Excellent food as usual. We had one problem though which could have been severe. We spent the time to tell the server of all our daughters allergies. He pointed out the dishes she could have and one that could be modified. He told the chefs. Unfortunately, the one dish which was to be made free of cucumber was found to have a small piece of cucumber in it. It was discovered before she ate it. She had eaten one piece before that. Fortunately no reaction occurred. They apologized profusely and did not charge for that dish. The waiter was very apologetic and he had taken great care to make sure the allergies were relayed to the chef and he told the manager. We have eaten here and next door at Sushi Den many many times with no problems. We will continue to go.

One of my favorite places to go when in Denver.

As always, Sushi Den delivers — the specials were out of this world — I had red shrimp, lobster, toro (fatty tuna), and a tako (octopus) plate. My only critiques are the fact that two of the dishes we ordered were never made, and the regular tuna sashimi was amazingly pink/redish — never seen it like that. Sign of the times — just like everyone else, I think they were somewhat understaffed. But John, our waiter was very knowledgeable and apologetic for the missing orders — plus he was really nice, so the experience was still really pleasant.

Izakaya Den is my favorite restaurant! From the chic-relaxed atmosphere and the top notch service to the exceptional execution of each dish served, it’s no wonder it’s continually rated not only one of the best restaurants in Denver but top tier Japanese cuisine all around!

Ate here a couple months back and while the food tasted excellent, I was not at all thrilled with the service. Our server tried to upsell us on $80+ bottles of sake rather than what we tried to order, essentially telling us the hot sake we ordered is inauthentic and not very good. He forgot part of our food order and had to return to get it from us again. Overall, the food service was quite slow, which is interesting considering everything we ordered was raw.The icing on the cake was that when the bill came, we had been charged the wrong amount for our drinks ($1 extra per drink). We were told the prices had changed in the system and menus had not been updated to reflect that yet. Rather than fix the bill, he expected us to accept this. It should not have been a problem to take $4 off our total bill.I had heard great things about Izakaya and was excited to try a higher end sushi spot, and overall we had a fine time. But considering the prices and quality of service, I have no plans to go back.

This was an old favorite of mine and I've not been back in a number of years. We went for my birthday and from the moment I walked in I didn't feel comfortable nor welcomed. The hostesses, the severs, the crowd. The fatty Toro and okasa salmon were fabulous. The rest was fair. The server was condescending, we moved tables several times due to noise, being shoved in weird tables. I had a reservation. It was my birthdays. I've lived in New York, Dallas, SF, Miami, DC, and Philly. I've also been to Japan. The decor should have been nice it just wasn't and I just can't get impressed with Denver's food scene, it's so snobby and just not really all that. I won't go back

Really disappointing evening. We were warned tempura may arrive a few minutes after other courses, but it took well over an hour and arrived barely warm with dipping sauce that had no taste. Everyone else at table, who had sushi, had long finished their meals. Please don't offer courses you can't make or deliver.

I think food was good, the fact is fresh and shipped from Japan constantly is amazing few restaurants do that. So I really like it.The only problem I had was services was bad, they took forever ever to bring our food. Probably I will give another try. I hope won’t happen again.

We had the best sushi and sashimi we've ever had! Loved the ambiance and Lizzie, our server, was great and full of good advice for what dishes to order. Can't wait to go again!

Several of the rolls were average; the Wagyu beef roll, as an example, tasted like a Steak-umm and was largely overcooked. Service was friendly, but felt slow and sparse, but when attended to, then felt rushed. Which was incredibly perplexing. Overall, I did not find my 3rd visit to be particularly interesting. Definitely degraded since the last two visits. Was there on a Friday night, around 6:30-9:30, which is commonly known as the busiest time for a thriving restaurant. We were largely an afterthought despite the bill being $230.

Amazing per usual! There were more fish listed on the “catch of the day” kind of menu which was fun as we tried some nigiri we haven't had before/in a while. Our server, Joey, was awesome, friendly and not pushy at all (which I have found a few servers to be). Izakaya is definitely loud (much louder than Sushi Den) but we went at 5 so it wasn't very full yet which was nice. As always, it's $$$ but absolutely worth it!

We found it unusual that when we ordered 6 or 7 different rolls, they were each brought separately. Most sushi places bring it all together. They forgot the dragon roll, had to remind them. Also forgot to the waygu appetizer and had to mention that too. Food was excellent

This is the best sushi in Denver by far. But also don't miss out on things like their miso soup, seaweed salad, etc The servers will steer you right. It costs to eat here but save up and enjoy. It is worth it
