Take a look at our favorite South El Monte Mexican restaurants.
“There is a line out the door for a reason.1. This is THE perfect fish taco in California (yes, including down the coast to San Diego). The perfect ratio of pico/light cabbage with a generous fish portion and an excellent corn tortilla. Their hot sauce is also a benchmark and available for purchase separately — highly recommended.2. The “ambience” at some of the locations is just one step above standing next to a taco truck in a parking lot, but the staff is very friendly and I promise that you will leave happy (especially if you order 3 fish tacos. Otherwise happy, but filled with slight regret if you order 4 ?)“
“A Latina and family owned local business with the best tortas in the business! I highly recommend The carnitas tortas, but anything on the menu is worth trying! On Sunday will have a seasonal dish for limited time only! A must try and the party subs are huge and delicious. Quick tip, you cal always call ahead to pick up your food!Just keep an eye out, because this place is located in the gas station!“
“So here I start off my day in El monte with my husband here in taqueria periban. While we were here we decided to dine in and heard the músicos playing. The carnitas we're amazinggg!!!!We were welcomed with great service and our waitress was outstanding and when we finished our food the bus boys came in quick and pace full with a big smile on their face. Now that's something to look out for. Definitely coming back bus boys were on point and live music was great and last but not least will definitely come back for more carnitas!!!!“
“Best asada mulitas ever. I like the ones at the taco truck, I don't know why they just taste better lol. Everything about it is just so good. The truck is parked next to the restaurant and is located in a large shopping center with lots of parking spaces. A definite must-try!“
“Was in the area and saw the good reviews so decided to check it out and I'm so glad I did! Great welcoming staff, small but clean place, delicious food!!! Cafe de olla was perfect ,I had the Huevos con Nopales and I wish I could eat 2 plates because it was that good ?, service was amazing! Definitely a must stop next time I'm in the area, Gracias a todo el equipo de Chilitos se ve que le ponen amor a su comida! Go support small latino business and Gracias in advance.“
“Thank you for hosting our wedding 11/3/23. Tacos were amazing! Everyone got seconds, they all loved your tacos. I also would like to thank your wife who was very helpful in answering all my questions and concerns and more importantly being on top of it, especially when the venue needed something.“
“This has become our new family favorite!Great food. Great service.Family owned. Please go support this local gem. It's in a funky strip mall. Don't let that deter you.The enchiladas with chicken or cheese, with either red or green sauce are my favorite! My 80 year old dad, who is very very fussy really likes this place too.Weekends they have handmade corn tortillas too!Parking: Parking lot is kind of dark. Definitely needs more lighting. But it's huge lot.“
“So I seen a lot of bad comments on there Yelp!! Like really?? THEY HAVE THE BEST FOOD THERE? My husband and my kids love this place it makes us feel like when we go to Mexico the employees there are super nice and the lady that cooks makes you feel welcomed!! I love there Cafe de olla ❤ if you haven't had it you need too!! We always order our consome and tacos de suadero OMG they are the best!! (TRY THERE CHORIZO TOO) In fact I went there today and I love how everytime I go they sell more Mexican stuff in there market I'm just in love with this place!! I give it a 5 stars⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ because I can't put 6 stars lol?“
“The taco shop isn't huge like some other franchise competitors. But it's got bar table against the kitchen, and a few other tables for small party. There is no outdoor dinning area. They offer variety of meat options. If you like what I like, they have lengua, buche, and tripa; which are my favorites! The price is very competitive, comparing to some taco trucks nearby. Their burritos and mulitas look very appealing too. I will definitely return and try them out again. Overall. It gets a 4.3 out of 5.“
“This restaurant doesn't have a menu, you need to look at the food behind the glass, or ask the attendant when it's your turn, you (have to wait in this "hole in the wall".) The soups are tastless, the tacos are big most of the time are good except for carne asada that is dry, but $5 for a taco is a little bit too much. I do not recommend this place.?Parking: Limited and small.“
“Found this street vendor as i was running errands. I saw the word barbecoa, and i had to make a stop. To my surprise, they only had one thing on the menu... lamb tacos. It smelled so good i ordered 10 for me and the fam. I'm so glad i did because they were delicious!!!! Sooooooo good! The people were also extremely friendly. Highly recommend this hidden gem!“
“All the food was good, not great... Although the young lady (the only server in the place) was hustling to take care of all the customers, the service was slow. Too many people for one person to attend. We will try again another time. If the service is better, I will change my feedback!“
“I live in Central Oregon. i can't find a place that serves tripas. I haven't had tripas in a 4yrs time. Karina's makes them the way I like, my bro inlaw told me about it I'm going back we ordered from the Karina food truck restaurant was “
“I met my friend here for lunch, and we had a great time! The staff was very welcoming and kind. I had the chicken enchiladas, and my friend had a burrito. We both loved our meals...so good. The speed of service was great, and the portions were generous (and very affordable). The atmosphere was calm and casual, not too crowded. I especially liked the salsa. It had a good flavor and heat, but no unpleasant afterburn. It was a delightful experience overall, and I would recommend giving it a try!“
