“I was in the area and wanted a bean burrito (the usual), but the Taco Bell I usually go to was in the opposite direction from where I had to go next, so I figured I was out of luck. All of the sudden, as I'm approaching the entrance to get on I-95, when I came across this fairly new Taco Bell.I was able to ger in and out very quickly, which I like.Katie was at the drive thru and did just great at paying attention to what I wanted. She seemed nice. The burrito was spot on. It was one of the best I've gotten at any Taco Bell ever (and I have had hundreds of burritos from various Taco Bells all over Connecticut & beyond). The dough was warm and fresh. The fillings were in proper ratio and certainly not overloaded onions of sauce. Somebody aced Burritos 101 with flying colors! The only thing that seemed odd to me was while trying to pay with the exact amount ($2.12), I couldn't find a penny. So, I ended up paying with (two bucks and) a quarter and was owed thirteen cents. For some reason, I was asked if I would be wanting my change. If they wanted the penny from me, I certainly wanted the 13 pennies from them. Anyway, not a big deal, but it did throw me off a bit. It felt awkward and confusing...Overall, I am happy I stopped here and will come here again in the future.“
“Honestly, I couldn’t ask for anything better. We missed the food trucks by the warf and just looked up tacos near by. This place is off the beaten path. The food was simple and so flavorful. The service was quick and friendly. I couldn’t ask for more.“

“Tired of running errands up and down Dixwell? Slow down and stop in to this family-owned gem with the Mexican best food in the greater New Haven area. This review potentially risks my being able to get a table a favorite spot. It’s that good.“
“By far one of the best tacos I have tried recently in Connecticut the food here is great and tasty in all different ways. Compared to other taco places this place really stands out in the portion of the food and taste all for an affordable price 10/10“
“I have been an avid fan of Vivas for thr last 30yrs. I started going there in college, and I fell in love w the food, the owners, and the ambience. Kathy and Bruce sold the place, and I hadn't gone to check it out until this passed week... still amazing! The new owner commands the helm and demands perfection; he is ready to please. My wife had a fantastic monitor, fresh and delicious ?. We shared churros and I took some empanadas home; both were spot on. The crowd was fun, the place filled... soccer adorned the screens, and pleasant music filled our ears. Nothing has changed with the decor,, and that's a good thing; if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Vivas is a must do if you are in New Haven, CT and looking for a cool place to eat and socialize. 5 stars ?“
“We came here on a Friday night and had the place to ourselves which was a shock after eating some phenomenal tacos with great service! We had the carnitas, birria, and asada tacos with a side of chips and salsa, and loved every bite! If we are ever back in New Haven we will be back!“
“I ordered online for pick up. The food was amazing. It was ready quickly. The gentleman running the front was so nice and welcoming. I ordered tacos and they even picked me some chips, guacamole and different sauces. He also gave me a soda. I will definitely be going back.“
“Amazing Al pastor tacos and carnitas burritos. Carnitas was juicy, rice was well seasoned and pillowy. Al pastor great depth of flavors and juicy. The red hot sauce was bomb Highly recommend this whole in the wall. Beats out a lot of taco trucks at the wharf. Will try the birria tacos next time“
“I was my first time there. When you enter your greated at the door by a friendly staff, promptly your seated and given some home made nachos with salsa and bean dip, they arrive warm and really crispy, the atmosphere is quite pleasant the staff is always on point asking weather you need anything and how is your service experience. I got into a small conversation with one of the waiters and mentioned i was there for my birthday only to be surprised by a big sombrero and a staff singing to me. I was in shock but very happy they served me a complimentary dessert as well as complimentary ceviche made of tilapia fish. I must warn you if you go here please go hungry because the portions are ridiculously huge. I didnt give 5 stars because i plan on visiting again then i will edit my review accordingly“
“It was awesome. Great view and yummy food. I highly recommend everyone to try them out at least once. I will definitely come here again in the near future. Loved the food and music.Parking: There was plenty of free parking when I went. Street parking.“
“I love the way they decorate it the walls the airbrush painting it's amazing to see. This special decor just makes it a place all in its own category. I really did not eat much of their food. What I did taste was very good. They make the absolute fantastic cocktails. The place is very clean. Great for family gatherings. Great for parties I would think. Perfect for all . Plenty of parking. Including for handicap. There's nothing bad I could say about this place at this time.“
“We love Baja's! The salsa bar is always delicious and fresh, the margaritas are enjoyable, and the entrees are always yummy. I typically order the mango shrimp platter, which comes with 2 tortillas for making one's own burritos. The shrimp is flavorful, and the mango salsa is absolutely perfect! The staff is very friendly and warm, we feel so comfortable every time we eat there. We consider Baja's "our place" and when we want to eat out but don't want to make a fuss, we happily retreat to Baja's.“
“I love Taco Palace, it's my go to! The selection is great, and all the food is very fresh and tasty. The staff are all very friendly and the restaurant is clean. The prices are in line with any other take out and the quality is much better.“
“Great experience- food was delicious and brought out in a good time after ordering - our waitress was very attentive. A little noisy towards the end of our meal with a larger party coming in. Also appreciated having parking covered by the restaurant as well !“
“What an incredible taco truck! We came across it while looking for somewhere to stop for lunch whilst driving through the area. They are so friendly and the tacos are amazing! We tried several and they're all delicious, and the salsas they came with are so tasty!“
“ORALE, the food was amazing! This is AUTHENTIC Mexican food. I ordered the steak torta and my husband ordered shrimp tacos. It was the best torta that I've ever had and my husband could not stop talking about how delicious his steak tacos were. I used their chile de arbol and made sure to add it to every bite. The atmosphere itself is pretty small and needs some updating and they only had one person on the floor while it was pretty busy but that didnt really affect the service as much as I was expecting. Despite all of that, my food was superb and we will definitely be returning.“
“First time after driving by for a cple years.Got the pollo burrito with everything.First, the flavor was outstanding, you could taste poblano peppers in the sauce, which was a unique substitution from the typical verde sauce ingredients from surrounding taquerias in New Haven county. Also, the chicken, the rice, the beans, all had their own flavor that, when mixed together with each other, married them all for a very satisfying taste. The burrito as a whole was well sized. The chix to rice and beans ratio was fair for the price. I liked the substitution of cabbage instead of lettuce, which I was worried about in the beginning, The burrito was sauced well, but not sloppy or soaking wet. The tortilla held up nicely throughout the entire burrito and didn't tear or fall apart, but it was still tender and soft enough that it was easy to eat.I highly recommend trying El Poblano if you're in the area and in the mood for some Americanized-Mexican food with authentic Mexican flavor. The only thing I will say, which ultimately isn't THAT bad, is the price. It was $11 for the Chix burrito. Steak/shrimp and lengua(I think) was $13. So it's on the higher end when compared to similar spots in the area, but you get a larger portion size, delicious, and slightly unique burrito, served up fast. The woman was very pleasant and you can tell that they take pride in their food and their restaurant. The restaurant was very clean.Parking: Small lot, so if it was busier I would've had to wait for someone else to leave first.“
“My sisters and I went here for the first time and we'll definitely be back. This place is a whole vibe! Great customer service and great food. The food was amazing. The decor had me in aweeee!! This restaurant is a 10/10 if you haven't been you need to go. Thank me later?“
“Best of pizza I've had in 10 years!! Excellent value, I got a meat lovers Pizza and it was loaded!! Everything cooked to perfection. The crust the meet the cheese everything. I would have given them 10 Stars if I! I gave them five stars for atmosphere because they're so nicen and very clean!“
“I was in Puebla last week and woke up craving a cemita today. I couldn’t believe I found such an amazing one so close - it would have been worth the drive from anywhere. This is by far the best Mexican food I’ve had in CT. The cemitas, tacos árabes and agua de maracuyá were all perfect. I can’t wait to come back often!“
“Wow! This is a must try if you are anywhere in CT! The most delicious and authentic food. Super friendly service and a cute seating area. Everything we tried was fresh and delicious. The restaurant seats about six, and takeout is an option. We had delicious hot churros for dessert! Do yourself a favor and stop by!“
“Great tequila list! Wish we could have mixed/matched the tacos, but with a group, we were able to do that anyway. The salsa flight was delicious, but the spiciest could have been spicier. Bring it on!!! The tres leches was wonderful as it wasn't too sweet. The churros beignets were a little heavy and I was hoping for just churros, which I feel are generally lighter. But the rest of my party disagreed.“
“Great addition to the North Branford community bringing Mexican cuisine as well as classic deli sandwiches and more! The service is really great and very fast. The location is friendly, quiet, & bright! Come down and try all these great flavors, you will enjoy it very much!“
“It's a been a few years since I last visited, but I still think about this place from time to time. Whenever I'd visit my friend in New Haven, we'd always come here to feast on tacos and other offerings like tortas. The tacos are great value: $8 for 4 tacos for most of the selections. Best of all, they have my favorite variety of taco: tacos de lengua. Granted that the tacos de lengua come at a bit of a premium compared to the other varieties, but I'm more than willing to pay the extra $2. The taco fillings were generous and the chips + pico de gallo + salsa verde that came with each order was fresh. I wish they also gave radishes with the taco orders, but that's a minor thing. Next time I'm in New Haven, I'd be sure to come back here to have those tacos again.“
“I wish I took pictures of everything. I got the lemon cilantro swordfish from the specials menu, my boyfriend and his friend's wife got some sort of mole meal from the specials menu, and his friend got the crab cakes - all absolutely delicious! Awesome chips and salsa too! The salsa verde is my favorite! Great little hole in the wall.“
“So I went to Ikea nade a wrong turn ended up by a line of food trucks. Being hungary I stopped. I was disapponted when I scene 99% of food trucks were Mexican. I am not a huge fan of mexican food so i googled food trucks on dwarf this place had decent reviews. I got Taco de birria it was really good. It was a bit pricey because I got a juice whose flavor turned out to be one I don't like nothing to do with the food truck I just dont like the flavor anywhere. Anyways I wouldnt eat here again because I dont like mexican but if I had to eat on this strip again I would definitely eat here.“
“Opted for a torta at lunch time. The green salsa was super spicy and crazy delicious. The side of guac and chips equally good. Mexicalli stands out since it is the only black truck on Long Wharf. Overall love Food Truck Paradise, reminding me of the taco trucks back in California. Definitely not as cheap, but pretty tasty and a nice break from pizza.“
“The food is good and freshly made. The staff is always so n friendly and nice without being talkative, which I appreciate. It’s always really clean and fast and they are good with my allergens too. I’d recommend it.Dietary restrictions: I’m allergic to milk and they make sure to take it off after asking of course.Parking: Parking lot around back.“
“Customer service was amazing. The Margarita with the Tajín rim was super tasty. My cousin decided on the drinks, and we had 2 each. Lol. It was my first time having the Buffalo Chicken Quesadilla, and it was actually pretty good. I had that along with some good Ole sweet plantains. You can never go wrong with them.. lol. I'll definitely be back for another happy hour. Great vibes and atmosphere. ?“
“I don't usually give reviews but this place was amazing! Every staff member we passed on the way to our table smiled and greeted us. Our reservation went from 8 down to 5 people. Then 2 of our party were an hour late. We put our order in at 7 and told the waiter that we had an 8 o'clock show to catch- I was impressed with how fast the food came out! We made it in time for the show. The margaritas were wonderful. Everyone was very happy with their food and the service was fantastic!“
“Wanted a dessert I wouldn't feel to guilty eating after 7pm and found this little treasure I had the "Cholado" and it was AMAZING! I'm usually not a fan of melon type fruits, but I ate everything in this cup will definitely be my snack spot especially when the warmer weather comes around! The staff is also summer nice!“
“The best taco for $1.50 and the guy had the best customer service he was polite and professional. I was eating at Ixtapa for $2 taco and it was just okay and then I switched to "la Petrona " for $1.50 a taco and it was bad now I'm w Mexicalli and I think its the best all around.“
“Found at the Long Wharf food trucks. Great authentic Mexican food at a great price. Nothing fancy, but you have a great view of Long Island Sound whole you enjoy your food.Parking: Parking can be tough to find on nice days. But there are alot of spaces.“
“Came in for Sunday lunch after a long time not having visited. Last time I visited was when their tacos were still $2.50 each! However, food was still good, particularly the Al Pastor tacos and green tamales! I just wish they automatically gave condiments for the tacos instead of having to request limes and hot sauce/ salsa. This is a simple, no fuss restaurant. Food is good, staff is friendly. Their tres leches was not fluffy and soaked to a sickly sweet level- and that's coming from a sweet tooth! Additionally- the lighting was a bit strange. Despite going at 12:30ish, the restaurant was dim with most tables being lit with red lightbulbs which was very off-putting. Hopefully this can be taken in consideration in any future changes!“
“Food was amazing ! I ordered birria tacos and they were just great ! Filling with lots of meat and the consume was even better.. I also got tacos de carne asada and the meat was so flavorful and the salsa verde was so yummy and fresh. Lastly I got an elote and can I say fresh ! I would definitely return. Dining is very small , I would call and take out next time. Customer service was good as well . Keep up the amazing work ?“
“This place now is my favorite Spanish food spot in East Haven. I know me some tacos and they got the whole situation correct. 4 was too many. THE SAUCES my goodness.... I felt refreshed and clean after eating 4 chicken tacos and my chocolate milkshake (highly recommended) I also get the spinach empanadas which are phenomenal. You will be greeted by lovely ladies that make you feel welcomed. Your food is ready quickly (I will only come here for my lunch bc they don't make you wait after you call in, plus the sweetness and respect from the employees go a long way for me)They deserve recognition and I wish I had something close to this in my town.Thank you ladies :):“
