I'm sorry to report that Babalou's has really taken a turn downhill. I have been a very loyal Babalou customer for fifteen years or so and I've noticed a real change. The portions are smaller and the food is lower quality. The meat is still really good but everything else is just so-so. If you want good Mediterranean in Walnut Creek, head to Lokanta.
Great, unassuming Mediterranean food. I got the vegetarian plate and was impressed by the creamy hummus, baba ghanoush, dolma, and crispy falafel. Great for a lunch spot or takeout when elevated ambiance isn’t a necessity.

Avg Mediterranean food. The babaganoush was really good, but it didn't have enough pita served with it. A pint-sized side came with 1 slice of pita... weird. My gyro was a bit dry but otherwise, the flavor was decent. I would go to try something else.
