First visit to this restaurant and the food was great, the service was friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was casual and friendly. The Double Clam Chowder was really good, and I am from New England, so I have had a lot of chowders.
I really wanted to try this place after seeing the many reviews. They have weekly specials and went on the $1 per oyster day. The oysters are itty bitty so $1 sounds about right. The clam chowder was very good but pricey for the small cup. The salmon and crab salad was just ok. The salmon was fully raw in the inside and browned on the outside. The Black Marlin is one of the best spots for oyster lovers in OC! I came here for their Monday all day $1 oyster special. In some $1 oyster restaurants I've been to, prices were cheap but the oysters we received were tiny. That was not the case here! I was surprised by the size and quality of the oysters, and it did not feel like they sacrificed quality for their oyster special. The service was quick and pleasant as well!
