“I loved this place. Everyone there were so welcoming and the Taisho (The head chef) was super entertaining and made me feel like I’ve been there before. They are so proud of what they provide and all the fish are coming from Japan. Not only they are coming from Japan but also coming by first class over night shipping. They take care of their fish so well and I was so impressed when I ate.I’m so picky when it comes to Shari (rice) and yes! They use Akashari, which is red vinegar and rice. Their rice is sooo fluffy so you feel like you can eat a lot!I’m so so happy that I finally went there tonight! I’m hoping to come back soon and thank you again so much for everything!Ah btw, their desert was amazing too! The female chef makes the desert and we loved it!“
“Very delicious sushi spot that just blends in with majority of the closed shops near it, especially since the entrance was roped off as if it was actually closed, from the outside. If you’re looking for a kikkoman soy sauce spot, this isn’t for you.Ordered two carpaccios, one with fresh wasabi and ponzu, can’t remember the fish, and another carpaccio, think either halibut or albacore, that had yuzu juice and mushroom and those two dishes were phenomenal. Every bite was simply amazing and irresistible. Great fish quality, not a single piece was questionable in appearance, texture, taste; the quality was delicious. The assorted tempura was crunchy, the batter didn’t disintegrate when you dipped it and didn’t break up when you were biting it. A delicious batter that kept its integrity and highlighted the beauty of each ingredient being used. Loved having a tempura mushroom and the white fish was a unique and different touch. The nigiri- where the begin. All of it was delicious. For a party of two, we each walked away with eating $190 each which is a lot for how much we ordered truthfully but because the quality of the food was better that majority of the places we had, it was worth it and can’t wait to go back. No alcohol either. It was a treat to eat here and treat ourselves. The most delectable and fragile scallops that just melt in your mouth, the albacore was a dance in your mouth as well as anything else that had a drop of yuzu on it. Ended my experience with uni and it was pure velvet. The most underwhelming item I ate was a spicy tuna since I was genuinely curious but I wouldn’t order that again and just stick with nigiri. Each nigiri order is 1 piece and sashimi is 2 pieces. Thank you Jinpachi for a cozy atmosphere and a delicious treat- can’t wait for more!“
“1000000/10. I have lived in west la for 7 years and always thought the sushi in la was mid at best. That there was something about the weather that kept it from tasting fresh like east coast sushi. Then I came here. This may be my new favorite restaurant in LA. The sushi is mind blowing fresh and tasty. For the price point it's truly unbeatable. Had no idea it was possible for sushi to taste this fresh. Like wow. I also love that it's comfy seating which is so rare at sushi places. Sage helped me and he was an absolute gem. This is my happy place. I could literally eat here everyday, I had the sushi, tempura, and spider roll all were incredible. I'm so happy I stumbled across this hidden gem“
“The food, vibe, and service at sushi is top notch! We come here often and always try something new. We are never disappointed! You can even get Kobe sliders, and there are plenty of non fish options. The staff is courteous and the owner Dov is the best. Best restaurant at Sunset Plaza!“
“They have been here forever. And there is a reason for that - some of the freshest sushi you can find. The owners are lovely people. And they cut no corners - if the fish they find that day isn't up to their standards they simply won't put it on the menu. You never know what kind of fish they may have on any one day.I go twice a week sometimes. All their cooked food is fantastic as well.Awesome all the way around.“
““Finally taste authentic Japanese food, Robatayaki”Trying Japanese food in the United States requires some sacrifice. Let go of your expectations... or sacrifice your money...There are two main types of Japanese food in the United States.Places that prepare and serve reasonably Japanese-like cuisine: The prices at these places are not that expensive, but if you don't lower your expectations of Japanese food, you may get very angry.Another place that does it really well: but it's very expensive. If you don't budget at least $200 to $500 for these places, you might be surprised when you get the bill.<Aburiya Raku>, which we visited this time, is, as the name suggests, <Robadayaki> specializing in grilled food.Robatayaki does not have the atmosphere of a Japanese tavern, but rather a high-end Japanese style atmosphere. However, this is a place where you can experience the best taste at a level in between, without falling into either of the two categories mentioned above.#atmosphereWhen you enter the store, you will notice the “Fish of the day” placed on ice (Photo 19).Expectations are high because these are not fish that are commonly eaten in the United States, but fish that are eaten as raw fish in Japan. The interior of the establishment, which I entered after being guided by a very friendly Usher, had a Japanese atmosphere, but had a very clean, modern feel. I especially like the cozy and cozy cushioned seats on the Patio, and the appetizing orange color makes it even more comfortable (Photo 8).#menuThere are three main menus: Tasting menu, Omakase menu, and Al La Carte menu. The Tasting menu is a menu that consists of several courses from the single menu, and the Omakase menu consists of menus exclusive to Omakase that are not included in the single menu. Most of the single items have Japanese ingredients such as grilled food, sashimi, and stews, but since it is an Aburiya, grilled food such as skewers takes up quite a portion.#tasteFirst of all, the ingredients are so fresh that you can't help but taste it.Properly aged sashimi melts in your mouth, and the quality is as good as any other high-end sushi restaurant. The cooking of not only tuna and salmon but also shiny fish was excellent (Photo 1-3). The grilled wagyu steak I tried was also perfect, including the degree of grilling and the finishing touch (Photo 4-6). The finishing soba and akioni giri are also twosomes up (Photos 12-13). There was no menu that was not delicious from start to finish. For reference, the wasabi was of course freshly ground wasabi, so its freshness and refreshingness were maximized.#combination #cooking techniqueThe combination of dishes here is really good.<Oyaji Tofu>, a home-made tofu dish, is a dish where you mix light homemade tofu with the house's special sauce, mustard kimchi, and chives. Although it was my first time trying this flavor and combination, it was a very delicious and impressive starter (Photo 7). Moreover, the aroma of kaibashi and fresh truffles grilled with Japanese soy sauce seasoning was not forgotten until the end of the drinking session, and the combination of caviar and oyster was a combination that showed the essence of delicious saltiness (Photos 10-11).The cooking technique is also perfect... I ordered a single sashimi of Sea Robin (a white fish belonging to the goby family and a high-quality fish called Houbou in Japan). The back meat was sashimi, and the belly meat was lightly cooked using Matsukawa's cooking method, so the skin was evenly textured. They saved me and let me eat. Of course, after eating all the sashimi, they also fried the whole head and bones (Photo 1-2).#considerationFirst of all, the kindness of the young, handsome Japanese servers is so perfect that it makes me sad. When we ran out of sake, they rushed over to fill our glasses. In particular, the pinnacle of this restaurant's consideration was the sauce container. There are four conditions on the table, but if you are new to Japanese cuisine, it is natural to not know“
“Unbelievable dinner - perfect service, atmosphere, and food. I felt like I was teleported to Kyoto with how impeccable the restaurant is, down to its size even! The unagi meal was a dream, I love the 3 different ways you can enjoy the eel and everything that comes with it. Lovely sake pairing as well as recommended by one of the servers. The food is pricy but 1000% worth it!Will dine again soon for sure! Also the matcha creme Brulee was the perfect ending to the whole thing omg“
“What an amazing small yet great little spot. As someone who's a 20 year sushi person I highly recommend "Sachi" My wife and I originally had decided to visit a different restaurant. Due to circumstances we ended up at Sachi. To keep this review short, the atmosphere is comfortable. The waitress was accommodating. And Sachi (the owner and chef) was great. I highly recommend this place. Enjoy.“
“What a great dining experience! Family owned and you can feel the love and pride of ownership in each dish. We tried many things including gyoza, salmon skin roll, hamachi, mushroom miso soup (extra yum). Everything was good and the family were so nice. This is a traditional style Japanese restaurant so don’t come in asking for nobu style service. Learn the traditions and respect the service , then you will truly appreciate the dishes.“
“Outstanding restaurant. Best Japanese BBQ we've ever had. Highly recommended. We had the Wagyu meal and then added on additional skirt and ribeye. Also had sides of corn, edamame, and garlic noodles. The garlic noodles were tops! Meats were perfectly, thinly sliced, and obviously of a high-quality.“
“Merois was by far one of my favorite dining experiences in Los Angeles. The interiors are absolutely gorgeous, they've managed to develop such an intimate feeling in the dining area, with incredible views of the city. Merois has the loveliest people working here, which made the experience so memorable. I'm not rich, I'm not famous, I'm just a social worker, but I work hard to treat myself and my family to a nice meal every one in a while. Oftentimes, you feel completely invisible if you're not "important" when it comes to higher end dining in LA. I've never felt such warmth, and felt so welcomed at a restaurant. Every staff member was kind, sweet, acknowledged us, and made time to chat with us. For that experience alone, I'd come back many times over. Wolfgang Puck happened to be in town as well, and we saw him floating around to tables, speaking with friends. The food was lovely - it is Asian-inspired, but for a minimalist palate. Even though I am Asian myself, I have lots of digestive issues and can't eat super rich foods - had no troubles at all with eating here. The fish, chicken, and dumplings were all delicious, and the Halo Halo was one of the best things I've eaten in a long time! I plan on heading back soon for that alone, and to try out some of the other inspired desserts. We loved coming to Merois. Thank you for such a lovely night!“
“This is a hidden gem. Celebrated my partners birthday party of 10 last minute and they were accommodating. The server worked hard to make sure everything was perfect and that we were happy. Their selection of sake is extensive, and the food was divine. Fresh and tasty. We will be back!“
“10/10! I came here for a solo dinner on a weekday night. The servers were extremely attentive and friendly and made some great menu recommendations. The food came out quickly. I got the three item bento box, which was absolutely delicious and a great value, especially for the neighborhood. Definitely a hidden gem in West Hollywood - the neighborhood needs more of these types of local, friendly spots with amazing food and great prices. I can't wait to come back!“
“Sushi was amazing everything was fresh which is very important when trying to find good quality sushi i love the attentiveness of the staff very hands on i will definitely be back to try more rollsParking: You won't regret this place thank me later“
“Katana is One of my favorite place in LA. Been there sense 2008 and that's my first choice when I go back to Los Angeles. First time for my son there and he is a sushi lover. He loved the food and he loved that atmosphere there. Want to come back for sure ? Five star for sure“
“Delicious food & drinks! The ambiance was great, with music and cool lighting. They offered a handful of vegan options, including veggie rolls, spicy edamame and veggie bap. We had a comfortable table, and the service was excellent. Can't wait to come back again!“
“Fourth time here, and this time was lovely. Came in on a nice rainy day and started with hot sake and edamame. Then the spicy tuna cut roll with light rice was very fresh. Then we had the salmon crunch roll, which is very perfect with the fried onions! Then some shrimp tempura with vegetables and though everything was cooked to perfection the tempura batter needed to be crispier. It was a little soggy, but other than that everything was delicious. Mochi green tea ice cream dessert was very good. One of the best places for sushi and very reasonable prices which is always a plus. Fresh ingredients and good prices! You can't beat it. Uri was our server and she's always wonderful! Thank you! We will definitely be back.“
