“Best omakase for the value in South Bay. Owned by a Japanese husband and wife duo in a strip mall corner. Parking has always been available every time we’ve been here, and we’ve came over 6+ times now. Go often and keep them in business for years to come!“
“Humble mom and pop sushi shop with yummy, fresh, made to order sushi. Best part: at supermarket prices! They have to compete with the likes of Nijiya, Tokyo Central, and Mitsuwa nearby, so they have brought their A game. Bonus: the interior decor is a must for any baseball fan! No interior dining yet since Covid, so don't be late to your potluck with your mom and pop sushi! Let the adorable sushi clock lead you“
“TL;DR Solid (hand and cut) rolls, sashimi and overall experience, no complaints Story: Been here for the second time after about ~6 months. Both times with family, both times seated pretty promptly. Ambiance: Parking hasn't been a problem both times, but the lot only takes ~10 or less cars. Service was adequate as more folks filtered in (cater your expectations to a restaurant with a few waiters) Generally clean (restroom was fine), and I didn't feel uncomfortable with any of the decor/music/lack of anything Food: Definitely solid roll choices, they have other things like teriyaki but can only comment on the fish/rolls Soy paper and rice less options are appreciated I'm all for handrolls and these hand rolls are definitely hefty (Lobster hand roll/Vicky hand rolls were very solid) Rolls were good and fish was relatively fresh (no complaints) Value: Decent value considering the quality of the fish and that it's a sushi roll place, would definitely give this place a chance if you're in the mood for a solid roll (but shout out to those large hand rolls).“
“I have visited this restaurant many times before, and the food is so delicious that I crave it regularly. I would say it is the best Japanese izakaya-style restaurant I have ever been to. The staff are also very energetic and create a lively atmosphere. My favorite dishes are the sashimi, teppanyaki, and battera. The food is always fresh and cooked to perfection. The service is also excellent, and the staff are always happy to help you choose the perfect dishes and drinks. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic Japanese izakaya experience.“
“This place is such a hidden gem! In a cute little shopping center you can barely see off the main road that I've passed a million times and never knew was there. Some of the best, freshest, most glorious sushi and uni dishes I've ever had! Seriously try this place immediately! Beautiful interior and great service, but the food was the star!“
“This Matsui restaurant is small, nice & clean. The employees were great fast paced. Definitely the owner was excellent!! Super busy!! The food was amazing well cooked. You can’t go wrong. The sushi was alright but Go Go Matsui bowl & the cold soba was a bomb. Totally insane. I really liked it. Come early in the morning before the customers arrive. The seat gets full at all times.“
“The restaurant is in a nondescript strip mall, and the interior is jam-packed with tables. More tables are located in the back. Not any atmosphere to speak of. Super busy on a Sunday evening when we visited, and the service was slow as a result. Sampled noodles, sashimi, and ton-Katsu, and all the food was good. Moderately priced.“
“The fish is delicious! Fish dishes are recommendedThis is a restaurant where you can enjoy a variety of other Japanese foods.Parking: There are plenty of free city parking lots nearby. There are also other options available for a fee.Wheelchair accessibility: Just put it in without any stress.“
“My first review! My visit here last night was nothing short of a revelation in the art of sushi dining. Celebrating its 17th year, this gem of a restaurant has not just stood the test of time; it has set the bar for what authentic Japanese cuisine can embody. Though it is not your modern izakaya nor fine-dining luxury, it firmly facets itself as the "OG" restaurant in the diverse Japanese dining scene.Immediately upon entering, I observed details of its classic entity by old decos of art, calligraphy, signs, photos, and handwritten notes. It was an ambiance that exuded warmth. I immediately felt the history and dedication woven into the fabric of this place. The owners have crafted not merely a restaurant but a sanctuary for those who appreciate the finer nuances of Japanese culture and cuisine.I opted for the sushi combo course. Each piece of sushi was a testament to the chef's mastery over his craft, with every ingredient shining through in a delicate balance of flavors and textures with a properly curated course. All the nigiri boasted freshness in a blend of tastes that was above satisfactory by the plate. But what truly sets Sushi Anza apart is the heart and soul poured into every aspect of the dining experience. From the attentive, yet unobtrusive service to the meticulous presentation of the dishes, you can feel the love and dedication that the owners have for their craft. It's this personal touch combined with an "aged" ambience that transforms a meal into an experience. In a world where the genuine essence of Japanese cuisine can sometimes be lost amidst fusion and innovation, Sushi Anza stands as a beacon of tradition and quality.Overall, my first visit here was a nostalgic journey through the very essence of Japanese tradition, guided by the hands of those who know and respect it the most. I cannot recommend Sushi Anza enough and look forward to many more visits. I hope to regain the same authentic warmth, excellence, and quality that hallmarks the culinary gems of Torrance.“
“Came for a quick meal before a movie. Very cozy and the service is nice but wasn’t particularly impressed by the food, especially given how many great Japanese options there are in the area.Calpico Beer - was great and my SO ordered a secondTakowasa - disappointing unfortunately, the octopus wasn’t the freshest.Skewer plate - was just ok, some of the skewers were overcooked and most didn’t have enough seasoningSoft shell crab in chili sauce - pretty good! Not spicy and actually more sweetNatto and sashimi - natto is not for everyone but I like it, and this is a pretty good dish“
“Sushi Boy has always been our go to place for sushi and party platters. For Christmas, we ordered a California platter at their location in Torrance on 190th St. Glad they're ipen on Christmas day 2022. The place looks rundown and dark and not appealing but the service was good and everyone was friendly. Placing an order was easy and our order was ready for pick up upon our arrival. They are in the same plaza as Walmart close to Starbucks. Lots of parking available. The California platter comes with California rolls, spicy tuna rolls, and salmon rolls. Everyone loved it and everything was fresh. They also give you the wasabi, ginger, soy sauce, little bowls for your sushi dipping. All was great and it was the hit at our party. Thank you Sushi Boy for providing fresh and delicious sushi and thank you for being open on holidays. We appreciate you!!!“
“This is probably one of the sushi gems in the South Bay. They give good portions for the price. They also have boba so my daughter loves boba and Sushi together. It's a small restaurant but cozy. Just keep posted the days they are closed. It seems to rotate so when I went they were closed on Wednesdays. I really enjoyed the food and the service. Definitely check it out!“
“Mr Kim the owner is a character. Come early n come hungry for their happy hour, Monday to Thursday lunch hour and 5 to 630 PM. 3 pieces for price of 2 on regular Nigri sushi. Good food n good price. Place is tiny so not too good for big party. Service can be slow during Happy Hour. Come support small business.“
“Excellent service! Attended a group dinner (birthday celebration) in a private area. The servers did an excellent job keeping up with drinks and waters. Our dinners were all served at the same time, hard to do with large groups. Food was very good and the options for the menu were all great! Nice room layout, we were all at one long table with lots of room move around and mingle.Parking is always easy at Miyako Hybrid as they have a second overflow lot for guests. In addition, they offer valet parking. Definitely would recommend the hotel for stays. Great inhouse restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great for private events or just private dining. Plenty of space for private events just off the lobby.“
“Great local sushi restaurant. Very old school feel to it, as it has been around for many years. Most of the customers are usually Japanese, so that's a good sign. The best way to experience this place is to do the omakase, which is $80 and much less than most places in LA. Very good sushi for the price. The oysters are also a must. The only negative thing I can really say is that they don't have chilled shochu, so you have to drink it on the rocks which dilutes the flavor. They have good house sake (Otokoyama), most places usually serve really cheap stuff for their house sake. Staff are very friendly. They have private rooms available.“
“"I consistently have a fantastic experience at Gushiya. The staff goes above and beyond to take care of me and my family every visit. Not only is the service exceptional, but the food is consistently amazing. It's clear that they prioritize customer satisfaction, making each dining experience memorable. I highly recommend [Sushi Place] for their outstanding service and delicious sushi."“
“Oh my goodness!!! Quality All You Can Eat (AYCE) Sushi for less than $40. I have paid double that + some for the same quality. It is easy to become overwhelmed by the various kitchen, sushi, and roll options available. Pace yourself, or you will be charged $2 per roll you waste or do not finish. Surprisingly, they have great soups & udon on the AYCE as an option. So, it was so good I neglected to take pictures.???This means I have to go back and do AYCE all over again. I will become a regular here? great food & atmosphere. Service was 4/5. They are just so busy. Sometimes, guests waited too long between rounds for AYCE; maybe they were short-staffed that day. But I will be back like Arnold & I am sure they will redeem themselves, friendly folks!I will amend this review accordingly for service improvements and pictures.☮️“
“Honda is a very solid Japanese dining experience. Nothing I've had there is particularly exceptional, but the food is always reliably tasty and fresh. My wife and I usually order the dinner combinations which include miso soup and salad. The portions are good and I especially recommend the beef teriyaki and sashimi combo.“
“We've been coming here for a while now and while we enjoy the experience and quality of food our last visit was severely disappointing. The previous customers' order wasn't cleared before we sat down and despite us getting the manager to adjust the tab and telling us everything was OK we ended up getting overcharged for plates we never ordered pushing our bill well over $100! Pretty sad that instead of owning up to THEIR mistake or eating some costs for THEIR mistake they lost a loyal customer that was coming in a few times monthly.“
“Cozy traditional restaurant. Arrived on a Saturday around 7pm and there was no wait. There's plenty of free self parking. Was greeted by the friendly staff and quickly seated. They offer lots of cut sushi options as well as a few cut rolls. The fish was very fresh and tasty. The rice used was of excellent quality and prepared very well.Felt it was a bit on the pricey side considering it's not in a fancy location or fancy ambience.“
“We liked eels and had a dragon roll and unagi avocado bowl for lunch. The food was tasty with good quality ingredients, and just enough for lunch. Prompt service and food was prepared and served quickly. All and all, everything was pretty good but just not quite enough for 5-stars.Clean and relaxing environment, ample parking.“
“Right down the street from my house I love this place especially with the mango drink they have so good . First time customers get 20% off and then a point system after that so after your third time u go there u will get a free food item . Pretty darn sweet[ty “
“Great service! The lady at the register is so sweet with everyone who walks in the door. The sushi was fresh and priced reasonably. My favorite was the Tiger Roll. This place is more for takeout, they have a small seating area but no table service. Order at the register and pick up your order. I only knocked down one star for the wait time. I was told 20mins and it was more like 45mins. They seem really busy so I'd recommend to call ahead or expect to wait. Also, there is a 3.95% card fee if using a credit card so I paid with cash. I'll definitely return.“
