“We found very good wine, food and conversation at Golden Leaves during our visit to the Fair Play area. Alex and Josey are the definition of life long learners having taken on the challenge of learning viticulture and winemaking from the ground up after retirement. They are enthusiastic and willing to share their experiences and knowledge. We enjoyed out visit greatly.”

“The food here is absolutely amazing!!!!! I had lemon thyme risotto with Scallops, my husband the Salmon. We had calamari for appetizer, and banana foster for dessert. Everything was cooked perfectly. The scallops were so tender and fresh. The ambience was nice, and I thought the drink selection was great. They do have kids menus if you want to bring your kids. It's probably the best food we have had in a while. Service was spot on. I highly recommend going here. It is a gem in the middle of nowhere, lol.”

“This used to be the best restaurant in the area, but ever since Maria took over it is one of my favorite restaurants PERIOD. I used to love the burgers so was glad to see them stay on the menu and wasn’t interested in trying the Mexican food. But when I finally did I never looked back. Carnitas are my favorite and the rice and beans are maybe the best I’ve ever had. Also, everyone on staff is super nice. Love this place”

“As a dual citizen of Italy and America it is so hard to find food places that feel like home and aren’t “Italian American” where it’s nothing but pizza and spaghetti. This food was AMAZING! I can’t wait for my momma to come visit so I can take her here! 10/10 will recommend to anyone! The portions are perfect, I left feeling so full and had to get my cannoli to go.”

“Absolutely amazing food. Every single thing we had was delicious. The beef Bourgogne stew was my favorite. The pre fixe was a great deal and the cod was cooked perfectly. The only complaint I have about the dessert is that it was too good and I want more. Best meal I've had in a long time and reasonably priced as well!”

“Stop here after a round of golf, and I must say the pepperoni pizza was absolutely the bomb. The crust was just the way I like it, not too crispy and not too chewy! “This was our first time here, we saw the place 2 days ago, but we were in a hurry, but we decided we will try it in the way back home, and we did and everything was excellent, the BBQ was flavorfull, all the meats came off the bone easily and all the sides were perfect, specially the cole slaw and the green beans and the rolls, they reminded me of my country.Everything was great, from food to the place to the staff.Keep up the good work and the superb food.Parking: Right at the door, lots of spots.Kid-friendliness: This food is perfect for everyone, kids will love it.”

“For months I would stop and read the menu but just couldn’t bring myself to try one their “concoctions”. That was my loss. I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone trying several of their master pieces and have not been disappointed once. This place is like the Disney Epcot of sandwich shops. Ready for an American classic, the biscuits and gravy sandwich might be their simplest sandwich but I’m salivating right now just thinking about it. The gravy is top three I’ve ever had, if not the best. Ready for a trip south of the border, the enchiladas suizas sandwich might be my favorite so far (minus the sour cream). The addition of the chips might seem like something my kid would do, but don’t think this sandwich would be same without them. The salsa verde rivals anything I’ve had at any Mexican restaurant. Looking for something a little on the sweet side then give the honey walnut prawns a try, and continue down the Asian fusion path with the pot sticker cheese burger. I could go on but just know your trip around the culinary world doesn’t stop there. Don’t like to travel, no problem, the cheese burger will more than get the job done. Fair warning, they have a lot of fun and work their butts off, but on busy days there can be a bit of a wait so take some time and enjoy all Main Street has to offer. It will be more than worth it.”

“Popped by here after jury duty in Placerville and oh my... These sweet treats were perfect!! This place is such a cute little bakery with lots to choose from! I got their chocolate chip cookie, and it is just how I like them -- so soft, not too sweet, and almost like cookie dough! I also got the oatmeal thin mint cookie, which sounded interesting at first but wanted to try, and it was delightful! It's not too sweet and had a perfect balance with the mint. I also tried their coconut macaroons which were amazing! Reminded me of how my mom makes them! Thank you for such a wonderful treat! I definitely need to come back to try the gelato, which looked AMAZING.”

We've never been disappointed the menu and service is excellent . Just after a couple of visits they remember our favorites. “Located in the far side of a strip mall. Plenty of parking. Cozy restaurant, a throwback to earlier days. Warm greeting and attentive staff. Mostly booth seating. Food is perfect if you Are looking for Mexican food with little deviation from mild. The Chile verde was tasty but the beans (whole) and rice were bland. Complimentary chips were excellent and salsa was good. The restaurant was busy for a Thursday afternoon.”

“Great place to stop for lunch and a brew (or soda). They also now serve breakfast! Pulled pork was good, lots of tasty fries. Portions were generous. Food is Hawaii themed. I will visit again. If you are exploring Apple Hill / Camino, it is awesome.”

“Enjoyed a late lunch here on our drive back from Lake Tahoe to the Bay Area. Didn't get to try their Lobster Bisque since they were out (Friday ~2pm), but our daughter loved their clam chowder. The Baked Brie was so delicious - served with warm bread, dried fruit, grilled onions and truffles. It was gone within a few minutes! For our mains, the crab cake sliders were fine, nothing spectacular. But their Salmon Salad was a hit! The salmon was cooked just right, not too dry, with a lightly sweet, refreshing dressing. I wish I could bottle up the dressing and take it home! We'll definitely be coming back when we're in town again.”

“Visited this place yesterday while driving around the area and looking for wineries that were open during holiday Christmas week. Found this one and the place had some good wines. Good sparking wines as well and in a very quiet and nice atmosphere. The ambiance was nice and really quiet during the time we went so that was cool. “Visitng town and family recommended The Forester for dinner. From them, I found out the history of the Past and Present of the restaurant. The old location, the new and still shifting into full gear in some parts. Noting they are getting the flow going, sometimes felt a little hectic, but there were so many redeeming points. My favorite was having a small conversation with Helen after dinner. Bill she mentioned you as well! I had the Jagersnitzel w Kraut and Dumpling w Gravy. If you've experienced true German food before. You can appreciate this food greatly. The dumpling was spectacular, the pork was juicy while breading was soaking in the greatness from the mushroom gravy. We only visit a couple times of year and will make this a staple. “Home cooking like my Grandma made..... the place is small but has.a true Hispanic charm ....right down to the salsa and chips. Portions are way large... and prices a great value.... Less than a thin in and out burger..... So glad they survived Covid closeting ..... We have had most things on the menu. I love Carne asada burritos.....my husband goes for chicken tacos and beef taco... please stop by.....small hole in the wall places like this are true gems... “I have celiac and dearly miss all baked goods. My best friend bought me a plethora of goodies from Flourless. They were all amazing!!!! If I didn't know they were GF I would've been worried they were after a bite. That's how good they are. You can't tell that they are gf. They don't look it and they don't taste it. I had the pizza dough, scones, cake, tart, meringue thingy, mousse thingy, puffs, eclairs. He has savory and sweet options. But my absolute favorite was the bear claw!!! When was the last time a celiac had a fresh fluffy bear claw??? Even some gluten eaters remarked at how great they were and that they couldn't tell it was gf. Please make a yeast raised glazed donut.
