great little family operation. Their breakfast is probably the best thing they do. Best breakfast burrito, and huevos rancheros I’ve ever had. Their rice and beans are excellent. Love their burritos, shrimp tostadas, shrimp tacos, and tacos durados with el pastor. Hector and his wife always make you feel so welcome. Highly recommend and I’m a very tough critic. Have worked in restaurants for 16 years.“
“Hadn't been here in years. Grew up on the west side & this place was a staple. Looks like it still is. Came in at 11:30am on a Saturday & they are doing a good amount of business. Lots of take out orders. Prices are reasonable. Try em if u haven't.“
“I go to Carrillos every Saturday and order takeout. This place makes the Best burritos in Simi Valley. Ingredients are always fresh and the quality of their meats are unmatched. You can actually taste the quality in each bite. Their counter service is always extremely polite and the wait time is always short. If you like burritos I suggest the Chicken Burrito Supreme.“
“Came in Saturday night of Thanksgiving weekend and the place was dead. Me & my wife had Asada Burritos that were excellent. The owner was super nice & gave us the remote for the TV without us asking. Let us pick something to watch on Netflix. Restaurant is clean and the drinks are cold. Go pay them a visit and give a local spot some business. They've been here for 19 years and it would be great if they can stay open for another 19 years. Say hi to Lupe. She rocks!“
“I think this place has a new owner. We rolled, ordered our usual, and low and behold they gave us actual glassware for our margaritas. Then the food came and it was on actual plates. Even had a little basket for my fries and a sizzling plate for the fajitas. The food was ever so slightly different. A little blander, but has bigger proportions. The band was ok, just too loud for my liking.“
“We went for dinner on a Sunday about 8 pm. The place had a lot of customers even though they close at 9 pm.The staff was friendly and attentive. My girls liked the kids menu and are their leftovers the next day.I had the fried quesadillas and shared a couple tacos and everything was really good.We had a very pleasant outing.Vegetarian options: Lots of options.Kid-friendliness: Kids menu“
“Went here for the first time. I've seen the place before but never really paid it much attention. Our family checked this place out due to how busy one of our favorite places was, and we were able to be seated in the bar area. Not a big deal as they had a couple TVs for sports. In our view, with what we had ( street tacos, enchiladas, and hard tacos) we will return. Service was great, and all service staff was respondent to our requests. The absolute best in town? Hard to say, but the food we ordered was very good, and we'd absolutely go back. It's another locally owned venue that we will happily support.“
“Probably my favorite Mexican (Tex-mex) restaurant in all of Simi. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and it’s still the best with the nicest people that work there. When I’m here, I’m most likely getting their chicken tacos, enchiladas, or the carnitas burrito. All of these are incredible and pure comfort food. Make sure to look at their value meal menu, because you can usually get something that allows you to mix and match, which is pretty cool.“
“OMG! I found a hidden gem! I took myself out to dinner and decided to give this place a try!Authentic af!!The tripas were crispy and tasty and my tacos had a ton of meat! The asada was juicy and delicious! The birria was legit and tasted like a true Mother made it!I also drank some Jamaica/Hibiscus and it was thirst quenching and yummy!I will definitely come back!“
“Finally got a chance to try this place. Was not disappointed. The owner works the register & Was really helpful. Gave us a quik breakdown of what was what. Prices are reasonable & portions are solid. Food was great. The Quesadillas are bomb. Nachos were on point.“
“This restaurant is no frills but has excellent food, large servings. Dishes could be shared. The staff was very nice. The combo fajitas were some of the best we have had anywhere.Kid-friendliness: My daughter has 18 month old twins and were able to accommodate both at the table“
“Came here for lunch during the week and ate outside as the weather was nice. Great service. Delicious margaritas, amazing salsa, huge portions. Not being rushed and checked on regularly. Made for a nice leisure lunch. Chili relleno and enchiladas are very good. Coming back for drinks and food when I need another reset during the work day.Vegetarian options: Cheese enchiladas, vegetable burrito, nachos. Beans do not use lard.Parking: Parking lot on site.“
“I love the service and food. I gave it 4 stars because it was cold inside. I did not say anything to the owner, so that was on me. I am sure that they would have tried yo accommodate. Seriously fantastic mango margaritas! And everything I've tried is delicious. If you are in a hurry order ahead because it is made fresh. Otherwise, order a margarita and stay and enjoy.“
“I love this place and the employees were all so great and made me feel very welcomed. The the food was amazing to they serve breakfast all day and I was in that kinda mood but my husband ordered the taco's and they were delicious it all was.“
“I met with a couple of former coworkers for Margarita Monday and some snacks. From the moment I walked in, service was excellent. I told the hostess that I had a reservation for 1, but that some others were going to be joining me (unsure how many). Due to having bad knees, I asked for a high top table. She told me to sit where I liked. A few minutes later I was greeted by a server who took my drink order. Within a minute or two after that, someone came by with chips & salsa and asked if I had been helped. The guava margarita was delicious. My friends joined me a few minutes later and ordered the Chupacabra margarita and a cucumber margarita. They both said their drinks were good. After catching up over a couple cocktails each, we ordered a few happy hour food items. The taquitos, buffalo wings and loaded asada fries were all delicious. Throughout the evening, service was excellent. Our waiter checked to see if we needed additional drinks or anything else to eat throughout our stay. Several of the tables had birthdays which were met with quite the celebration! Great to see the staff take part in recognizing someone's special day. The only negative thing about the location are the high ceilings and openness of the building that make it rather noisy. Not so much that you can't carry on a conversation at your table, just not a quiet one.“
“Fantastic service great vibe. Food was good a little above average. They are a cantina but DO NOT serve alcohol. They said they will be soon but as of our visit they did not. The pork belly was amazing and the best dish we had. The quest fundido was delicious but the addition of chorizo would have made it over the top delicious. The Asada is not a traditional Carne Asada. It was a bit chewy and I would not get it again. The breakfast tacos were delicious. You can't go wrong giving this place a try and maybe you'll enjoy the asada more than we did. I will definitely be back once they open the bar and give other items a try.“
