“Went here as a second option as my original spot didn't take reservations over 4 people. The food is fine here, but I was disappointed with the portion sizes of the sushi and other items. Perhaps it's because we got the omakase, but maybe it's because everyone is trying to save on costs, but keep the prices the same or higher.“
“Traditional Japanese soba/udon noodle restaurant located in old Torrance. Place draws always a crowd, walk up and place your order, pay and wait for your number to be called. Homemade noodles with great combo sets that are filling and authentic. 5 stars, would highly recommend?Parking: Street parking available on both directions outside restaurant“
“Some of the best tempura in LA. I really like their tempura bowl, especially the tempura egg that you break apart and the yolk spreads over the rice. I typically pair it with the soba noodles. I love this small business started by a Peruvian man Carlos who had a passion for tempura. Highly recommend.“
“Humble mom and pop sushi shop with yummy, fresh, made to order sushi. Best part: at supermarket prices! They have to compete with the likes of Nijiya, Tokyo Central, and Mitsuwa nearby, so they have brought their A game. Bonus: the interior decor is a must for any baseball fan! No interior dining yet since Covid, so don't be late to your potluck with your mom and pop sushi! Let the adorable sushi clock lead you“
“This place is well deserving of 5 stars, came here randomly with my wife, ordered a bunch of stuff off the menu and it was all fantastic. Server was friendly and helpful. Salmon belly and spicy tuna tataki are definitely a must but you really can’t go wrong here! Thanks for a great experience!Parking: Got here early Saturday afternoon and there was plenty of spots in their parking lot!Kid-friendliness: I don’t have a kid but I saw some kids here!“
“This place is such a hidden gem! In a cute little shopping center you can barely see off the main road that I've passed a million times and never knew was there. Some of the best, freshest, most glorious sushi and uni dishes I've ever had! Seriously try this place immediately! Beautiful interior and great service, but the food was the star!“
“Service was very attentive. Different wait staff will take away plates and refill beverages. they come around often to see if anything is needed. Food is prepared very well and all are shareable sizes. Nice Ambiance and relaxed atmosphere. Overall a good experience and a solid place to dine.“
“Delicious Japanese Yakiniku restaurantA good yakiniku restaurant with reasonable prices and satisfying portions. You can eat liver sashimi and the mega raw version is only $12.How much does Wagyu tongue cost 20?It's deliciousYou can feel free to come with your family, but reservations are required. It's relatively empty on Tuesdays.“
“This place is great it you come at the right time. They open and close on random days..Recommended dishes:- Mixed baby scallop and shrimp tempura bowl-Black pork cutlet with starchy egg bowl-Hamburg steak w/ demi glace sauce combo-Fried OystersThe meal set comes with miso soup and pickledveggies.“
“In conjunction with the delicious food, I wanted to make a comment about the employees. All of the workers are so kind and courteous. They always make each take-out visit so pleasant.Parking: The parking lot is spacious.Kid-friendliness: Yes.Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, they have tables for people in wheelchairs.“
“Japanese Yakitori and beer. Nuff said. Always on my list when im in town since its an authentic izakaya and friends love this place. Reservations recommended since this place packs and is rather small. Grab the checklist and write down what to order and enjoy as the freshly grilled meats and vegetables arrive at your table?Wish they would open later but it is what it is. 5 stars??Parking: Lots of parking as its in a strip mall“
“The cheesecake is uniquely delicious, featuring a delightful light and fluffy texture. The addition of ube and cheesecake tarts brings an extra layer of enjoyment. If you lean towards a more traditional style, the cheesecake tart has a reminiscent taste of a traditional cheesecake.“
“The fish is delicious! Fish dishes are recommendedThis is a restaurant where you can enjoy a variety of other Japanese foods.Parking: There are plenty of free city parking lots nearby. There are also other options available for a fee.Wheelchair accessibility: Just put it in without any stress.“
“I live 30-45 min away from the restaurant but after discovering this gem, I’m almost here every weekend. You cant go wrong with the American sliced beef don. Perfectly portioned and perfectly seasoned, reasonably priced for a medium size and you can get a large if you’re feeling a little more meat. The rice under the meat is also well seasoned with sauce and quite good on its own. Opt for an egg if available; it just takes the entire thing up a notch. The meat is not too raw for those who’re concerned, but just nicely roasted that it’s tender and juicy.Hamburg omu rice - the star of the dish i’d say is definitely the garlic rice (you can choose between Garlic or… ketchup? i forgot) and demi glace sauce. Hamburg steak is nice, but the rice and sauce is just too good that the steak itself becomes kind of a side-character.I’d say the American Cut Steak don is just as good as the sliced don if you’re into chewier meat.Croquette… was ok.Service’s attentive and the atmosphere’s great.Definitely recommend!*nijiya market next door is pretty fun to shop at, and I always make sure i save some time for the market before going home.“
“Definitely comfort food. Excellent price for the amount of food that you get. Got the Teri Special that came with such variety! As long as you're not expecting gourmet food you will not be disappointed. Will be coming back! Very friendly staff. Not big enough for sit down so recommend take out.“
“Love their hot udon! The noodles are smooth and the broth is light and tasty. Perfect meal for a cold day. I like to order the combos because it comes with your choice of udon or soba (hot or cold)Combos:~Crab, scallop & ikura rice bowl: good but the seafood portions were small.~Unagi box: husband's favorite!~Deluxe tempura bowl: shrimp, white fish, scallop, squid, eggplant, kabocha, potato, green bean, mushroom. It's not as crispy but it's pretty good.Limited seatingPlenty of parking“
“Our server was super nice. As always, the curry beef udon was delish! My son and I love to come here because he likes to get the kids udon combo.Parking: Big parking lot outside Mitsuwa and the Del Amo Mall.Kid-friendliness: The kids udon combo is the best and comes with a cute little toy.“
“An old style Japanese restaurant, with a pretty wide range of items: soba, udon, ramen, curry, fried dishes, sashimi, sushi, rice dishes, tempura, etc. The one thing I really don't recommend is the spicy tuna roll. Tried it twice and it was very fishy both times. Nice casual place.“
“Wow what an amazing meal! This place a delightful, bare bones cook your own fine meat to your precise liking. Excellent customer service and soju and sake. We came here for a birthday, and will definitely be returning. I highly recommend this restaurant.“
“Sushi Boy has always been our go to place for sushi and party platters. For Christmas, we ordered a California platter at their location in Torrance on 190th St. Glad they're ipen on Christmas day 2022. The place looks rundown and dark and not appealing but the service was good and everyone was friendly. Placing an order was easy and our order was ready for pick up upon our arrival. They are in the same plaza as Walmart close to Starbucks. Lots of parking available. The California platter comes with California rolls, spicy tuna rolls, and salmon rolls. Everyone loved it and everything was fresh. They also give you the wasabi, ginger, soy sauce, little bowls for your sushi dipping. All was great and it was the hit at our party. Thank you Sushi Boy for providing fresh and delicious sushi and thank you for being open on holidays. We appreciate you!!!“
“Dinner reservations required. Not sure why. The place was 1/3 or less full. When we arrived we were the only ones. Oh well, whateverThe sushi is spectacular. Wow! Sure , it's expensive , but the quality here is amazingI was referred here from some of my Japanese national friends. They did not steer me wrong. Best sushi in the South Bay. The service is prompt, polite , amazing. This is now my go to place“
“The service is amazing! The staff was very kind and helpful. The food was good, definitely a great selection for a karaoke place. We were there for longer than we expected and they still accommodated us. Me and my friends had a blast! If I'm ever in this area again, I will come back.“
“We walked across the street from our hotel and walked into a little store front sushi restaurant. Service was very attentive. All of the rolls were pictured as well as described on the menu. Everything was really fresh and tasty! We would love to go back, but we live in southeast Florida!“
“My first review! My visit here last night was nothing short of a revelation in the art of sushi dining. Celebrating its 17th year, this gem of a restaurant has not just stood the test of time; it has set the bar for what authentic Japanese cuisine can embody. Though it is not your modern izakaya nor fine-dining luxury, it firmly facets itself as the "OG" restaurant in the diverse Japanese dining scene.Immediately upon entering, I observed details of its classic entity by old decos of art, calligraphy, signs, photos, and handwritten notes. It was an ambiance that exuded warmth. I immediately felt the history and dedication woven into the fabric of this place. The owners have crafted not merely a restaurant but a sanctuary for those who appreciate the finer nuances of Japanese culture and cuisine.I opted for the sushi combo course. Each piece of sushi was a testament to the chef's mastery over his craft, with every ingredient shining through in a delicate balance of flavors and textures with a properly curated course. All the nigiri boasted freshness in a blend of tastes that was above satisfactory by the plate. But what truly sets Sushi Anza apart is the heart and soul poured into every aspect of the dining experience. From the attentive, yet unobtrusive service to the meticulous presentation of the dishes, you can feel the love and dedication that the owners have for their craft. It's this personal touch combined with an "aged" ambience that transforms a meal into an experience. In a world where the genuine essence of Japanese cuisine can sometimes be lost amidst fusion and innovation, Sushi Anza stands as a beacon of tradition and quality.Overall, my first visit here was a nostalgic journey through the very essence of Japanese tradition, guided by the hands of those who know and respect it the most. I cannot recommend Sushi Anza enough and look forward to many more visits. I hope to regain the same authentic warmth, excellence, and quality that hallmarks the culinary gems of Torrance.“
“Excellent service! Attended a group dinner (birthday celebration) in a private area. The servers did an excellent job keeping up with drinks and waters. Our dinners were all served at the same time, hard to do with large groups. Food was very good and the options for the menu were all great! Nice room layout, we were all at one long table with lots of room move around and mingle.Parking is always easy at Miyako Hybrid as they have a second overflow lot for guests. In addition, they offer valet parking. Definitely would recommend the hotel for stays. Great inhouse restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great for private events or just private dining. Plenty of space for private events just off the lobby.“
“The atmosphere inside the store is also good.I had the impression that there were many regular customers. Both the food and the customer service are wonderful!Especially the wagyu steak is delicious.Tempura Gindara for lunch is also recommended.“
“This Matsui restaurant is small, nice & clean. The employees were great fast paced. Definitely the owner was excellent!! Super busy!! The food was amazing well cooked. You can’t go wrong. The sushi was alright but Go Go Matsui bowl & the cold soba was a bomb. Totally insane. I really liked it. Come early in the morning before the customers arrive. The seat gets full at all times.“
“The taste was excellent, and they gave big portions for the price. We got hibachi off the lunch menu and ended up with leftovers. They also threw in some free egg rolls, which were also really good. It seems like they mix all their own sauces, too.The only problem was a language barrier with the cashier, so they must not be used to taking orders verbally. Oh, and the salad is literally just roughly chopped iceberg lettuce with dressing on the side. There is no space to sit down and eat, so this place is take-out only basically.“
“The food is pretty good and the service was good. I got the mille katsu. The only thing that wasn't great was the rice that came with the meal. It was cooked well and everything but it tasted like some kind of medium grain rice so the texture was a little different. It was still really good, but maybe different rice would tie the meal together better.“
“"I consistently have a fantastic experience at Gushiya. The staff goes above and beyond to take care of me and my family every visit. Not only is the service exceptional, but the food is consistently amazing. It's clear that they prioritize customer satisfaction, making each dining experience memorable. I highly recommend [Sushi Place] for their outstanding service and delicious sushi."“
“I recently tried the super sampler plate and all I gotta say is that it's definitely good. The service was amazing and they definitely have enough places to sit inside and out. I love coming here for my lunch! Definitely recommend coming here and trying the different kinds of plates they offer.“
“Likely the best croquettes you can get in the US! Red Rock Express is a quick and easy option in the plaza that used to house the old Mitsuwa in Torrance off Carson. Their spot is small but clean and not usually busy with plentiful of parking. My go to is their meat and potato original croquette but they've got 5 different flavors now ranging from curry to cream! They even have a 5 pack for you to try one of every flavor but personally, my preferred flavor is just their original. My husband really loves their beef don. It's a hearty and heavy meal but the quality of their beef it absolute creme de la creme! Their egg on top when you mix it gives everything such a velvety smooth bite. I'd love to try to omurice next time as it's not common at a lot of restaurants out here.“
“It's been years since I've been back here, and previously, I didn't have much to say about this restaurant. However, this time around, I can say otherwise. I was going to come here for the omakase at lunch for my friend's birthday, but due to her baby being sick, we opted for takeout, which I never like to do for omakase especially. The staff was super kind about the last min reservation cancellation, and told us the takeout would be ready in 20 min.Now the food. The omakase came with miso soup, 10 sushi pieces (including ikura and uni), and a negi-toro cut roll. The takeout presentation was beautiful (see pic). Each piece was fresh and delicious, with the fish to rice ratio being ideal. I want to come back and try dining at the restaurant on my next visit.“
“This place is our got to for a nice quiet dinner away from the kids. Food is always great. Wait staff is fast and they are pleasant. I love that we can have a conversation and enjoy our meal. That Manpuku salad is amazing! The quality of the meat is great but the sides hold their own. We will be coming here for many years to come.“
“Oh my goodness!!! Quality All You Can Eat (AYCE) Sushi for less than $40. I have paid double that + some for the same quality. It is easy to become overwhelmed by the various kitchen, sushi, and roll options available. Pace yourself, or you will be charged $2 per roll you waste or do not finish. Surprisingly, they have great soups & udon on the AYCE as an option. So, it was so good I neglected to take pictures.???This means I have to go back and do AYCE all over again. I will become a regular here? great food & atmosphere. Service was 4/5. They are just so busy. Sometimes, guests waited too long between rounds for AYCE; maybe they were short-staffed that day. But I will be back like Arnold & I am sure they will redeem themselves, friendly folks!I will amend this review accordingly for service improvements and pictures.☮️“
“Definitely a super special place. The fish karaage was delicious. I like eating the crispy finer bones too. Plenty for 6 of us!The spinach -which I usually skip, thinking it will be boring- was so tasty due to the black sesame paste. The octopus in the sunomono- how do they infuse so much depth of flavor? It tasted smoky, almost. My mom got an udon- my sister had a bite, which made her order one too. I tried the broth: so perfect! The mackerel and sashimi were solid dishes as wellWanted to try the ika appetizer but everyone was full from eating way more than usual. We will have to try it next time. It’s amazing how good food can elevate everyone’s mood and make us feel more bonded.Azusa was amazing. She’s one of those people whose work ethic and beautiful personality are so readily apparent.Thank you for a great experience !“
“Our first time here. Staff was extremely friendly. We've all had hot pot/shabu-shabu before just not at this location. The food was good, but we all have had better. Not to knock this place though, it's still good! I love how there's Japanese curry with the pickled radish like ichibanya and you can add meatballs, or the meat you dip. Kids 4 and under eat free, and 5-i think 12 are 1/2 off. What I'm not use to was the service charge, 18%. I asked if that's what the tip was, and the employee said, yeah kinda. Typically, that's what you automatically get charged for parties 6 and more, which we normally pay 20% anyway. But to be forced to pay 18% regardless, i think is unfair. Esp since minimum wage has gone up, and prices per person has gone up, it isn't fair for the customer to be triple charged. On top of that, the receipt still asked for a tip. I don't think an establishment should stick their hand out so much, it's quite embarrassing to put the customer on the spot like that.“
“We liked eels and had a dragon roll and unagi avocado bowl for lunch. The food was tasty with good quality ingredients, and just enough for lunch. Prompt service and food was prepared and served quickly. All and all, everything was pretty good but just not quite enough for 5-stars.Clean and relaxing environment, ample parking.“
“Honda is a very solid Japanese dining experience. Nothing I've had there is particularly exceptional, but the food is always reliably tasty and fresh. My wife and I usually order the dinner combinations which include miso soup and salad. The portions are good and I especially recommend the beef teriyaki and sashimi combo.“
“I absolutely love this place. The food was delicious and the environment inviting and enjoyable. We have been here a few times and everyone of them has been fantastic. The food is delicious and fun. The bbq style is great for promoting conversation and fun. Highly recommend it!“
“Right down the street from my house I love this place especially with the mango drink they have so good . First time customers get 20% off and then a point system after that so after your third time u go there u will get a free food item . Pretty darn sweet[ty “
“The service here is great, and while my Chinese chicken salad was good, it was a whooooooole lot of lettuce, and not much else. I was disappointed, as I haven't been here for a few years and used to really love their food. I'll probably give it another try, but they're definitely not at the top of my list.Parking: The parking lot is small and shared with other businesses.“
“The food was very unique and delicious! And the service was surprisingly good~ not sure what the others had experienced... However, I too was a bit confused with the interior but again its unique! And who cares if the food tastes this good! Keep it up~ we'll definitely be back.“
“Great food. Good price. There isn't a ton of in restaurant dining space, so we always take it to go. It's definitely our go to teriyaki place if we are in the area. Service is on the slower side, I always order on-line, but you pay a convenience fee for it.“
“We have come here a few times and each visit has been great. The food is always fresh and delicious. Highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Definitely try the soba! They make it in house and it’s so good! My absolute favorite is the Asari appetizer. The flavor was amazing!!!!“
